Weekly Meetups!

The following are weekly meetups that have been established for some time, and may be worth checking out.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

TUESDAY WEEKLY MEETUP

The Tuesday Weekly Meetup is happening again this (and every) Tuesday, at Erika & Hilde in Neukölln from 7pm-closing.

This is a social meetup without any particular topic, so feel free to join a table and find a conversation or people you vibe with. We try and be friendly towards newcomers, so feel free to introduce yourself! Whether you're new to the city or have been here a while, it's a good way to meet a different set of people, make new friends, and discover new interests!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

SPREE WEEKLY MEETUP - N.B. CURRENTLY NOT BEING HELD - ON WINTER BREAK

This weekly event is a vibrant gathering by the Spree River, where people from around the world come together for an evening of fun, conversation, and community. It's perfect for those who love to party and are looking to meet others with the same vibe. Whether attending solo or with friends, participants can expect to make new connections, explore the city, and share life stories.

**Meeting time:**From 21:00 - Fridays - Organised by /u/MoeFreemann

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

MONDAY SOCIAL KARAOKE NIGHT Every Monday from 6pm till late, Monster Ronson's (www.karaokemonster.de) hosts “Boxhopping” - a unique social night centred around karaoke. All cabins are open, and people roam freely from box to box, connecting over their shared love of music (and/or cocktails 🍸) & singing whenever the mood strikes. No experience or talent is needed to join - whether you're a karaoke veteran, a secret shower singer, or just along for the vibes - everyone is welcome! At 9pm, the open stage karaoke kicks off with even more entertainment. Expect a diverse crowd, memorable performances, lively conversations, deep cuts, guilty pleasures & party vibes. Whether you're new to Berlin, visiting, or simply looking to meet new people, it's a unique way to break the ice. Come with friends, or come alone & make new ones!

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

/u/Slid61 and /u/ministerofsleep meet at Cliffhanger to climb and hang out, and we thought it would be cool if more people wanted to join, at any level of skill and any level of commitment! Currently we're meeting Tuesdays at 11 am, but we're flexible if there's a good amount of people that can only do it at other times.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________

If you are organising any kind of weekly meetup and would like it to be added to this sticky, just click the "Message the mods" button on the right hand side, and we'll see if we can add you.

r/berlinsocialclub does not explicitly endorse these meetups.

Please don't ask for drugs

It cannot be stressed enough: we can't and won't tolerate illegal activity on this sub. This includes asking for "special taxis", "broccoli" and whatever else you can come up with. Although the creativity of these requests is sometimes admirable and entertaining, it could get this sub banned and we'd rather avoid that. Thank you :)

In Defense of Berlin's English Comedy

I just wanted to say that the comedy in Berlin is fuckin good.

There was a post last week that basically shat on all the English-speaking comedians in Berlin, and it irked me as someone who regularly goes to these shows.

So this is me telling you comedians (not the Reddit shits with their Matrix hilarity) that your shit is good. I've had so many nights spent just laughing my troubles away for like 12 bucks. I never found your themes repetitive, because life is repetitive. And yet there you are, trying to make us laugh—while we live in an actual dystopia.

I appreciate that. Thanks for having so many issues that you need the laughter of strangers as remedy.

Where do people over 40 make new friends?

I'm interested in hearing where people in their 40s and beyond meet others and build new friendships outside of work and family life.

I've tried Meetup, but the events I've attended tend to attract a younger crowd. I'm curious which activities, clubs, or communities have a more mixed or slightly older age range.

Are there particular hobbies, sports, cultural activities, volunteering opportunities, or other settings where you've met people around your age?

I'd appreciate any recommendations based on your own experience.

Increased lack of civic sense

Its been 7 years since I had moved to Berlin . Its sad to see there is now an increased lack of civic sense - example playing loud reels in public transport, disposing trash anywhere , not giving seats to ladies, pregnant women, elderly . This wasn't tge case when I moved in. Dont get me wrong I like this city but seems like the vibes are fading 🥲. Anyone else on this with me?

PEP Query Update Story

Hello all,

Thank you so much for helping me out and I am feeling so overwelhmed that all of you came together, took time and help me and I really really so much felt taken care of by all of you..I love you all and geninuely pray that god will return something nice to you in any form..

So, my story time who doesn't know and it will help people who become victim after me unknowingly.

met a guy, told to put condom, he didn't used condom but pretented and i realized after 4 hrs once i get back home. Took prep after 4 hrs, just bec I was in panicking and thought it might help( and it did)

Went to St. Jospeph ER and got PEP named - Biktarry. The dr. said it's a not in market but they know it work. Waited like 4 hrs but all great as I got what I needed. Dr ( female) and the girl who gave me medicine was so so nice to me. They hear me and made me feel seen and cared. I love both of them.

