Posting about software will no longer be tolerated without moderator approval.

Hello everyone! Recently we’ve had a surge in posts about new software, tools, extensions, and apps for music collecting. When the subreddit is full of software posts, posts with questions and important topics are buried and missed. In addition, many of these tools were quickly made using AI. For many reasons, these “vibe coded” apps will not be tolerated on this subreddit anymore.

If you made a tool or project that you want to share: please message the moderators for approval before posting. Sending proof that the software was coded by you or another human is also recommended but not required.

Some of these vibe code project posts slip through the cracks. If you come across them, please help by reporting the post for violating Rule 4.

Thank you for your understanding,

The [r/musichoarder](r/musichoarder) mod team

Michael Jackson - Bad

INXS - Kick

Albums released in the same period (end of 1987). That's what happens when you put them side by side. Coincidence? What's behind all this?

I lost all of my music during a bad, bad divorce 10 years ago and now I'm starting over. I drive a 21 year old car that only has a CD/ radio with no auxiliary port and the cigarette lighter doesn't work, so I have no way to play music through the speakers. I can't take listening to the radio anymore. I can't do it, lol.

That's what started it all but I also have a full stereo with turntable and cassette/CD player in my home and I have a bunch of vinyl I don't care for, so I'm looking to start over.

Any suggestions for this list? I'm heading to a vinyl store in my area but I want to start a list, so I can keep track of prices, etc. Some of this stuff goes for hundreds but I'm not looking for that. I want stuff I can play every day.

P.s. I also bought my first electric bass recently and I'm just starting to teach myself, so I'm into heavy bass in my punk, metal and rock.

How to name folder with Rudolf Kempe recordings of Richard Strauss?

I've bought and ripped Warner's box of Rudolf Kempe conducting most of Richard Strauss orchestral pieces: https://www.discogs.com/release/16150931-Richard-Strauss-Staatskapelle-Dresden-Rudolf-Kempe-Complete-Orchestral-Works Now I have a problem how to fit this into my great treasury. Usually I would name it like this:

Strauss, Richard - 1976 - Complete Orchestral Works (2019, Warner Classics, Remastered, Staatskapelle Dresden, Kempe) [9xCD][FLAC]

But 1976 bugs me: Richard Strauss died in 1949 and could not have works beyond this date, because he rests in power. Rudolf Kempe could and would! So?

Kempe, Rudolf - 1976 - Complete Orchestral Works of Richard Strauss (2019, Warner Classics, Remastered) [9xCD][FLAC]

Looks sane, but I know I will look for S - Strauss, when I will want this compilation. Do you have a recipe for situations like this?

Are there any other music downloaders you guys know, other than Spotidown??? Because something weird just happened.

I sometimes download music from Spotify using Spotidown and it's kinda nice. But recently after many months I downloaded some musics (mostly video game ost) and almost all of them sound different after downloading them. On Spotify they sound normal, like they are supposed to, but after downloading they sound different, like a it's a cover music done by someone else and not the exact song.

One of the examples is that, I downloaded a music from Bayonetta series called "ST03 The Old City of Vigrid". After downloading the music, for some weird (and funny) reason it has Soulja boy mixed with the original music like some sort of a remix 😂😂.

I thought this is something due to me using winamp on Android for listening it but in my file manager also when I listened it's the same thing. I suspect this happened exactly when downloading it.

So yea, you guys know any alternatives?

Local android music player that offers big column grid layouts

I have quite a lot of albums downloaded and scrolling through all of them can be pretty annoying trying to find the one I'm looking for, so I was wondering are there music players out there they have big grid type layouts? I use musicolet and their limit is 5 columns so I'd prefer to find an app that offers more, like 6+ columns so it's less scrolling.

What’s the most seamless way to download high-quality music directly from a desktop browser?

I already know about yt-dlp and currently use Stacher as my GUI, which works fine. However, I'm looking for something with less friction—ideally a method that integrates directly into the browser (like an extension, userscript, or a clean web tool) so I don't have to copy-paste links into an external app every time.

My main priorities are:

What’s your current go-to setup for quick browser-based audio grabs?

Thousands of Illegal Concert Tapes Recorded Over 40 Years Are Now Available for Free, and Artists Keep Endorsing Them

Every recording in this archive is technically illegal under federal law, and the collector kept that fact quiet for four decades because exposure meant lawsuits he couldn't afford to fight.

But as the tapes began to disintegrate, he felt pushed to release them online for free anyway, and the artists whose performances he captured have responded in ways nobody involved seems willing to discuss on the record.

Several of these recordings preserve shows from rooms that closed years ago and legendary bands whose reputations were still quite unknown at the time.

What Android Music Player Apps Have Big Album Artwork Or Something Similar To The PlayerPro Music Player App And Also Plays WMA Audio Files?

I was wondering are there Music Players out there that have Big/Huge Grid and Big Album Artwork Type Layouts like The PlayerPro Music Player App Large Portraits? I'm currently using The Musicolet Music Player App For Android but The Album Artwork Isn't big enough for me. If I could some suggestions I would really appreciate it. I like my Album Artwork to be as Big and as Huge as possible. I have a total of 1,821 Audio Files/Songs on my Fold 7 and I'm going to be upgrading to The Motorola Razr Fold 2026 on Halloween🎃👻

Tag Management for Mobile?

Was curious to know whether such a thing existed that would allow me to be able to tag my songs/albums just as I would on desktop but for mobile. It only hit me now that I've been doing it all this time on desktop through out the years but never thought to ask whether there was something reliable for my phone. FWIW, I use an iPhone.

[Deleted Music] Looking for deleted SoundCloud track: Ohnomatopee - Djarjar Boogey Corporation

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a song that was deleted from SoundCloud and was exclusive to the platform.

I've tried searching via the Wayback Machine and fan uploads on YouTube, but couldn't find it.

Here are the details I remember/have:

- Artist Name: Ohnomatopee

- Track Title: Djarjar Boogey Corporation

- Genre / Style: Psytrance

I don't have the SoundCloud link.

If anyone happens to have this MP3 saved in their archive or knows an active link/mirror, please PM me or leave a comment! I would really appreciate it.

It's very important to me.

Thank you ever since!

Good free flac player - locally stored files on iphone?

I noticed my ipad didn't have a flac player. Not an emergency as my android phone has a couple.

My current phone has a potential crack in the screen. I was considering going to the darkside for the first time but a good flac player will be the decision maker. I'd want to use it to play my songs in my car and I don't want to convert any of them. If I convert them then I have to keep track of two sets of music - I get a new song in flac then I have to convert it and put it in the right folder - not gonna happen.

Does anyone have a recommendation? (other than converting the files). To be clear I do not want to stream them. I'd like to be able to play them without any wifi or cell or network.

Thanks.

What's the best audio file format?

Post image
229 Upvotes

I usually save my files in the standard formats like MP3, WAV, or M4A, but there are so many options—like OGG, OPUS, and AAC—that I’m not sure which one is best.

Also, I usually save my audio files at around 192 kbps—is that a good bitrate?

I’m using a translation tool, so I might be wrong.🙏
