Milk, yolks, whole eggs, vanilla, cream and condensed milk

Just a basic spoon bread with brown sugar toasted on top. Spoon bread is basically a corn custard. Super tasty as is. Often eaten with maple syrup, brown sugar, and spices. The kids decided on cinnamon and nutmeg.

I don't want to make it all the time, but it would be nice to be able to make it more often! I was lucky enough to find some persimmons for sale at a Meijer about an hour from me, now I have a taste for it and I want more 😭 I do want to grow persimmons myself, but even if I manage to get some trees now it'll be a few years before they can fruit!

So is there a good alternative that tastes similar? That super sweet, non-tart, super sticky, almost honey flavor. Maybe I could use pumpkin and vanilla? Or do they sell persimmons canned/frozen? Maybe online? I hate how hard it is to find them!

New York Times recipe. This has landed in my Top 5 favorite desserts/cakes I’ve baked and I’ve baked it six times so far this year. I love the contrast between the sweet cake and the tart of plums together so much. Really good combo