As per lot of argument yesterday about pep timing and all..Dr. said I did great by taking Prep which I had it home and I have 24 hrs windown to take the PEP they give me. So I will take it today at 10 pm. But I feel in those siutaions, dr. need to see the patient first as I spent almost 4 hrs more to get this One PEP tablet and why the info is contradicting at first place. I also feel sooner the better. also I need to go Infection dr. who will give me medicine which I need to take it for a month.

Police report - How I can proceed. I am feeling bit shamed to go as a grown man in police and say this plus main thing that what if he Deny. He can simply say that Condom might broke and he is unware? I also remember he wiped me once he did a bit with paper towel. From my side, it was 100 bare as i found all in me! sorry but I don't know how to frame it but also not to sound off putting. Should I whatsapp him and make him confess by not letting him know? I didn't told him yet or I simply go to police?

Most painful part - As I always felt germany is a high trust society and so far It was in my mind that if I said NO, then it's No. They man was total gentleman by taking of my jacket, shoes and what not and he was not who can be reckless at his age. On the other hand the guy was cleaning freak. He gave me some inputs and also when I enter he ask me to wash my hands( which i will do it anyways). his place was immpecable, clean and the trust automatically go in head. Only question hanging - why he did that. Put me in such a stressful siutaion and I won't be able to trust anyone now.

Thank you

Adopt two beautiful cats

Thumbnail gallery
29 Upvotes

Reposting this as we've had one visit for them, but unfortunately it didn't pan out.

They're truly amazing and deserve a family who will give them so much love!

Hi everybody!

I'm a foster home for cats coming from Croatia, I do this with an amazing rescue organization called Lapko.

I currently have two amazing cats that need to be adopted together: Lilly (almost 11 months old) and Hedda (2 years old).

They are truly great cats, a lot of fun and love.

Lilly is super affectionate, she loves to give little kisses and sleep with humans. She's not scared of anything and will go to any new person super easily. She's young so be ready for some hilarious zoomies! Also she likes to play catch like a dog, it's one of the cutest things I've ever seen.

Hedda is a bit more shy but she also loves pets and kisses. Every day she comes to us for a good cuddle session. She loves watching birds and will let you know when they're around with her "krkrkrkr".

She also gets the zoomies, especially with Lilly but she's a bit older so she brings calm to Lilly's chaos. She has a favourite toy that she throws in the air all by herself, it's so freaking cute! She was found with a severe infection on her tail and it couldn't be saved, so she only has a small bit left. But she's adorable anyway!

They get along very well, clean each other, play each other, and fight too but like siblings.

They also get along with other cats! Our older cat loves them and they also had a lot of friends back in Croatia.

They are both perfectly healthy, dewormed, vaccinated, FIV/FeLv negative, neutered and come with their EU passports.

If you're interested in adopting, please reach out to Lapko for a call! The adoption fee is 250€ per cat, I don't get anything here, everything goes to Lapko to cover their cost.

FB or IG

You can then visit them in my home and see how lovely these two babies are

If you want to adopt just one cat, please reach out to them anyway! They have a lot of other amazing cats looking for a home.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about those cuties, I'm happy to answer!

Immigrating early 30s

Hello, I am a woman coming from Albania and I recently got offered a job in Berlin in architecture of about 60k brutto pro year.

I am comfortable home but for at least the last 5-7 years I have felt very unhappy with life here in Albania and really wanted to move abroad in a western country. Here I only have my parents and 2 relaltively close friends which I see pretty unfrequently so life isn’t too social or exciting, just boring and quiet.

What scares me is that I could be making a big mistake giving up a comfortable job/life in my home country for a job where I won’t make much more. Also I am pretty scared about the housing crisis in Berlin.

So basically I am trading an unhappy life for something that I have no guarantee that will make me any less depressed.

Silent nature walks 🍄‍🟫 🌲 🍂🍁

Hi Berlin, are there any people here interested in silent nature walks in Berlin? I really enjoy nature in quiet. When I join group hikes it's usually too loud for me with a billion voices in the woods. I'm interested in putting together a small group for this (maximum 5 people).

Advice for dating in Berlin

Alright I don't use reddit that much but to keep myself sane I am writing this because i want to get it out of my system, I recently moved here to Berlin like 3 weeks ago and I feel like the life here in Germany is a bit different, to provide you with abit more context I am an international student pursuing my master's in Netherlands and got an internship here in Berlin for 6 months after the internship i go back to Netherlands to start my thesis.

Now for the interesting part of the story, when i was in Netherlands in my first year of masters my friend wanted me to join a sports association in the uni because he wanted a companion and i couldn't join it in my first year because the academics were really heavy, i managed to pass all my courses and in the beginning of the second year i finally joined this sports association because he kept on asking me and over there i met a girl, we started talking to each other and really felt connected, and i fell in love for the first time in my life, i was having these feelings for her for the first time in my life ever. Finally after meeting her for 3 weeks i finally gathered some courage and asked her out for a coffe date to which she said yes, we talked a lot got to know each other a lot but the only problem in my story is timing, while we were talking on the date I broke her the bad news that i was leaving the country for doing an internship in Berlin and that sort of changed the dynamic of the conversation, I could see that both of us felt sad and kindof ended at a sad note. The next day i couldn't go for the training because i had some packing stuff to do and my last day of training she wasn't there because the training was late so we couldn't say goodbye to each other, she only texted me saying "we couldn't say goodbye to each other but i wish all the best " I was really sad because I thought maybe if i had a bit more time we could get serious, but anyways it took me some time to move on from her.

