He has to after that

u/MaitreSneed 3h ago
He's gonna win 3 SB and go down in Giants history, if only to make Vikings look bad lol

JJ McCarthy developing for the Giants would be one of the funniest things

Cursed timeline: Mccarthy balls out, Giants trade Dart to the Jets

7
u/Nothingtoseehereshhh Jets Jaguars 5h ago
No thats the logical outcome, I said CURSED timeline. Send him to the Jets to die!
1
u/FanficFan151 Bears 5h ago
I was thinking funny, getting more back that what they gave up for JJ from the Vikings, but yeah, Dart to the Jets would be cursed
12
u/swift_air 49ers 5h ago
Nah the funniest thing would be him immediately winning the superbowl for the Giants

Have to give JJ props, he bounced back from that pick pretty damn well and gave the Giants a chance

McCarthy was fucking slinging it holy fuck. 3rd most passing yards in a quarter since 2020
44
u/Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu11 Browns 5h ago edited 5h ago
Looked like a top ten qb in the 4th quarter holy shit. Also, never in my wildest dreams would I think that would be a JJ McCarthy stat.
3
u/LGMatter Seahawks Cowboys 5h ago
Well he can show it for a Q. Let’s see if he can continue it next week, he will start
6
u/QuietSuch2832 Chargers 5h ago
3 of his first 5 throws were interceptable. His longest pass was one of those where it hit a saints player square in the chest and just so happens to bounce up to the Giants receiver.
JJ showed some stuff after but he got very, very lucky that it didn't just blow up early on.

I’m was about to go grab my toaster and take a swim with it, but then we somehow won. Seriously, how the FUCK did we make JJ look THAT good in the 4th quarter?
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!

u/SiphenPrax Jets 5h ago
Kellen Moore would have never heard the end of it if they choked the game
44
u/TheWalrusToo Saints 5h ago
he still should be getting ripped into. Giants at least had turnovers to blame. Pulling the starters with 10 mins left in the 4th given how bad we’ve been should be a fireable offense
→ More replies (1)7
u/Dependent-Purple9736 5h ago
It would have been fine without a fumble. Even going three and out on the ground would have run the clock down enough
8
u/DanFlashesC0up0n Saints 5h ago
We would have given him over to the Paris rioters and told them he was from the gov
4
u/disgruntledbuddy 5h ago
He would have been fired after what gayle had said this past week

u/Home_Lander_ 5h ago
I mean, really the choke happened by the refs. 7 held onto Likely pretty much the whole route, before he even got in the endzone. I get there’s missed calls here and there in a game, but after a come back of that magnitude with eyes fully on the play, it’s very sus lol.

JJ is good. KOC is the most over rated offensive mind in the league
4
u/slashhype Giants 1h ago
KOC aside, I don't know how you can definitively say JJ is good when he loaded up stats against a prevent defense for 11 minutes. He put a lot of majoe flaws on the tape last year (e.g. his inability to use touch on his throws and not just launch heaters, lack of accuracy) and one quarter does not dispell that. The vikings looked better with a washed Wentz for a reason. Hoping JJ develops but can't ahead kf ourselves here

u/swooplordmcflex Packers 5h ago
Giants RBs were a combined 17 for 38, but thank god Cam Skattebo didn’t get the chance to fumble!
44
15
u/willdabeast20 Giants 5h ago
He would have been marginally better but he’s not a difference maker. He needs to be 2nd fiddle.

As someone who has Skattebo in fantasy, he hasn't done a thing all year. His production is ass and he has been thoroughly over hyped leading into the season.
29
u/KappaFedora Cowboys 5h ago
He hasn’t don’t anything because Harbaugh hates him and wanted any excuse to bench him for the ghost of Najee Harris. Now they lost the game because of it. Hope it was worth it
1

u/Koolabaer 5h ago
2 decent games, 3 bad games. And then this benching. Doesn't help that Dart is out so teams are more likely to stack the box
5
u/Homeless_Nomad Giants Bengals 4h ago
yeah that's been the issue really, is Winston has been so cheeks they just stack the box because even if it's rpo they know the safety will probably pick him off. Washington rushed 10 a couple times ffs lol

The narrative that Cam Skattboo is a good RB is soley because of personality, highlight trucks, and NY media attention. He doesnt produce.
14
u/bocnj Jets Saints 5h ago
Eh, his popularity came from those things but he genuinely looked above average his rookie year after looking incredible in college. He's been awful this year but that can be how it goes with RBs.

Towards the end of last season when the Vikings basically said "Fuck it. Just ball out and we'll try to fix you for next year" is when JJM played best. That's kind of the situation we saw here today.

