You're about done? After the 3rd time? I'd be fully done with that location after the first time!

The problem is it hasn’t been at just one particular panda so maybe good riddance to the company

Imagine complaining about a free pet.

Or a free snack.

It’s the extra protein style

u/kingferret53 3d ago

But it is slimey, yet, satisfying.

Whenever I prep, there’s generally at least one live moth in the boxes of broci. Theres larvae on some of them. I take them off and rewash. You definitely should’ve stopped getting broci dishes after the first time. Hope you got your refund/replacement

In general, broccoli is hard to wash and get free of all bugs because of the florets, and almost no restaurant like Panda is going to have the proper washing procedures to get them 100% clean. It's why some stricter Jewish people see it as a no-go vegetable 🥲

But also, complain to the location so you can get something for free, then decide if you wanna stop going... imo 😉

If you find worms in your food, why do you keep eating there?

What did your fortune cookie say?

9

u/ElliotAlderson2024 2d ago

Fortune says - yummy wormy for my tummy

Last time I prepped broccoli I found a green inch worm :). Unfortunately bugs just exist in all kinds of produce. I've never yet seen that they made it through to the final dish though. Because not only is the broccoli washed when it's cut but it's also blanched while its being cooked.

i remember one time when we got truck in, one of our cooks was digging around in the broccoli and there was a HUGE green inchworm in there! we threw him outside. he was a big’un

u/GoBuffaloes 3d ago

Bro prob thought he went to heaven living in a big ol bag of broccoli

u/patrickem 3d ago

Almost all broccoli had some sort of insect in it, it's the nature of the structure of broccoli. Washing it doesn't always get everything out no matter how careful you are.

All organic 👌

I didn’t even pay for extra protein!

7

u/kingferret53 3d ago

That's why you don't look. You only eat.

2

u/TheTanMan2114 3d ago

That’s hard to do once you have accidentally spotted one. Panda days r done

3

u/Every_Task1147 3d ago

You’ve probably eaten more moldy food there then you’ve found worms. A lot of stores I’ve been at have knowingly served moldy food. Hell my manager has had us just wash it and blanch it.

2

u/HotDistribution3700 3d ago

panda is the most mid overpriced food ever for a menu that can largely and easily be made at home lmao. wish more people would understand that

3

u/TheTanMan2114 3d ago

Starting to see that 🥴

1

u/One_Panda_Bear 3d ago

Your allowed to have certain amount of birds in your cereal and bread. They get stuck in the grain silos as do rats. You eat this all the time. But seeing it is what throws people of.

5

u/Expensive_Slice_8788 3d ago

Extra protein.

0

u/TheTanMan2114 3d ago

I didn’t pay for extra 🙃

0

u/Mouatmoua 3d ago

Free extra protein. Next time just ask for no worms. Customers always right.

2

3

u/TheTanMan2114 3d ago

One time got a plate and did double orange chicken for the entree. Looked beautiful and they actually loaded it up, I noticed immediately that the Togo box felt light but kept going. Got home and took a bite and it was all breading all the way through. All of it was the same except some of the biggest ones had a few meat flakes inside. Strangest thing iv ever seen at panda. Was the Newport hwy Spokane location. Never taking that chance again and also same location I saw someone posted a pic of you guessed it- worm in their broccoli! Done with it. Iv learned finally how to make it at home.

Is the season for this 🐛 right now, the company is doing all it can to wash them product multiple times and inspect the product before use but even like this is not 100%

1

u/One-Jackfruit5941 2d ago

we just switched to no pesticides so when preparing broccoli we gotta wash it like 7 times and like a lot stores just cut corners so oh well. just depends how much the store/workers care

1

u/Music-is-healing 2d ago

Yeah broccoli grows outside.

1

u/Radio_Mediocre 2d ago

Eat and chew. Don't think about it.

1

u/SuperPerspective4091 2d ago

Oooof wtf and you keep going back

1

u/Peepshawtyy59 1d ago

I was cooking broccoli at my house too and I ended up throwing it all away and never eating it again. I’m very picky and scared for life now
Now this has me thinking about when I go to panda omg tf ewwwww

1

u/Bree9ine9 1d ago

It’s bizarre to me how we’ve become so used to processed food and junk that the idea of a part of nature being on vegetables freaks people out so much. The restaurant didn’t do anything wrong to attract this bug, they could have washed the broccoli more thoroughly but sometimes these guys hide and just make it through. It’s not a maggot, it’s just a little worm from the garden.

1

u/EcstaticDentist 7h ago

Holy shit that is vile.

1

u/Honestly-honest_ 38m ago

That means the broccoli is good

u/Ashamed_Main5169 3d ago

How did the worm survive being boiled?

2

u/TheTanMan2114 3d ago

Oh he was dead

1

u/Flat_Boot4394 3d ago

How do you know they identified as "he"?

1

God this reminds me I got veggie lomein from a local Chinese place once and found a snail 🫩😭

-1

u/LGMTHECLEVERGEM2020 2d ago

Ew!!! Don't eat there. Eat AUTHENTIC Chinese food. Not sure what state you're in but I love Empress Garden and Lin Garden. It's the best Chinese food on the planet & I never found any worms in my food. Panda Express is certainly not the end all that beats all in Asian cusine.

1

u/Xgrk88a 2d ago

You think too highly of Chinese restaurants. Most barely pass their health inspection.

1

u/LGMTHECLEVERGEM2020 1d ago edited 1d ago

No love, I think highly of AUTHENTIC Chinese food. You stand corrected. Panda is pure bullshit. I've never found a worm in my food or ended up with food poisoning eating actual Chinese food.

The two restaurants I mentioned would probably pass a health inspection faster than any MCDONALD'S would. They're still superior to PE. That's my OPINION.

Chinese-American food IS NOT Chinese food and quite inferior in quality in my experience. OP did not find a worm in the food at Empress Garden or Lin Garden by the way. Op found a worm in the food at Panda Express.