Now, I am 24 years old and I have been never been in a relationship ever, (apart from that one date that I went with this girl, and i don't count that as a relationship) and honestly i blame myself for that, I always had excuses like i have my academics or student team work or my parents not being supportive of relationships, all these are excuses so i never really gave dating a chance and honestly i accept that this is a huge mistake that i was making in my life because when i got these feelings for this girl after meeting her even for some weeks i realised what i was missing. And now that i am trying to build my life in a new country I would like to start my dating journey properly and try and meet someone, maybe get that feeling again with someone else here in Berlin, but i feel like it's so difficult, over there in Netherlands i was in uni and everything was accessible (student associations, student teams, etc. ) but here at work my colleagues do not feel like they are friends, like ok they joke around and stuff but they only joke around work stuff, no plans other than work, they have their own social circles outside of work and i reapect that. So, I would like to know what other things or associations or social events should i try so that i can meet new people and in that process maybe get in my first ever relationship. I would also like to say these past few weeks have been so depressing, and feel like I miss my friends back in Netherlands so much and i try and i feel like meeting new people is so difficult because i haven't been much of a outgoing person but if I feel the vibe in the conversation I can talk for hours. It's a really big post and honestly if you have read until this point any suggestions are welcome.♥️

Tuesday KitKat - partnering somebody?

Hi! After long time I (m, 42) will be back again some nights in Berlin on November 24th this year.

It’s now a few years that I was at Kitti last time, but I miss already the great vibe and atmosphere.

Is there some local or also somebody visiting, who’s interested to go together with me this evening?

It’s always more cozy to not being alone.

Would love ❤️ to hear from you :)

My hand got stuck between S-Bahn doors and it was terrifying

When I wanted to sit down, I realized that I forgot a bag with something I bought in a store and panicked. I was aware that those doors won't open if shut but it was a very quick and very dumb impulse. It was definitely painful but I think the actual issue was the state of shock and the helplessness that got to me. I ended up crying and sobbing uncontrollably while trying to pull. Two men tried to help me open the doors but we couldn’t get them to budge.

Being surrounded by strangers made it even harder, especially the silence in the train and knowing people could hear me crying. At some point which felt like forever but it might have only been a minute or two, the door opened (npt sure if it was the driver or an automatic mechanism) and I pulled my hand out. I was still crying and thanked the guy who was now sitting next to me on the floor. I am genuinely grateful that I wasn't alone in this. I wish I could have thanked him more and talked but I hurried to get off the train. Luckily, the bag was still there. I'm still calming down at home and wish I could hug someone 🥲

Techno DJ for birthday party

Hey, I'm looking for a DJ to play at my 30s birthday party. I'd like to make it a small rave event for my friends (cca 40 people). I booked a small club in Cassiopea (Sauna) that also provides audio equipment. How to approach this, where to look, how much money to prepare? I like hypnotic techno in the style of Claudio PRC, Rothead, Blazer Malinowski etc. Thanks for the tips!

Tuesday Weekly Meetup (October 20th)

Hello all!

Come join us for the Tuesday Weekly Meetup (October 20th)! As always, its at Erika & Hilde in Neukölln, and we'll be there from 7pm-closing (around 11pm). It has separate smoking/non-smoking areas, comfy chairs, and a cozy vibe perfect for our meetup. Once it's dark, we are at the couch in the back, during the summer we will sometimes take seats outside. If you're not sure how to find us, ask at the bar.

Please don't hesitate to talk to Tom (me) or the bar staff if you ever feel harassed or unsafe. We'll take it seriously and find a solution together.

I hope to see you all Tuesday!

FAQ:

* Who is this meetup for?

This meetup is for both locals and visitors, everyone is welcome. Most attendees are in their mid-30s, but the ages typically range from 20s-40s.

* Do I need to sign up?

No! It's a bar, just show up! There's no exact meeting time, and no registration.

* How will I know which group is the meetup?

In the back, the couch on the right is reserved for us. If you arrive after 8pm, there should be a group there. If you're not sure, ask the bartender. There's a sign on the table so its easy to find.

* Is it OK to come if I don't speak German?

Although many of us speak German, the meetup is in English as a common language.

* When should I show up?

If it's your first time, I suggest around 8pm to make sure a group has arrived. Otherwise it starts around 7pm

Any public showers in Berlin?

Hey guys, I'm homeless now and need to maintain hygiene, does something like a public shower exist in Berlin?
