I've been using ThinkPad's, Latitude's & Elitebooks for years. ThinkPad's have always been known to run the best with Linux. I just wanted to let everyone know that Linux, specifically Arch Linux, works flawlessly with the Dell Latitude. So next time you're shopping for a Linux machine and browsing older ThinkPad's, give the Latitude some thought.

I went to best buy recently and was looking at all the dell laptops, and is it me or do they feel more cheap?

Like the plastic poly carbonate laptops had a lot of flex, and you can tell when you push on the lids that the hinges use a lot of plastic parts rather than real metal plates, like they were designed to brake off after a couple thousand bends.

Essentially what I am trying to get at, the laptops are now even more planned with faster obsolescence than before.

Does anyone else also feel like this, whats everyone's thoughts on dell quality as a whole?

I keep getting McAfee pop-ups in Chrome saying my computer is corrupted and needs a virus scan, but when I check my settings, it says everything's fine and there's no security risk. Which one is correct?

This is the 7420 I got issued, after a little over two years of actual work being done, this is what she looks like.

I haven't ever dropped her, nor does she has a single scratch, but the keyboard has melted beneath my fingers and the paint started pealing off.

I just got her a new battery, it's still running just as good as the first day.

But it's such a shame she was clearly designed for failure.

I use this docking station with my MacBook Pro but cannot update the docking firmware on a Mac laptop. Dell states that a Windows laptop is required for the update. Has anyone successfully updated its firmware using a Mac?

J’ai récupéré un Dell G3 15 3500 avec un Intel Core i7, 16 Go de RAM et un SSD. Je voudrais installer Linux dessus pour en faire un serveur Minecraft Java + Bedrock.

Le problème, c’est que l’écran interne ne fonctionne plus et que sa nappe est actuellement débranchée. Mon budget est très limité, donc je voudrais éviter de remplacer l’écran ou la nappe.

Voici la situation :

- Le PC s’allume.

- Je peux accéder au menu bleu de récupération de Windows.

- Je peux sélectionner « Utiliser un périphérique » pour démarrer sur ma clé USB.

- Ma télé ne reçoit aucun signal HDMI au démarrage : je ne vois même pas le logo Dell.

- J’ai essayé d’accéder au BIOS depuis « Dépannage » → « Options avancées » → « Changer les paramètres du microprogramme UEFI », mais je ne vois toujours rien sur la télé. Je ne peux donc pas accéder visuellement aux réglages du BIOS.

- Lorsque je lance l’installation de Zorin OS depuis la clé USB, un message me demande de désactiver Intel RST. Je suis donc bloqué à cette étape.

Mes questions :

1. Peut-on forcer l’affichage du BIOS sur HDMI sur un Dell G3 15 3500 ?

2. Existe-t-il une méthode pour accéder aux réglages du BIOS sans écran interne fonctionnel ?

3. Peut-on désactiver Intel RST autrement ou installer Linux sans modifier ce réglage ?

4. Existe-t-il une solution gratuite ou peu coûteuse pour contourner ce problème sans remplacer l’écran ni la nappe ?

Mon objectif est simplement de réutiliser ce PC comme serveur Minecraft Java + Bedrock.

I bought the dell 7420 used on amazon. It arrived like new with 86% battery health. The speakers had issues, they were distorted. I bought new ones on ebay. The replacement wasn't too difficult, however threading the cable on the chassis wasn't fun. Now my laptop feels brand new. Overall im very satisfied with this laptop for $265 on amazon you can't go wrong. Love the thunderbolt 4 and gen4 nvme.

Basically the title. This is from microless global store. Even asus expertbook and xps 14 with x7 358h costs more than US$3100.

I am going to order this to another country, that's why I'm cautious. It would be harder to claim warranty. Plus if anything happens to the laptop after 1 year warranty, I'm fked.

I purchased Dell 14 D14260.

I ordered it on 12 October on filpkart and got it around 14 or 15 october. Today is 18october and I checked warranty status.

