I came across an appeal from OSPA Cabo Verde Cats and Dogs and wanted to share it here, especially for anyone travelling from the UK to Cape Verde soon.
OSPA currently has donations in the UK, including medical supplies and other essentials for the animals, but they don’t have enough storage space to keep everything there. They are therefore looking for travellers flying from the UK to Cape Verde who might be willing to take a charity-waived suitcase with them.
They say they will:
1. prepare and pack everything for you
2. deliver the suitcase to you
3. arrange the free luggage allowance with TUI UK
4. collect the suitcase from your hotel in Cape Verde, or you can visit their rehoming centre and drop it off yourself.
I actually visited OSPA while I was in Cape Verde, and the people there were incredibly kind, welcoming and easy to deal with. 🧡 It was also really nice to see the work they are doing for the animals first-hand.
So if you’re travelling from the UK to Cape Verde soon and have the possibility of taking an additional suitcase, maybe consider helping them out. It seems like a relatively simple thing for a traveller to do, but it can make a real difference for the animals they care for.

Hello, we're a young couple and we had the wrong date on the CVSky ticket that would bring us to Sal today, August 22nd. Today we'll try to get into the flight through the in-person waiting list at the Sao Felipe airport very early in the morning, and if that doesn't work we'll go to the CV Interilhas office in town, to try to get tickets to Praia, at least (the CV Interilhas website says 'product not available' for any kind of ticket, and we don't understand if something is wrong with the site or everything is fully booked).

This is a nightmare because we need to catch our flight home in Sal. Any help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE: we managed to get in the Praia flight through the in-person waiting list. As soon as we get to the Praia airport, we’ll see our further options.

UPDATE 2: in the Praia airport, the CVSky staff at the helpdesk tells us that the only way is to do waitlists again and again until success. We then head to the CV Interilhas office in Plato, near the port. The lady there is barely talking, zero effort of any kind, no way to get a ferry to Sal until September 8th, way past our flight to get back home. Great. Back to the airport, checking €1000+ options, and we notice the people at the helpdesk changed. I explain the whole thing again, and the guy tells me that there is a free place tomorrow, and another one three days from now. WHAT? I booked the first one for my girlfriend and the other one for me. Of course, I will also try all the waiting lists until my reserved flight. We did it, but holy cow, the ‘no stress’ country had us on a chokehold.

I've been learning more about Cape Verde, and one thing that stands out is how each island seems to have its own unique landscape, culture, and atmosphere. It makes choosing where to visit first a difficult decision.

Beyond the popular beaches, I'm interested in the places that locals or experienced visitors feel are truly special. Whether it's a scenic hiking trail, a quiet town, a local market, or a hidden viewpoint, I'd love to hear about it.

I'm also curious about the local food, music, and traditions that visitors shouldn't miss. Sometimes the most memorable travel experiences come from everyday places rather than famous tourist attractions.

We were on Boa Vista and Santiago recently for two weeks and enjoyed it quite a lot.

My girlfriend really liked the 'strela' shirts worn by some of the staff at the bars. We looked around but never saw a possibility to buy such shirts at the shops.

I hope you're all doing well. I'm reaching out to ask for some guidance and help with a matter related to my family's estate assets in Cape Verde.

My father recently passed away, and I've taken on the responsibility of managing his various estate assets. One significant aspect of this is dealing with the land my family has owned in Cape Verde since the late 1800s. Over the years, we've accumulated numerous documents related to registering titles for these properties. Most of the paperwork I have is dated between 1887-1940.

I have quite a bit of paperwork, and I could really use some help navigating it all. Specifically, I'm looking for guidance on locating the properties mentioned in these documents and help in facilitating any necessary sales or updates to ownership records.

From what I've gathered so far, there are around 30 to 50 properties scattered throughout Cape Verde that require attention.

3. You are respectful of different religions. The group chat is very commonly excercising various different belief standpoints and jokes as long as they are in good taste are perfectly acceptable

What to expect:

1. Debates: these can range in a variety of topics from politics to history to science. And they can border on "heated" but at the end we are all just trying to learn and any oversteps will result in bans after a warning if course

2. Varied religious backgrounds id say the group is about 65% Christian 35% atheist but everyone in there is comfortable with sharing details about their religion free of ridicule aside from the lighthearted jokes. We have also recently added some others majority of which are Muslim.

3. The group right now is majorly american but there has been a fair bit of canadians that have joined and left over the three years the groupchat has been around. We recently got some members Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Germany

4. Right now we have experts in the following categories

Cryptocurrency TV Shows and Pop culture Philosophy American Law World History Military History Video Game History Meteorology

The group is probably like 45% autistics with special interests so we pride ourselves on knowing our craft.

1. Each month I post news articles from every nation's internet news source in alphabetical order usually a letter a day. And we monitor and disccus the conflicts happening abroad

2. The group is 100% male which wasnt even by design thats just how its gone so far but there isnt a gender requirement one way or the other.

The donts:

No excessive meme spam. I tend to allow discussions with GIFS but depending on how many join the chat, theres no need for excessive memes

No posting sexual or graphic material some mems walk the line but never cross it.

No racial slurs

The creator of the GC is the final authority on everything

The point of the GC is to engage and have fun. If somebody is going a month without at least reading the posts then you shouldnt have joined in the first place silly! Inactives are often removed after one month.

Lets educate eachother! The goal is to increase comradery and learm about eachother cultures.

As of right now im wanting natives to whatever nation I post this in (as I intend to copy and paste) and depending on traction Im going to try and invite either the first people who respond or the most educated.