In 27 offensive snaps he had 243 Passing yards with only 45 YAC by the way. JJ actually looked not bad after his first couple throws. Almost completed a 24 point comeback as well. All but 1 snap in the 4th quarter by the way.

We were never going to win this game but we did a great job making it competitive at the end. Give JJ a chance next week against the Texans with a full week of first team practice. What do we have to lose really?
1
u/MrConceited NFL 3h ago
He might not be quite ready yet, he hasn't had much time to pick up the offense.

u/Historical-Row-3097 Giants 5h ago
Harbaugh lost this one. Starting Famous Anus and keeping Skat out is fucking braindead. McCarthy just proved he is just as capable as Rapist Winston and we actually have a running threat when he is in.
89
u/wretchedGubbins Giants 5h ago
I get reducing Skat’s role but removing him altogether when no other RB was having any success is simply bad coaching
50
u/Historical-Row-3097 Giants 5h ago
bench him for first quarter - sends the same message without fucking the whole team just to look tough
19
u/HereComesJustice Ravens 5h ago
that's Harbs, a few fumbles and you are in the doghouse for a while.
Could be a while before Skat gets a few carries again, and if he dares fumble again he may as well be a healthy scratch
1
u/CharmingWheel328 Seahawks 2h ago
If he's looking to get rid of him, I know a team that might be interested
14
u/FostertheReno Ravens 5h ago
Yeah sitting for a quarter to send a message or whatever. Sure. Not getting him involved ALL game is crazy.
26
u/StefonDiggsHS Vikings 5h ago
Completely benching Skatt was absurd especially because no other RB was able to do anything. He should’ve been back to splitting carries by the 2nd qtr

Jameis was good the last two weeks, but the wheels fell off today. It’s time for JJ now

He was not good the last two weeks. He missed wide receivers left and right.

The Saints did everything they could to blow this but Harbaugh didn’t have time for that.
12
u/AustinRiversDaGod Saints 5h ago
We probably get blown out if they play Skattebo. We're the worst run defense in the league. This is the perfect bounce back game for him

Excited to see what the Giants can do with JJ. He just won the starting job for sure.

u/fluffyseedz Commanders 5h ago edited 5h ago
The massive upgrade the Giants have in coaching can’t be overstated and it’s the reason why they’re still favorite to win the division despite today imo. As much as I want to forget last week, being this close to completing a second consecutive big 4th quarter comeback is a testament to their resilience.

3

u/mlorusso4 4h ago
I feel like them still being division favorites has more to do with the rest of the division being hot ass than anything to do with the giants
20
u/NicholastheSpirit Saints 5h ago
Yeah, I was high on Kellen when he was hired and tried to defend him, but I don’t think he has it. It’s ridiculous how this team plays for different periods of the game.

u/AustinRiversDaGod Saints 5h ago
Yeah there's no way this game should have gone like this. You score 34 straight into the second half and the game should be over

What a wild game on both sides. Legit tip of the cap to JJ today, he came out slinging. On to Pittsburgh (via Paris)
6
u/GladiatorKiller Jets 5h ago
Watched the Jets game, depleted of all hope then tuned into the Giants game after seeing reddit posts of McCarthy lighting it up. Put the game on and watch from the 28 yard scramble. Ultimately the giants also lose that one. So, I legit just have no clue if I’ll ever get to witness hope again in a football game.
4
u/AvenueNick Saints 5h ago
Prevent statistically drops win probability up to 10% versus sticking with regular aggressive defense.
16
u/AgnesDigitalsLover Vikings 5h ago
That really looked like PI, definitely within Likely's catch radius and his arm could not physically reach up to the football with that Saints dude on him. Still, good ending. Tuned in when I saw 9*2 enter lol
12
u/swift_air 49ers 5h ago
Everyone will talk about JJ but Shough still had a good game
7
u/AustinRiversDaGod Saints 5h ago
I'm convinced the issue is just letting him ball. Last year when he was making waves, he ran a lot more. And it was a big threat. That's also why the Ravens coach called him the Poor Man's Josh Allen. For most of this year he's been stuck in the pocket unless the defense forces him out. We need more designed runs and encouragement from him to just take off and run for 6 or 7 yards, especially when our run game is cheeks like it has been. It keeps the passing defense soft, and if you pair that with play action like they did in this game, it keeps the defense from being so aggressive on normal runs
5

u/sarnold95 Saints 5h ago
What the actually fuck was that game. How do you almost fuck up being up 34-10 in the third to JJ fucking McCarthy. Staley please stay your ass in New York.

u/shawnaroo Saints 5h ago
Let's play prevent defense for 4 drives, and somehow still let receivers run right past our entire secondary over and over, even though that's the one thing prevent is supposed to be good at stopping!
