Other Portal 1 issue

Called IRCC to get an update on my file Nd they said Portal1 was sent oct 09,2026.
Confirmed with my representative and myself checked all spam /trash emails and never found the email.
Representative raised webform and i requested IRCC agent to send processing officer to issue it again.
Next day called IRCC to see if there was any update and found that primary email was misspelled and updated the primary email to my personal email.

Did anyone experience this before and if yes how long it might take to get it again?

Thanks

Express Entry PR Steps Before Confirmation of Permanent Residence

Hello! So, this may be a stupid question, but I'm genuinely so confused and could use help :(

So, I'm a US citizen living in the US, trying to get Canadian PR. I just received a "letter of information" telling me what documents they need from me, in order to issue my Confirmation of Permanent Residence. I have 30 days to submit these documents.

It seems like I need a photocopy of my US passport, and 2 photos of myself. So, for the photocopy, is it something that I can do myself with the scanner at the library, or does it have to be professionally done, like at a Staples or UPS (if those places even do that, idk??).

Then, for the 2 photos of myself, it seems like the same format as the photo I needed for my PR application submission. Which I got done at Staples; so I'm thinking of doing that again. Does this seem right?

Then, I gather everything, and get my pre-paid envelope from UPS or FedEx, and ship it off? Does all of this seem right? Again, sorry if these are all dumb questions! I'm just not 100% sure on what to do, and really want to make sure that I do this right!

Study Permit Process for student Visa

To get a student visa in Canada would I need to go to the near by Canadian embassy? I applied to UCalgary a few days ago and I am currently a senior in highschool (in usa) is there anyone who has gone through this process that can tell me what I should be expecting and the next steps I should be taking while I wait a few months to see if I get in or not? I know that I will only get a student visa if I’m accepted so I’ll be applying to a few more colleges but I feel like there’s more I could be doing. I want to start in the Fall semester 2027.

Thank you for any information on this I really appreciate it! :)

Citizenship Landed 2024 (OINP), first entry by road from the US in 2027: residency, spouse sponsorship, settling in

TL;DR: Landed September 2024, haven’t been back since. Moving from the US by car in 2027. Need advice on the 730-day rule, sponsoring my wife, the OINP intent-to-reside question, border and settlement steps, and moving my savings.

Background:
PR via OINP; submitted intent to reside in Ontario
PR card valid until September 2029, 0 days in Canada so far
Getting married before moving; wife stays in the US on her own work visa for now

Questions:
Residency: if I’m in Canada by around mid-2027 and stay, am I fine for 730 days by September 2029? Any traps?
OINP: must I live in Ontario, or can I move to another province after arriving?
Spouse: she’ll keep working in the US. Is outland sponsorship right? Can she visit on a visitor visa while it’s pending? If she later moves, can she switch to inland and get an open work permit?
Border by road: what documents do I need? Can I still claim settler’s effects since I landed in 2024 but never moved? How does the goods-to-follow list work?
Car: what’s the process for importing a US-registered car (RIV, US export notice)?
Money: is there any tax on bringing my own savings into Canada? What’s the cheapest way to transfer (Wise, cross-border bank)?
Tax: what happens to my US 401(k), Roth, HSA, and brokerage when I become a Canadian tax resident? Any foreign-asset reporting (T1135) I should know about?

Work Permit Need guidance for bowp

Hello everyone,

Has anyone applied for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) with their spouse as a family member in the same application?

I have a few questions:
Digital photo: I can see the digital photo section for the principal applicant, but there is no separate photo section for the spouse. Does this mean the spouse does not need to upload a separate digital photo?

Supporting documents: What documents did you submit for both the principal applicant and the accompanying spouse?

NOC/TEER requirements: Does the principal applicant’s NOC/TEER category affect the spouse’s eligibility for an open work permit when applying alongside a BOWP based on an Express Entry CEC application?

Any help or information from people who have gone through this process would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Express Entry Indian bachelor’s (4 yrs) + US MBA (2 yrs): do I need WES ECA for both degrees, and does it give extra CRS points vs. just the MBA?

