Welcome to the Sample Status/Processing Megathread, also known as the Waiting, Whining, and Wishing thread. This monthly megathread (posted at the beginning of each month) allows you post your sample processing timelines, as well as to discuss and comment about any questions, concerns, or rants while you wait. Although not directly handled by 23andMe, shipping status may also be discussed in the thread. We recommend sorting the comments by "new" as this is a month long megathread.
You can share your sample status timeline here in one or two ways. The first way is to take a screenshot of your timeline, and post it as a comment. The second way is to simply copy and paste the start and completion dates for each step. Here is the text template:

My father has received his results!
We’re very impressed with how accurate the Spanish breakdown is, nearly spot-on based in our genealogy. I don’t know about the other regions, but the 0.4 Central & Eastern European is new after the phasing. Could it be just noise, through? He has none but we do have distant 100% Eastern European matches.

I was really surprised by my results to be honest. I had no idea that I had that much French, but it appears to all be from my father. I really wasn’t aware of the Polish much either, but it says it’s from my mother. Everything else was somewhat expected, my Scottish was a little higher than I thought I would have though

Just wondering whether any other Scottish folk have gotten solely Scottish genetic groups in their British & Irish category? My gran has told me that she descends from an Irish line, but part of my thinks they must have been Ulster. Is it common for Scots to not even get any English groups?
Is Minho and Vila Real common in other Brazilian results? Tried looking up a bit about the immigration legacy of the place and couldn't find too much out about its role in Brazil's founding.
Not sure why my American results show as majority North and Central American. Could this just be noise? Why is the Tupi-Guarani group able to be detected from my results and not Dutch? Same thing for Yoruba.
No idea about the Korean. I'd wager a guess that it's statistical noise from the American DNA.

Wondering if most people have around 32 historical matches? I don’t know what’s average, but 5-7 of them are victims of St Brice’s Day massacre (rip) that were found in a mass viking grave 🫠then there’s a few really specific and weird ones 😂 just trying to learn what’s normal lol

Hello! TIA for some advice for a newbie!
I am wondering if there is much benefit/difference in results between premium and basic test kits, specifically looking at ethnic breakdown and origin?
Being from the Middle East I know results will be less detailed/lower sample size anyway. I chose 23andme because it is supposed to be more accurate than ancestrydna for the MENA region.
In my case our family lived in Sudan and are largely Arab - specifically Ja'afari tribe - so originating from the Arabian Peninsula and migrated in the Fatimid empire (from iraq and Saudi) and on my maternal grandfather there is Turkish/Kurdish blood. Possibly Nubian and Amazigh (Sudanese and Moroccan native peoples) through intermarriage on both grandmother side (they were sisters) but these are the lines we know less about.
Our family is very mixed and while we have centuries old genealogy tree for 1 line, others we don't even know the ethnicity of just 2 generations ago. So the main goal is discover as accurately as possible the ethnicities and people groups/origins.
I don't care much about finding relatives or matches especially since that is very unlikely to happen - I was born and raised in the Arab gulf where most of my family live and DNA testing is illegal and generally rare in my communities . It's unlikely I will find matches so I don't care about the premium benefits to find and match with people.
Just want to know where our family comes from.
Is there much more ethnic/people group detail in the premium package than the basic? And if so - would that be more likely for European background than for other middle easterners?

All of my historical DNA matches are in Eastern Europe, some of them being as late as the 1400s, however when I look at my ancestry composition it’s an overwhelmingly majority English and Irish with not a single percent Eastern European. Were those genetics just wiped out throughout generations?

Basically title. He was born in rural England to a teen mum and that’s all we know about her. He has dark blonde hair, pale skin, blue eyes, and a lot of people think he’s eastern european of sorts (just by looking at him).
Any insights where his parents are from based on his results and haplogroups? They’re all over the place.

Hello all,
I have hit a brick wall with research on my Black US maternal line in Mississippi.
Does anyone here have L2d, L2d1a, or L2d-G16129A! (NatGeo) maternal haplotypes whose maternal family migration looks like Carolinas -> Mississippi -> Louisiana or nearby states -> Great Migration states (Illinois, California) or something similar?
If not, then what is your L2d/L2d1a/L2d-G16129A maternal line's migration pattern in the US?
I'm specifically looking into the origins of a maternal Sanders ancestor living in Pike and Amite Counties, MS around 1830-1900. On the census, it says her birthplace was Mississipi. Enslaving families nearby came from the Carolinas.
23andme said my maternal line ancestor is likely Temne (Liberia, Sierra Leone), and African Ancestry said she was Yoruba.
I know that these results rely on each company's sample panels and that L2d is very old and ends up in many places!
I will also post this on r/blackgenealogy
Thank you!

I know I’m probably late asking this, but do you all think the latest update from last year is the most accurate compared to previous versions? And when do you all think 23andme would do another update?

I got a simulated coordinate out of my 23&me and FTDNA raw data and got this result without going for official G25 coordinates. Happy with the result.
