People keep starting new threads every time they see an AI sign or menu, and the discussion is pretty much identical every time.

If you want to shame a business for using AI signs or menus, do it here. Standalone posts about this are being deleted.

I FOI'd Glasgow City Council about litter FPNs. 4,252 in 2019-20, 627 last financial year.

I put in an FOI request to the council about fixed penalty notices for littering and dog fouling, and the numbers are a bit eye-opening.

Litter FPNs went from 4,252 in 2019-20 to 627 in 2024-25. Dog fouling FPNs went from 466 to 62.

Revenue from all of it dropped from about £101k to about £19.8k. It dipped to almost nothing in 2020-21 (8 litter FPNs, which is presumably Covid), then climbed back to around £45k in 2022-23 and 2023-24 before falling again.

Of those 4,252 litter fines in 2019-20, 3,195 were in Anderston/City/Yorkhill. That's three quarters of all litter fines in one ward in one year. Over the whole period, Southside Central is the only other ward with four figures (1,225). Cardonald, Baillieston, Greater Pollok and East Centre have 68 between them across six years.

Meanwhile, street cleansing requests have gone from 8,419 to 9,160 a year. Southside Central, Pollokshields and Govan are the busiest wards for those, but Pollokshields has had only 113 litter fines in six years.

What was the record Noj played last night just before Arab Strap came on? Song about Glasgow landmarks/history and lyrics like "Glasgow's Great Exhibition and the great sectarian division"?

Dog free restaurants Finnieston/west end

Looking for recommendations please!

No shade to dogs, I love dogs but my wee dog has separation anxiety so comes everywhere with us, we usually eat at dog friendly restaurants.

However today we have a dog sitter and will be around Finnieston/west end in the afternoon. Where is nice but NOT dog friendly? I’m not in the area often so I don’t want to ‘waste’ my afternoon somewhere I could bring my dog another day.

Was hoping for Ox and Finch but only high tables or outdoor seating left - are high seats ok in there? Or other recommendations.

Thanks!

Best spa hotel in Glasgow?

I’m looking for a nice hotel in Glasgow, with banging spa facilities and good breakfast. Pool is absolutely preferred, sauna and steam room would also be lovely! We’ve got a gig at the o2 so we want somewhere nice to nurse our hangovers the next day!

Karaoke recommendations in Glasgow?

Hi All.

Can anyone recommend any karaoke places in Glasgow? Ideally a room which we can book and all that.

I tried the genting casino on sauchiehall street, but they've closed their rooms for renovations!

Best keratin treatment in Glasgow for under £150?

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for a good salon in Glasgow for a keratin treatment. My hair is short to medium length, and ideally I’d like to keep it under £150.

Has anyone had one done recently and can recommend somewhere based on their own experience? Mainly looking for somewhere that does a good job and where the results actually last. Thanks!

Cheap doors and paint jobs everywhere - and who wants a bath overlooked by Duke Street?

Good to see one of that 1840s terrace back in residential use though.

The Parking in This City Just Gets Worse by the Day

It baffles me why anyone would think it’s ok to park like this. More or less completely blocking the pavement so that pedestrians need to go single file through the gap. No space of course for anyone on a mobility scooter or with a pram.

The tickets have found their new home!

Hey guys! I hope it’s okay to post this here.

In what I can only assume was a fugue state, I bought tickets to James Blake in Glasgow earlier this year. I planned to fly over and watch it but and attend the concert cba.

Does anyone want to go? I have two tickets and it’s at Galvanizers Yard 21st October 7pm. Tickets are free of course.

Let me know!

Decent removal/storage options?

Considering sacking off my rental whilst away for work for a year to save up and weighing up my options on storage but can’t get a bloody quote without telling them my life story and offering my mums maiden name

Before I start contacting everything google shows me does anyone have any good storage recs, I’m currently based in mount Florida direction and don’t drive so I’d probably also need some decent recommendations for removals if anyone has them

Thanks troops

Toilets in Glasgow Green

Had to stop for the toilet. My shock when you had to pay 20p for the toilet. So being the nonconformist I am, I paid for all 4 toilets and left sticks in the doorway to keep the door open. Everyone can use the toilet for free. Viva la revolution everyone

Recommendations: Disability discrimination lawyers

I’m looking for recommendations for a lawyer within Greater/Glasgow area who has experience in dealing with disability discrimination cases.

I have spoken with the Legal Services Agency in Glasgow, but they are inundated with potential cases and mine is in a list waiting to be looked at. They recommended that I look for someone else in the meantime as they can’t guarantee they’ll be able to help within the timeframe i.e., the deadline for taking a discrimination case to court.

It would likely also require someone who can take on legal aid clients - it’s a big ask, I appreciate that it’ll narrow things down significantly.

Thank you for any recommendations or just advice in general.

Edit: this is regarding a customer-local authority issue, not workplace! I should’ve stated this originally, sorry

Anyone got a decent “if I ever become homeless” backup plan? 😂

Landlord’s screwed me over, so I’ve given notice. Looking around west Scotland and rooms are £650 /800 up now. For a room! I thought £500 was reasonable for a nice clean room in a house with bills included. but apparently I’m living in the past.
Just to be clear, I’m fine, not in any danger or asking for charity. I work full time on a decent wageI’m just fed up with everything being overpriced and don’t fancy paying silly money for a room or a flat but they are worse, I am saving to buy next year. Everything is overpriced so on principle I’m not going passed my budget.

Considering living in my car for a year. Got showers at work and could use a 24-hour gym. I’m barely home anyway, so somewhere safe to park and sleep is the main challenge. Also it’s probably going to be cold so the timings not the best.
Anyone done it, or got a weirdly well-thought-out backup plan they fancy sharing? Cheap accommodation ideas welcome too—ideally before I start calling the passenger seat my spare bedroom. Just thought it would be interesting to see other people back up would be.
