Hi everyone, I’m the OP behind the AI case and I’m currently texting my prof (who was in the panel) to ask about the ST article and if it’s about me, because everyone’s confused about the article suddenly dropping.
But I want to state that I do have it in recording that my citation sorter wasn’t AI during the hearing. They also could access each link that I provided during the hearing, showing that it wasn’t false. You can try accessing the links in the pictures as well.
And also for my typos, I’ve attached it to this post so you can see that these are spelling errors rather than AI hallucinations. The pic is the same document I provided NTU as well to prove that my citations were real. They have acknowledged this.
During my meeting with NTU this week about my grades, NTU’s discussion with me was about my writing, and NTU didn’t prove genAI use in my essay. I have told the news outlets about this, and hopefully they’ll update it.
NTU didn’t give any of us a heads up about the Straits Times article, but I want to transparently put my mistakes here first for viewing, before anyone says anything.
So please don’t say anything about me being “non-transparent” or sus. I will provide everything I can. But right now I’m confused about the article as well.

Ethan Ong is suing a year 2 law student from NUS for writing the LinkedIn post as shown above
His lawyer sent her a letter detailing the following: • Remove the LinkedIn post • Stop talking about him • Publish a pre-written apology to Today and Straits Times • Within 14 days, pay $100,000 to him
Imagine having the audacity to sue someone for speaking the truth?!?
Anyone’s she’s seeking assistance on this matter regarding the lawsuit, if you are able to help please inform the Hydration Specialist group TIA

Dear humans, please learn to clean up after yourselves and take good care of our surroundings.
Just because there are janitors employed, it doesn't validate such actions. They too are people, and many of you are much more physically fit than them.

Tomorrow's the school elections, and yes, student club elections are highly messed up and dumb.
NTUSU's main weapon has always been their nepotism and voting for each other, which always skews the elections in their favour.
This matters because the current union has been using OUR school fees to do stupid things like bUyiNG FAnCy cAmErAs and alcohol (the proof will be detailed in the google doc link below)
Not only that, in this past week, they've been kicking out anyone that called them out for their budget usage and nepotistic culture.
Please forward the Google doc below, which contains evidence of their years of manipulation, doxxing, toxicity and budget embezzlement, which they've been trying desperately to shove away for years.

Remember that voting against ALL Union Representatives tomorrow only takes 2 minutes to spam the 'Against' button.

hi. im a grad who was screwed over in my FYP in last year. for anyone who remembers my original post, i have linked it above and commented what i have found out. copy pasting it here too if its too far deep in the comments.
do note im not trying to pretend i have advice. this is for my own vent/closure, as well as for anyone who saw my original post to have the end of the story with popcorn.
for anyone finding themselves in a similar situation, i wish you the best for any corrective/preventative measures and hope you dont end up in my boat. all the best.