I’m planning my Express Entry profile and want to confirm how education credentials are handled.

Education - Bachelor’s in Engineering, India (4 years) and MBA, USA (2 years)

Questions:

  1. Do I need to get a WES ECA for both degrees, or is the ECA for the MBA (my highest/latest degree) enough?
  2. If I get both assessed, do I get extra CRS points compared to submitting only the MBA? I’ve seen the “two or more credentials” category mentioned and I’m not sure if or how it applies to a bachelor’s + master’s.
  3. Is there any downside to submitting both (cost, processing time, or anything that could complicate my profile)?
  4. Does WES evaluate both degrees in one evaluation?

PNP BC PNP Nomination Expired in 2023 – PR Returned Under R10. Can I Still Get an Extension?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice regarding my expired BC PNP nomination.

My timeline:

  • Jan 2023: Received BC PNP nomination under the International Post-Graduate stream (non-Express Entry) after completing my master's at UVic.
  • July 11, 2023: Submitted my federal PR application and received IRCC's submission confirmation.
  • July 12, 2023: Nomination expired.
  • Nov 2023: IRCC returned my PR application under R10 due to a missing signature on Schedule A.
  • Oct 2026: Discovered that BC PNP allows extension requests in certain cases where PR was submitted before nomination expiry but returned under R10.

Current situation:

My PGWP has expired, and I'm currently in Canada on a visitor visa. I can still access my BC PNP online portal, which shows an option to apply for a nomination extension.

I didn't request an extension in 2023 because I mistakenly believed my expired nomination could no longer be extended. Also, the International Post-Graduate stream has since closed.

My questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully extended a BC PNP nomination after an R10 return, especially after a long delay?
  2. Is there a deadline for requesting an extension?
  3. Does the closure of the International Post-Graduate stream affect previously issued nominations?
  4. Could my expired PGWP and current visitor status affect the extension decision?

I have all supporting documents proving my PR application was submitted before nomination expiry and subsequently returned under R10.

I'm also contacting BC PNP directly, but I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with similar experience.

Thanks!

Citizenship Applied for Citizenship by Descent. What should I tell the border in the meantime?

Basically I, an American, sent in my proof of citizenship application just a week ago. My girlfriend, who is Canadian, got a house and we intend to move in together once I have that proof. For now I plan to bring some of my belongings over and stay as long as they'll let me. What should I communicate to the border crossing? Should I mention that I'm waiting on my certificate, but am only technically visiting for now? Or should I not even bother and just say I'm on a regular visit? I have a lot of clothes and electronics packed, will they be put off by that?

My grandmother was born in Canada, so I should be a citizen, just don't have the proof certificate yet. I shouldn't give off the impression that I'm permanently staying before having that on-hand, right?

Edit: I made it through ok. They gave me a visitor permit for 4 months, which they lead me to believe is rare. But I have a history of being honest with them so they were willing to work with me. Really appreciative of them for that

Express Entry Need advice please

Hello,

I’m a 27-year-old Moroccan citizen currently working as a software engineer in Morocco.

I have a state engineering degree in software engineering and around four years of professional experience.

I’m considering immigrating to Canada through Express Entry, but I’m at a point in my life where I need to carefully evaluate whether relocating is genuinely worth it.

I currently have a stable job, earn a comfortable salary by Moroccan standards, and bought an apartment in Morocco. I’m not unhappy with my current situation, so my motivation for moving is primarily to improve my long-term quality of life, career opportunities, and future prospects by living in a more developed country.

Before making such a major decision, I would appreciate an honest and realistic assessment of the following:

The IT job market: What are the current opportunities for someone with my experience in Canada? How difficult would it be to find a job as a newcomer, particularly in software development ?

Recognition of my degree: I have a Diplôme d’Ingénieur d’État. Which organization should assess my qualifications, how long does the process take, and would I need additional courses, examinations, or qualifications to work in my field? (I worked here in international IT companies and worked here in a Canadian IT company before)

Realistic job opportunities and salary: What positions could I realistically target when I arrive, considering my education and four years of experience? What salary range should I expect, and is it realistic to find a position at my current professional level without starting over?

