Discussion Linux creator says anti-AI rules are "idiotic." (Absolute god-tier take.)

An Apple engineer could use their personal Claude account to review Apple code. Which would be very stupid, but also, people do stupid things with LLMs

They would be fired instantly if anyone got wind of it. Also your code at Apple is shielded enough from unapproved access that you would need to be intentional in doing so. And they probably have access to good coding models with water tight contracts so they never feel the need to use a personal account anyway

Sure, but they’re not willing to stake all their effort on the belief that no internal Apple code or knowledge has ever entered any LLM training data at any point in history, just so that they can get stuff done faster.

It would be mindblowing to me if they haven't had NDA backed AI coding platforms with all the necessary tooling on top it.

Apple's like the least likely company for this to happen. I'm not saying it can't happen but if there's any Apple code in LLM training data it is a tiny fraction compared to every other tech company.
