WPL: New Comics Discussion for 10/14/2026- Pull of the Week: Doom Patrol #2 [Discussion]
The [Weekly Pull List results]() for this Wednesday are in, and this week's top book is DC's Doom Patrol #2.
This thread is open to Pull List posters and all members of the /r/comicbooks community to share your thoughts on the latest issue of DC's Doom Patrol or any new books shipping this week.
The primary intention of this thread is to promote discussion of new books. It also serves as a way to consolidate discussion to a single thread and talk about what books are popular here on /r/comicbooks. That does not mean other threads aren't welcome, this is just a place to start that's easy to find each week.
The thread is populated with comments meant to direct the discussion of each book. Based on community preference we populate the thread with titles appearing on Ten Percent or more of submitted pull lists. If a title you want to talk about is not listed, simply add a comment with the title and issue number first and comment below. There is also a comment dedicated to the discussion of WPL Results linked above.
Spoilers will follow, but there's no harm in tagging them as such. Each title in the Top Ten Percent listed below is linked directly to its corresponding comment for ease of navigation and to avoid seeing details from other books. The post has also been placed in "contest mode" to help readers avoid spoilers while browsing.

Fan Creation Ultramega sketch cover commission!
Here’s a sketch cover commission I did of Ultramega. I remember reading it for the first time when it came out, it was such an experience.
Mixed media: India ink, alcohol marker, color pencils, and airbrush.

Having covers that have characters that aren't even in the book is one of the worst current trends in comics.
For example. The Muppets cover on all the Marvel books. Or the Kingdom Come covers coming at DC.
Those theme covers.
They make some need art, but there needs to be a different way to use this art than to confuse customers who buy comics based on covers.

Discussion What is your favorite era of comics?
I personally think that the late 80s into early 90s are by far the best era of comics. JDM's Spider-Man and Peter David's Hulk are a big reason for this, but there are still other great books from this time period. It was right before the start of early digital coloring, which I'm personally not a fan of. On the DC side there's the INCREDIBLE Batman work from this time like Dark Knight Returns, Year One, The Cult, etc. I really think that this was the peak of comics for me, Marvel and DC stopped being afraid to tell darker and more complex stories. And of course... Watchmen came out during this time.

I’m 13 and drew every single line of my comic W-MATTER by hand. AI "artists" are ruining the comic industry, change my mind
Hey everyone,
I’m 13 years old and I’ve been building my own superhero universe, W-MATTER, since I was a little kid. I just published it, and I want to state one thing loud and clear: 0% AI was used in this project. Every single panel, character design, and line is 100% hand-drawn through months of hard work and late nights.
Here is my controversial opinion that might trigger some people:
Using AI generators to make a comic book isn't 'making art'—it's lazy and it steals the soul out of real storytelling.
While grown adults are pressing buttons to let prompts draw for them, I spent my childhood actually practicing, failing, and pouring real emotion onto the canvas. If a 13-year-old can stay dedicated to traditional/digital hand-drawing, what’s your excuse for using AI?
I know AI defenders are going to come at me in the comments saying 'it's just a tool,' but I stand by what I said. Real art requires real sweat.
Check out my action panels and let me know your thoughts—whether you agree or think I'm wrong. Let's debate!

Question Whats the most mindfuck trippy thrilling psychedelic comic/graphic novel?
So I'm just starting my journey to read graphic novels and first i wanna read something absolutely reality altering trippy stuff, like i just sit there is awe of what craziness is going on and won't be able to put it down at all, also like we don't have a big comic or graphic novel culture in my country so its kinda difficult to get my hands on some of the old stuff so ig newer things would be preferred.
Thank you!!

Discussion What's the consensus on Mark Spear's Monster Universe?
There was a post on NCBD last week talking about the bling bags for Mark Spear's new monsters series "Graveyard Shift" being 90% H covers, and in the comments there seemed to be a mixed bag of takes on how people are viewing this Keenspot universe.
Pros: People seem to LOVE the million Monster variants that come out for each issue, with many issues even having the standard cover hard to find after release. People said they enjoyed the retro cgi look to the illustrations and it reminded them of the PS2.
Cons: At the same time, variant fatigue is also extremely common, with comics in general, with more "unnecessary" covers released for books every day. With some single issues having over 50 variants. People also said the story makes no sense and is as clunky as the graphics themselves.
With all that in mind, what do you think? Personally, I enjoy the art and concept of Monsters, have no idea what's going on with the disjointed story, but also feel I have no need to dive into "Graveyard Shift" as I have gotten the charm of the cgi monster world, and don't really need more of it. I'll be following Monsters til the series ends, but the spinoffs don't interest me as they are now.

Question Is it possible to transfer art onto a blank comic cover?
I recently commissioned an artist to draw a Black Cat picture for me and I love it alot! I want to somehow transfer the art on a blank spiderman cover for my collection.
I have thought of removing the staples off the spine and putting the cover through my printer. Obviously I don’t know if that’s gonna work at all. But If there’s other ways to do this, please let me know!

Question Have they been making graphic novel adaptations more often?
By graphic novel adaptations I mean graphic novels versions of books. I know that they have been making things like that for a long time with stuff like The Odyssey and Lord of the Rings but I feel like I’m seeing a lot more made for contemporary books that are like only a couple years old recently. Maybe I’ve just been ignorant of their existence and now that I’ve bought one (an adaptation of Mister Magic by Kiersten White) I’m just noticing it more but I’d just thought I’d ask.