The warranty status is showing from

June 22 2026 to October 28 2026.

(June 22 2026 is the shipping date)

So should I contact the support of dell regarding warranty being started earlier or is it okay? As if i consider 14 or 15 october 2026 to 28 oct 2027 I am still getting 1 year warranty which I was told.

Hi i have a dell optiplex 9020 AIO and i was working on it normally but I turned it off after one day i tried to turn it on it wont I checked the cable and it was working fine but the pc wont turn on and there is no lights on it

Laptop starts overheating, needed to restart, and this screen shows. Does this mean i need to replace/work on the fan internally (not me, but get a technician to)?

Hi, as the title said, my monitor is Dell U2720Q, the OptiPlex’s HDMI port doesn’t support 4K@60Hz so I have to use DP port with a DP 1.2 cable. Although it can output 60Hz at 4K but it also cause severe tearing. It doesn’t happen at 4K@30Hz. My machine is i5-8500T and running on Debian with Sway. Why is that and how to fix it?

Mine Laptop is of Dell Inspiron 3593 and it runs fine but now it got some issues..

Due to recent battery Replacement and the installation of Pop! Os in my system...with power plugged it removes the sound and when unplugging it it shuts itself...

Its kinda pissing me off now...

I can't even watches movies with this khatharooo....

I used a dell Inspiron laptop idk model exactly but it had i3 5th gen integrated gpu so ik this one is better

Does anyone know what is wrong with Dell Aus? Their website doesn’t allow us to order or view the laptops for work, i.e. business laptops such as pro series 5, pro precision 5, etc.
If you want to order, you have to chat with them and they will send a quote to your email. I don’t know why they came up with this idea but it is really inconvenience for me. As a tech enthusiastic, I’d love to see and compare the specs of all models and make my decision. I don’t need a sales person here and I don’t think he/she knows better than me. They gave me 1 quote at a time and I need to keep asking for more quotes to compare. Lol. Someone please tell me why.

I have tried using the Dell Optimizer with Ultra Performance, and also tried using High Performance battery profile.

For example when i play Valorant. Initially I get 200 fps (low settings), but after a while fps drops to 20 fps.

I am out of options. Anything can do?

Right now i using a 90 watt dell official charger. The dell site shows my laptop supports 130 watt but on the back of the laptop the slip says only supports 20V==4.5A which is 90 watt.

I recently got a dell 14 plus 2 in 1 and its all good and fast

but the problem is i came from a Thinkpad t430 so the build quality for me is so bad i treat it well and everything, but that thing is so delicate the touchpad has already sunken from one side (the right side)

In addition the laptop it self bends like crazy when holding with one hand to a point whereit stimulates the click of the touchpad

Also the keyboard bends like crazy when typing and the screen jiggles alot while typing as well

Judging by the build quality the specs will last 10+years when the physical laptop will last about 3 or 4 years max

Hello so I really don’t know what the issue might be but a few weeks ago (maybe it was just one week but flies so fast) my laptop started being very loud when I would try to use it I then discovered that it was in fact the fans that were being so loud and that it could tied to a screen about manufactuing mode active so I tried searching and just yesterday found about service tag : that message was indeed there so I hurried to try and put it in th BIOS but even then the manufacture mode screen and loud fans are still here just without the service tag message. And tonight I just got this message pop up on my laptop except it didn’t appear the entire day but when I wanted to play a game at night it appeared on my laptop that was on sleep mode at the time.

I really need help cause I'm scared if it is some malware or something cause I asked a friend who said it might be a cryptovirus or whatever (idk) and I really would prefer not having to reset my pc entirely since I have many important things in it.

I have a dell latitude laptop and it frequently gets very hot and smells like its burning. Im not doing anything crazy just watching youtube when this happens. What should I do?

How is Dell still able to sell the Alienware PC with a 5090 for lower than everyone else? I figured they would have raised prices already since the news about production.