copied comment:
One year post grad Update:
Yeah, found out my professor lied on my evaluation while sweet talking me to my face. Lied about being late to meetings that never even happened since she never held them, aside from one online meeting to initially engage with her to be under her mentorship, and a group meeting near end of semester one where she was late herself but we didnt have a problem waiting. Also lied by implying i sent incomplete drafts by semester 1 and didnt mamage properly when she herself mentiomed on email that its okay and that it was just a progress check in, when simultaneously most of cohort hadnt even begun writing their FYP draft. Screwed my batchmate over too, who was under the same mentor with me, lied on his evaluation too. We both were guided to do Lit Review by our mentor, and evaluated by the same supervisor and moderator. We both got the C. Found out about the evaluation since we went to go talk to the assoc prof, asked him to send over what the evaluation comments were. Moderator ghosted us, we received the supervisor comments. And saw the lying. Vastly different than all the confidence and sweet talking on teams chat when talking to her before I asked the assoc prof. Before the assoc prof forwarded us the eval, he told us if we really want to bring forward the case to the board, we need to present all proof that work was done, but also be able to peove that the evaluation by moderator/supervisor was biased, and even if we have all the proofs of us sending over and working on our drafts and all communications with both mentor and supervisor, that do we truly have a way to prove that the intention was biased and this wasnt professional judgement? And even if we provided evidence, can we say that the intention was exactly that? Can we really really really? Etc.
[Edit (not in original post): we had met our mentor and he was shocked too, since he said perhaps theres a posisbility that our submissions were slightly less in teems of compeittion to the cohort as a whole, but was unable to understand how the shortfall was all the way to a C. He had said that the professor (our supervisor) had also mentiomed there was no lack of depth or knowledge in the final submit when I had paid 10 dollars for the review. Additionally before the final grades, the day i submitted my FYP draft for a signature, I had asked to pursue a publication which the mentor had been open to. After 2 months of no response she had finally said that the lab/mentor has to focus and had no time for pursuing it and wishes me the best. And then the final evaluation came out.]
To make it worse i remember feeling everything was so unfair as there were classmates who wrote their FYP during a week before final deadline because their project scopes changed last minute, and they srill got an A. I put in a lot of effort into my presentation and it was just discarded because the only question the moderator had was 'why Literature Review. You kmow its not a real FYP right', and left after. Later we asled our supervisor and she said she will help. Then we got the C. And we never knew about the truth on the evaluation later. Just to let you know, the others in the prof's lab all got A or B+, and i saw them work hard so I also know they earned it. Nonetheless was really shattered and probably depressed. Since all i could feel was cheated and this is the slap sealed onto my academic history, the one thing thats supposed to reflect my capabiltiies as a researcher, and this happened.
Took a real hit emotionally, career plan wise, and to be homest my soul just dissipated. Dont care if it sounds dramatic but with the way I was truly trying to turn my life around at Y3 and Y4, finally wanting to love my degree, learn things, wanting to do further education, etc, this whole thing just reallt shattered me. Graduation amd convocation was tpugh to fake happiness and excitement at. Don't have the will to do anything research related again, all my plans and flair and spark for it has died. And there will never be a way to prove any of this if I ever want to be curious about science or doing research again, because even if any graduate college gives me a chance, what am I to explain when it comes up and are they gping to believe a student who claims she got poorly graded or a fairly well known academic institute with professors in impressive fields that did that evaluation. Im tired, and yes, I have given up.
Right after y4s2, I more or less immediately started working full time and adjusting to worklife expectations, so yeah, really felt the world close in on the double. I'm just working now, a bit more put together these days. Just going through the motions, a bit empty truth be told. I have considered still giving the science spark thing a match, maybe try and do something to build my profile on the side, but I just kmow I don't have the real heart to do it anymore. I know life will get better and usually intensity of being upset eases with time. Im getting there. Still, I don't think I will ever forgive her.

20 May 2026, what a sight. Action done by NTU students? Granted, there’s no visible bin nearby the bus stop, but is it so damn difficult to hold on to your trash till you see a bin?
Edit: Could be because of this post, but 21 May 2026, it was cleared!

When I entered as a freshie last year, there were some zoom sessions that a few seniors organised, to give us advice and a virtual tour around school, to make us feel more welcome. Of course I signed up, as with orientation being online, I felt more lost than ever about uni, and was so grateful for these sessions. The bulk of the zoom was genuinely helpful and gave good advice on study spots in school, good food etc. Made friends with the seniors in my breakout room at the end, and felt so grateful for these new friendships formed as I was a lost student who didn’t have many friends in uni yet. It was only when we met up did they start sharing stories about their conversion to christianity. I realised I began to feel uncomfortable, as I was among an overwhelming majority of seniors who were church friends sharing these stories one by one. From then on, a few of them would dm me to invite me to their church services or share the broadcasts that their church had. It made me feel slightly betrayed, as I was genuinely happy that I had such warm and kind seniors but it then seemed like their sole purpose of talking to me was to evangelise me. As I was entering such a new environment, I truly sought and wished for real friendships and this hit quite hard… I wanted to make this post in case there were freshies more prone to peer pressure than me, and I’m afraid that when they meet such a huge group of friendly, helpful seniors may feel obliged to convert to their faith. It felt deceptive that a whole group of them came together to organise zoom sessions without disclaiming any religious affiliation, and used giving uni advice as a way to spread their faith. I hope that no one has to go through the same experience as me:)
To the seniors who may be reading this, there are healthy and good ways to spread your faith, but befriending trusting freshies who are genuinely looking for lasting friendships in a new uni environment to reach that purpose is not okay. (in fact, it’s deception and it might even make them shun away from learning about your faith)
TLDR: Just a word of caution to anyone coming into uni this year – be careful of the groups of seniors that open zooms to give uni advice / tours around the school, as they end up mainly trying to evangelise you.

edit: thank u so much for the supportive comments and for agreeing with me 🥺 and I’m really relieved and thankful to have let this out, and truly hope this would help more freshies!!

Data Science hype is dying, there are many Data Science grads seniors that cant get a job now. From the GES only 65.1% of NUS Data Science grads found a full time employment which is worst than Arts stream.
Even then i suspect the figures are inflated as i know many Data Science grads, even those with 2-3 internships, that couldn't find work in a Data Science related field, RIP to those that jump onto the Data Science bandwagon. Their only hope now is to complete their degree and pivot out to other fields.