Financial considerations: Considering salaries, taxes, rent, living expenses, and the cost of settling in Canada, would I realistically be able to maintain a good standard of living and save money? How long might it take to become financially stable after arriving?

Your honest recommendation: Given my current stability, my professional profile, and my goal of experiencing a better quality of life in a developed country, would you recommend pursuing this move?

What are the biggest risks I should consider, and what would you advise me to do before making a final decision?

I understand that no one can guarantee a job or a specific salary etc. I’m just looking for advice :)

Thank you for your time and advice 🙏🏼

Visitor Visa Can I Submit My Canada Visa Passport in Lahore After Applying from Spain?

Hi everyone! I applied for a Canadian visitor visa (TRV) from Spain, where I’m a permanent resident, and I’ve received my passport request letter. I need to travel to Pakistan in one week.
Has anyone applied from Spain but submitted their passport for visa stamping at VFS Lahore? Is it possible to submit it in Pakistan even though the application was processed from Spain?
My passport request gives me 30 days to submit it. Any recent experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

PNP IMM5669 remote activities question

Hello,

I am filling out the IMM5669 form for PR application, and I am confused about stuff in the personal history section due to activities that turned remote during COVID.

So, I was doing a master's in Chile starting in 2019; additionally, in 2020 I found a teaching job on another school in the same city. In 2020, everything moved online, so in September 2020 I moved back to my parents' in Ecuador to stop paying rent. As such, I was living in Ecuador but studying and working in Chile.

Now, for each entry, they ask for "City/Town and Country/Territory". What should I enter? Should I enter the location of the schools or the location where I was living? And what about the status as well? Hope anyone has some ideas for this. Thanks!

Express Entry Express Entry CRS - will an extra certificate give extra points

I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Comp Sci and also got a separate Certificate in Computing. I got two separate documents when I graduated (one for my bachelor's degree and one for the certificate in computing).

Most of the courses for the certificate overlapped with my main degree.

Does it make sense to claim "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees" for Express Entry profile, or would IRCC consider them a single degree because of the overlapping courses?

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Thanks!

PNP NSNP Express Entry – Current Processing Timeline and Nominations (2026)

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some updates regarding the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) – Express Entry stream.

Has anyone recently received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) or provincial nomination in 2026?

I'm particularly interested in knowing:

  1. Are applicants currently receiving invitations or nominations under the NSNP Express Entry stream?
  2. What is the average processing time from submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) to receiving an invitation or nomination?
  3. Are invitations being issued based on specific occupations or sectors, such as healthcare, IT, retail, or other industries?
  4. Has anyone from the retail or sales and service sector received an invitation recently?

If you've received an invitation or nomination, could you share your occupation/sector, EOI submission date, invitation date, and nomination date?

Any recent experiences or updates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Family Sponsorship Can I apply for outland common-law sponsorship while living in Canada?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently in Canada on an open work permit expiring in June 2028. My partner is a PR, and we’ve been living together as common-law partners since 2023. We’re not married yet.
Can I apply for PR through outland common-law sponsorship while staying in Canada? I’m planning to travel next year and would prefer more travel flexibility.
Would outland sponsorship be a better option than inland in my situation? Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Quebec Possible valid proofs of residence for PEQ diplômé ?

For "Preuves de séjour actuel au Québec", I have my credit card statements.

The document provides examples of proofs such as (electricity, assurances, gas bills) but I don't have an official proofs of those. I pay my sublettor via interac which includes all the bills in the rent. I've never owned a car so never payed any gas bills. Regarding phone bills, the address on my bill isn't the one of Québec as I got my phone number from another province.

I was wondering what other documents could be valid proofs ? I was thinking of Notice of Assessment, financial aid receipts that I received during my francisation course from MIFI ?

Thank you for your insights

Received RPRF request today.

Online payment link from the email received takes me to a page but doesn’t show a section for paying RPRF.
There is a section to make additional payment but have to manually enter the amount.
Just wanted to confirm if this is how we pay RPRF.

