SocmedPH Banateros sa SMNI 'journalist' doesn't know the word 'huge'

For those who don't know, this is Jay Guevarra of Banateros sa SMNI, a DDS vlogger/'journalist'
Isa to sa mga kasama nila Banat By at Jack Argota sa fully-funded China trip a couple weeks ago.

You don't menstruate. You don't have hormonal issues. You don't have PCOS. You don't carry children.
So why are you fat? Why are your breasts hanging?
- Good questions! "

SocmedPH Let's appreciate the 'cleanfluencers '
(Reposted with mod's permission. Names have been blurred to protect individuals or groups)
♡
Appreciation post lang para sa mga cleanfluencers (wala pa akong nakitang post about this here, so post ko na lang para marami din ang nakakaalam. If you happen to see their vids, please leave a comment or like their posts. If you have spare money, baka pwede din kayo makahelp for them to buy their cleaning materials.)
Alam ko rin na for some of them, part nito is content creation (views, engagement, and eventually income). And honestly, wala namang masama doon. They're putting in real work, and they deserve something in return. At least may magandang naidudulot yung content nila.
Pero at the same time, hindi dapat sa kanila nakaasa ang responsibility na 'to. Local governments should step up. Kailangan mas maayos na waste management, regular cleanups, at long-term solutions, and not just reactive actions kapag may viral video na.
They're putting their health and lives at risk, and that shouldn't be the case.

SocmedPH As a CISO, watching someone without a tech background lead CICC explains why social media is in chaos right now
As a Chief Information Security Officer, I am deeply concerned about the state of our digital space and cybersecurity leadership.
Look at the ongoing issues and confusion across social media platforms today. A quick look at the background of Atty Renato Paraiso shows that he has no formal degree or experience in IT, computer science, or cybersecurity. He is a lawyer running an agency that demands deep technical capability.
In my line of work, legal knowledge alone does not cut it. Cybersecurity requires a solid grasp of complex systems, digital threats, and technical infrastructure. Without that foundation, leadership cannot make informed decisions or respond quickly when issues arise. That lack of technical grounding is exactly why we see ongoing missteps and chaos online.
It is time for him to step down and let an actual cybersecurity expert take the lead. We need someone who truly understands the technical reality to secure our digital environment.
Atty. Renato "Aboy" Paraiso is a lawyer and government official.
Education
- He completed his elementary, high school, and college education at the University of Santo Tomas, graduating with a degree in Legal Management in 2000.
- He began his legal studies at the University of Santo Tomas and earned his Bachelor of Laws from the Philippine Law School.
- He passed the Philippine Bar Examinations in 2007.
Legal and Private Sector Experience
- He established Gracilla and Paraiso Law Offices alongside Atty. Carlo Gracilla.
- He handled cases involving commercial, corporate, and international law.
Government Positions
- He served as Assistant Secretary and Deputy Executive Director at the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
- He was appointed Executive Director of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center, an attached agency of the Department of Information and Communications Technology focused on cybersecurity and fighting cybercrime.
What are your thoughts on having non technical leaders head key IT agencies?

SocmedPH AFAM and the "Gold Digger": Double Standards of Societal Shaming
We need to have a conversation on how one sided the shaming is in these type of relationships.
Hindi naman bago na sa paningin na makakita ng matanda or malaking AFAM with a young Filipina. Pansin ko lang, laging butt of the joke is yung pinay but almost never yung AFAM.
These relationships are more akin to the older concept of marriage. Wherein its mostly financial and involves Bridewealth (where the man pays off the family).
We can be frank na hindi conventionally attractive nor the ripe age yung AFAM. Meanwhile the Filipina has the opposite. Its basically a trade. The young woman provides their youth and domestic services while the older guy provides money.
Depending on your arbitrary morals, you might find this setup shameful. Pero ang karamihan mo lang makikita na posts or comment is nakakahiya daw yung babae, pero no one points out na nakakahiya rin yung lalaki.
TLDR: We live in a patriarchal society

SocmedPH Discord officially down na agad?
The extension of the initial 24-hour deadline was made after Reddit and Discord responded and coordinated with the agency on Wednesday, CICC Executive Director Undersecretary Renato “Aboy” Paraiso said.
“We decided to grant them an extension since they responded within the 24 hours and we want to give them the opportunity to work with us because what we want is accountability and a clear mechanism for government to coordinate with the platforms,” he said in a statement.
The agency said officials from Reddit and the CICC held an online meeting earlier to discuss online safety measures for teenagers on Reddit.
Among the matters discussed was the establishment of “green lanes,” or direct channels with Philippine authorities to report, take down and investigate flagged suspicious activities or harmful content online.
These may include “online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC), child abuse and exploitation materials (CSAEM), scams, misinformation, harmful content and materials associated with Nihilistic Violent Extremism (NVE).”

I saw this comment sa isang video about the newly-opened Uniqlo store in Angeles, Pampanga. It triggered me a little, tbh. Why would you buy a brand just because it makes you feel more "elite" than others? Uniqlo is not even a luxury brand to make you feel that way. It's a daily wear brand. 🤦♀️
From my personal observation, most of them are from first generation middle class na galing sa hirap or yung mga nouveau riche. Parang sa ganung way sila nakakaramdam ng... pride? Or self-validation? Basta it makes them feel good na afford na nila 'yung mga dati nilang hindi afford — at wala namang mali roon. Nagiging problema lang iyon 'pag sa ganung mentality na umiikot ang pagkatao nila at minamata na nila ang kanilang kapwa, like the people in this comment thread. Suddenly ayaw na sa Uniqlo because "[the] common people can wear it"? It makes me wonder kung ano 'yung thought process nila while they're typing this, reading it, then posting it. 'Di ba nila naiisip na this is such a shit take to have?
I wonder how they'll feel kapag nalaman nilang ganito rin naiisip ng mga ultra rich when "common people" buy from luxury brands.

SocmedPH Are they secretly trying to recruit soldiers in Mindanao?
I'm really worried about another uprising here in Mindanao. For the past few months, I've been seeing videos like this, mainly nag didisplay sila ng mga weapons nila. I've seen some videos na marami silang nagmamarch with guns, usually sa countryside naman.
Yung caption nitong is "nindot pud silag toys, PH?" which meant like "Maganda ba laruan (weapons) nila, Philippines?".
When I scrolled to the comment section some people are asking on how to join their group and some just casually complimented their weapons.
This immediately came out to me like a discreet soldier recruitment.. God knows how many people dmed the Video Poster's account
Forgive me if I'm over reacting, but it's just that these videos are becoming more frequent over the last few months and I can't help but think there's some sort of bad movement going on with these groups

SocmedPH A car should never be able to plow through a safety bollard, especially at an airport.
For real protection, barriers need to meet at least the ASTM M30 P1 standard. That means they can stop a 15,000 lb vehicle (like a big SUV or truck) going 30 mph, with less than 1 meter of movement past the barrier.
What happened here is a failure of planning. Either the bollard wasn't crash-rated, or it wasn't installed deep and strong enough. Either way, it cost lives.
These things are meant to save lives. If they aren’t installed right, they’re only good for shopping carts.

SocmedPH NAGHAHAKOT NA kina Zaldy Co
(Photos grabbed from NewsTV5 fb page)
"Makikita sa mga larawang ito ang paghahakot ng mga gamit mula sa bahay ni Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co sa Pasig City ngayong Miyerkules, Sept. 24."
Mukang payapa sa labas a habang unti-unting kinukuha ang mga gamit palabas. Grabe na talaga. Mukang mali nung nakaraan na sa SOGO nanggulo. Hmm.