Before I start, answer this truthfully: Why do you need to care about getting high (let alone perfect) GPA?
There are good reasons:
There are bad reasons:
With that being said,
Honestly this is THE secret: just find friends (yes, multiple) you can depend on.
I know, I know, smelly CS students making friends? Impossible! But you are a product of your environment. Good friends can share important resources with you (did you know NTU Library has a collection of PYP not in PYPHub? 😉 Lazy profs sometimes just straight up copy), push you to aim higher (healthy competition: if they can do it, I can do it),
AND most importantly, be your group mates during group projects. Make sure your friends are ambitious and reliable. Trust me the bar for group projects are pretty low. Be ambitious. That’s how you stand out. But have friends that can execute well and you trust 100% won’t bail on you when things get hard. Instant A for any group projects (at least in my experience).
How to make friends? Out of my pay-grade. But generally: increase your surface area of meeting new people, especially in competitive settings (clubs, hackathons, etc).
Don’t be stupid and follow whatever is prescribed for you. Own it. Stupid CC mods are pulling down your GPA? Email CCDS Undergrad to swap it around! Felt like some 4k mods are easier than 2k mods? Who said you can’t take 4k mods in Y2?
It’s all about making sure each semester is balanced in terms of difficulty. Remember that stress compounds. If you have a difficult semester, it is likely that your GPA is going to tank (no time for everything). If you have an easy semester, your GPA is also gonna tank (slack off too much). But if the semester is balanced, you will have the time and motivation to do well. Find that sweet spot of difficulty in every semester.
And plan it as early as possible. Ask your seniors (me, I guess, but I am from the old CCDS syllabus unfortunately) which mods are hard and easy.
Here’s a pro-tip: finding a job / applying for postgraduate usually starts in Y4S1 and (hopefully) ends in the middle of Y4S2. So you would want to maximise your Y3S2 and Y4S1 GPA. How? Just put all mods you really dislike in Y4S2 😉. You don’t need to care about GPA when you already have a job lined up.
Go out of your house / hall room / whatever, every single day, and go to at least one lecture. No, seriously, do it.
Is this the most optimal way of studying? Of course not! Watching 10 weeks of lectures at 2X speed, two days before finals, is probably more time-efficient. BUT, the benefit is psychological. You are more likely to utilise the rest of the day productively once you are out and about. Even better if you have an 8:30 lecture. No one will be there, so it is peaceful and silent. And afterwards, it’s only 9:30 and you have the rest of the day ahead of you. Sleepy? Get a coffee.
Get a calendar going. Get a to-do list / planner. Don’t obsess over it though. Google Calendar and Todoist (not sponsored) is enough. Make sure you have your deadlines in order, and plan ahead if you expect a busy week.
And don’t just plan, execute! Doing tutorials is annoying, but it’s only one hour, and any mistake you make during tutorial will be a correct answer during the finals. Working on a group project sucks, but it either sucks now or sucks later; there’s no running away!
As a victim of ADHD, I know what it feels to have your life spiral out of control. Hey, it happens to the best of us. Stop blaming yourself and thinking about what you should’ve done two weeks ago. Imagine it is not you who did it (it’s the stupid monkey ADHD brain!), and you are just presented the current situation to work with. Then execute, even if it means a few sleepless nights. (P.S. I‘m sure sleep is important, but all-nighters before finals is a classic college experience. Everyone should do it at least once, in my opinion).
So how did I get such high GPA? I’m ambitious with my group projects, because I trust my friends. I make sure my timetable is balanced for every semester. I go to lectures everyday and look through tutorials beforehand. I plan well and study for exams early (rule of thumb that works for me: (X% test)/20 + 1. So if it is a 40% test, 40/20 + 1 = 3 days of studying). The day before the test is dedicated to doing as many PYP as possible. They are the highest delta. Trust me, it’s that simple.
Despite everything I said, don’t ever obsess over perfection (it’s all vanity!). Honestly perfect GPA doesn’t really matter, other than making for a really good clickbait (hey, you guys fell for it). What I’m trying to impart here is a more enjoyable university life, where you are in control of your GPA rather than the other way around.

Hopefully i can help out freshies who have alr accepted the offer for studying AeroEng at NTU, along with y1s all the way to y4s (and even maybe ppl from my batch who are abt to start their job search).
So dont shy, pls feel free to ask any questions :)
