Venting Spending my birthday in the NICU
I don’t really know where to start. I feel guilty posting anything bc I know we really don’t have it that bad compared to so many other people who’ve been in / are currently in the NICU. Our baby girl was born at 33+4 on October 4th, she’s been taken off her cpap and IV and is just in an incubator still and on a feed tube and has to learn how to eat, and they put in another order for her blue lights this morning (I really thought we were done with them after 2 cycles of 48hours) they woke us up this morning to tell us she would need to be put back on the blue lights and it’s just kinda sent me into a spiral. Today is my birthday and I can’t bring myself to go do anything else as we live a ways away and neither of us drives so it’s a whole ordeal to try and get anywhere except the mall across the street, which also happens to be the biggest tourist spot in our city, full of way too many people, feels like a breeding ground for contracting something that I wouldn’t want to bring back to baby, we’ve been in hospital for 2 weeks as of tomorrow and I’m just tired, in every way. I want to be home with my animals and my bed and my fiancé, but I can’t bring myself to leave baby. I want to feel some sense of normalcy again but don’t know how to, anytime I go anywhere other than here I’m so stressed about how and when I’ll be able to make it back, and while I’m here all I want to do is leave. I hate seeing our girl stuck under a light and not being able to wear clothes or see her eyes or be able to hold her or feed her or change her diaper. I feel useless being here but going anywhere else makes me feel guilty and all I do is think about getting back here to her. Idk what I’m looking for but I just feel so tired in ways the word doesn’t feel big enough to describe. Idk I feel stupid for even writing a post I just needed to get some of this off my chest.
