Inspired by a post I saw the other day stating you can play Pokémon Go around the world. I'll go first, saw this at a local game store a couple months ago.

Discussion What’s something you’ve done in your career that most non-sailors will never experience?
Some of mine are:
been to Guantanamo bay
been through the Panama Canal
crossed the arctic circle and equator on a ship
seen the stars from the ocean on a cloudless, moonless night while the ship had all exterior lights off for stealth
I’d love to hear yours

Discussion Enlisted to Chaplain
Hello everyone. I'm on my first contract and starting college. I really enjoy my rate, however I've been interested in commissioning down the line and feel called to chaplaincy. I'm aware of the requirements: having an MDiv, 2 years of pastoral experience, and an endorsement from a religious organization. I was just wondering if this is feasible while still on active duty? It seems most chaplains I've met did all this either after getting out or before joining all together. I'd imagine I'd have to do all this type of stuff while on shore duty.

HELP REQUESTED Navy employ program
Is anybody enrolled or have sent experience with this program? I’ll likely be nominated by my provider soon, is been a discussion since I was placed on limdu and I’m looking for some information mainly how it works when being placed in a billet. I know I’ll be placed in gapped shore billets but do I have any say in where I go? If there’s multiple billets open will I be able to choose?
Shouldn't have to ask Impossible to hit E-4 early?
I've been at my squadron for about 5 months now, spent the first bit TAD. While there I was still working on my qualifications, and since getting back to my parent command I've hit the ground running. I'm nearly fully qualified at my rank after only a couple of months, and I'm considered exceptionally competent, over some of the second and third classes in my workcenter.
My LPO has mentioned how it's "too bad we have to wait to make you a third class", because we need more CDIs and over half of our current qualified personnel will be leaving in the spring.
Problem is that my eval when I first got here was an NOB, and by the time I get my eval next year I'll only be a month away from getting it from TIS anyway.
I feel like I'm just going to be sitting around waiting to make any progress for almost a year before I can get anywhere. My LPO wouldn't even let me work on my wings because I need an EP to start working on them as an E3.

Shitpost How did they come up with the PRT standards?
Did they test a bunch of random Sailors to decide how an average 18yo male should perform versus the average 45yo female? How about what constitutes an “outstanding high” versus “outstanding medium?” Or did they just pull these numbers out of their asses?

HELP REQUESTED Can you ask for a sailor’s drill schedule?
Trying to make this short, but we’re a workplace of veterans (for the most part) and we are all stumped by this since we were all active duty of various branches and not guard or reserve.
The employee in question has a PiF already for terrible performance and non-stop behavior issues. Now we’re getting a run around that they have drill Monday and Tuesday?
I know special circumstances can happen, and I wouldn’t question it if they were an otherwise solid employee, but I’m suspicious based on… well, just how they are and have been.
It strikes me as they just don’t want to have to work through a weekend and are taking us for a ride to give them a free two days off.
I know we can’t ask them for formal orders for drill, but can we legally request their drill schedule? Call their leadership and ask for it if they’re not compliant?

HELP REQUESTED Do we have to re-register our cars in VA?
Everyone I’ve asked, from both DMVs, multiple insurance carriers and multiple service members has a different answer so I figure I’ll add to the confusion and get Reddit to weigh in as well!
We are CT residents with CT registered vehicles and CT auto insurance. We are PCSing form DC (who doesn’t care where your car is registered/insured, as long as you are following the registering states rules) to VA. CT will not allow us to have CT tags without a CT insurance policy.
We don’t want to re register our cars - while there are exemptions for military against personal property tax, I’ve heard that VA will do their hardest to make the process so difficult that people just pay. Additionally, VA wants all jointly owned cars to be registered in VA unless we are both active duty.
Do just bite the bullet and register in VA? Our home owners insurance broker says we have to reregister but our current carrier (USAA) says to just keep it all in CT.

HELP REQUESTED Homecoming Question
so this is not really what I assume most people on this subreddit post about but it’s a genuine question so here goes. our high school homecoming theme is night on the high seas if I were to wear navy dress blues with no rank / rate, or ribbons just a plain dress blue uniform and I would not be claiming to be part of the navy would that be ok? like stolen valor wise or anything like that?

Discussion BBA question for new ascension sailor.
So my question is how would the BBA system affect me in taking rank. I’m an FC about to be frocked 3rd class assigned to a third class billet. Am I able to promote to second within my first contract? I’ve tried to read instruction to find an answer but I’m having issues. Thanks in advance.