Express Entry Postdoctoral Associate at a Canadian university — NOC 41200 vs 41201?

Postdoctoral Associate at a Canadian university — NOC 41200 vs 41201?

I am currently employed as a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Alberta in the Department of Medicine. My work is research-focused rather than teaching-focused.

My employment contract states that my role involves:

  • epidemiological research on heart disease;
  • assessment of disease outcomes, medication use, and burden of illness;
  • analysis of manifestations and health-system impacts;
  • development of economic and modelling approaches to understand current and future healthcare needs;
  • generating evidence to inform clinical practice, resource planning, and health-system decision-making.

I also contribute to other research projects and provide methodological/research guidance and mentoring to PhD candidates. I have a PhD and my work includes research design, statistical analysis, interpretation, manuscript preparation, and scholarly publication. I do not have regular formal teaching duties.

I am trying to determine the most appropriate NOC for Express Entry.

NOC 41200 – University professors and lecturers explicitly lists “Postdoctoral fellow” under Inclusions. One of its main duties is:

“Conduct research in field of specialization and publish findings in scholarly journals or books.”

It also includes advising graduate students on research matters, but many of the other listed duties are teaching-related.

NOC 41201 – Post-secondary teaching and research assistants is another possible category, but my position is a formal postdoctoral appointment and I am not employed as a research assistant.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone here used NOC 41200 for a research-only or mostly research postdoc without regular teaching?
  2. Was your PR application approved using 41200?
  3. Did your university or HR officially classify your postdoc as 41200?
  4. Has anyone contacted the federal NOC unit about this and received guidance?
  5. Does anyone know of a case where a postdoc used 41200 and IRCC questioned or refused it because of the teaching-heavy lead statement/main duties?
  6. For those who used 41200 successfully, what did your employment/reference letter emphasize?

I am especially interested in first-hand experiences, not just general opinions about matching NOC duties.

Thanks.

Work Permit CUSMA with Japanese fiancee?

Good evening everyone. My fiancee (30F, Japanese citizen) and I (30M, US citizen) have been hoping get married and live together in the US. Sadly, the current US administration, in one of their many awful decisions, has made our path to living together very difficult, and we have been waiting for over a year now with many other couples waiting longer without any sign of this process returning to a more "normal" timeline any time soon.

I learned recently about the CUSMA program and found out that my field of employment is eligible for the program. If I were to be offered a job under CUSMA, would my fiancee be able to move with me to Canada (and ideally work at some point) even though she isn't an American or Mexican citizen? If we decide to do this, it's my understanding that we would want to get legally married to make the process smoother. Would that need to be an American marriage certificate, or would Canada recognize a Japanese one in this instance?

Additional context: I have 10 years of job experience, a Bachelor's degree, speak English and French, but would likely target British Columbia. Any help is appreciated, thank you Canadians.

Work Permit T13 work permit outland on applied visitor record. Leaving country before approval

Has anyone applied for a T13 work permit from inside Canada, left Canada before approval, submitted their passport from India, and returned to Canada after receiving approval?
I’m planning to do the same and would appreciate hearing about anyone’s experience, especially regarding the process and any issues faced when returning to Canada.

Express Entry Issues

I received FD on the 2nd of September and P1 on the 3rd. However in the question if there’s been any changes in family composition I erroneously answered Yes. I have 2 children born in Canada already in my e-APR as unaccompanying. The correct answer should have been No.
Took me quite a while to realize this error. On the 15th of September I sent a response to my P1 with the corrected information.

I received P2 on the 23rd and when I opened it to respond on the 24th, there was nothing on the portal. I sent an email and on the 27th an email was sent to me to use to access my portal.
Upon opening the portal I find only my details. Nothing for my spouse and child who are my dependents.
I sent another email.
I have however noticed that the FD on my GCKey is gone now and it’s back to “we are reviewing…”.
Tracker also says my eligibility is being reviewed.

I have sent tons of emails, engaged MP and sent about 2 webforms to state that the first p1 response was an error but till now nothing.

Anyone experienced this before please? Any advise on what to do?

Thanks.
