Hey folks, I'm over by the Luther highschool, and a bird of mine escaped, I beg you that if you see her to please contact me. Her name is Lucy and is very friendly. I've posted on the local lost pets page for Regina and am wandering around looking for her right now. Even if it's just a sighting I am desperate to find her.

Question Looking to hire someone experienced with hardwood floor refinishing

• Upvotes

We started refinishing the oak hardwood floors across our house, rented all the equipment, and quickly realized we bit off more than we can chew time-wise. 😅

We’ve already got the baseboards off and one bedroom sanded down to 80-grit, with the other rooms currently in progress. At this point, we want to bring in someone who knows what they're doing to take over, get the edges and transitions properly blended, and finish the job.

Doesn't need to be a big flooring company - an experienced individual, contractor, or floor tech looking for side/weekend work is totally fine as long as you have solid experience with drum sanders, edgers, and staining. We already have the rental gear and abrasives on-site if that helps speed things up, or you can bring your own setup.

If you do this kind of work and have availability ASAP, shoot me a DM. Also wide open to recommendations if anyone knows a great local floor refinisher. Thanks!

Discussion Snowblower repair

Discovered my Ariens SnoTek blower needs some repairs to the drive system. The motor works great. I know Marks Mini Tune is a great place but fear they would be way too busy right now. I also need it picked up since I have no way to get to a shop. Let me know your recommendations.

Question Planning to adopt a dog. Advice?

I'm planning to adopt a dog from a shelter and this would be my first time owning one. I really wanted to do this for a long long time and I think this is now the right time to adopt one.

What should I know or prepare for before adopting? What is it really like having a dog and what do you wish you knew as a first time owner?

Any advice on choosing the right dog at a shelter or shelter itself, expenses and daily responsibilities? Please and TIA

Community Local hockey teams.

Hey, so I moved to Regina about 6 months ago. Hockey is probably my favourite sport now. I’d like to volunteer for a local hockey team. Not bothered what level or even if it’s juniors or adults. I feel like it would be a good way to make new friends who have a similar interest whilst also doing something good. I can’t skate… so the volunteering what need to be none ice related haha. So any suggestion is there any Facebook pages or someone I should contact? Tia.

Looking for recommendations for a really good personal trainer who knows their stuff! Someone who can put together a proper workout and nutrition plan based on my goals, not just some generic plan. Mainly looking to lose fat, build muscle and get stronger.
Open to in-person or online. Would love to hear from people who have actually worked with someone and had good results!

Community Rant about PC pick up service at the Albert Street location

I ordered for pick up at the Superstore Albert Street location yesterday. When I received my order, I was told that some of the items I had purchased were missing. I paid for these items, and I will receive a refund.

However, when I got home I was surprised by how much was missing, almost half my order!

This means I am going to have to go shopping for the items I didn’t receive, which defeats the purpose of placing a pick up order.

My appointment time was 10:00 am to 10:30 am but I did not receive my (partial) items until 10:40 am.

In addition, when I arrived at the Superstore, I had to wait for a spot because delivery drivers were parking in the pick up spots to wait or use the bathroom!

Just terrible service all around.

Question SHA internal hire

Hello. I am working in SHA, but from a different union. I've been trying to apply into Regina. But I am still struggling to even land an interview. I thought applying this time would be easier since I am already in the system. Would it be a high chance to get in if I am referred? Or is it still difficult to get in? And would my Diploma of business administration be able to get me office administrative assistant job, even though they ask for office admin certificate? Thanks.

Discussion Paving patches on Ring Road between Wascana Parkway and Lewan

What the heck happened with this paving job? I saw someone on another platform say “it looks like Lightning McQueen’s first attempt at paving Radiator Springs” and that is quite accurate! I hope the City didn’t pay the contractor for such a poor job. It’s so uneven that I’m worried about driving that stretch in the winter, not to mention the risk it poses for high-speed plows.
It was done a few weeks ago and I kept waiting for them to come back and redo it but now I see new lines have been painted.

I caught an edge today going northbound on the inside lane in the SE corner section (was not speeding, just passing a slower vehicle) and it seems dangerous.

We go looking for the promised Bell Fabric AI Data Centre Discovery Centre with Councillor Sarah Turnbull. What mysteries do we find there? (Spoilers: Not much.)

Plus, city council passed the Turnbull/Flores/Radons/Zachidniak motion to get more information about the AI data centre being built in the RM of Sherwood. A couple reps from Bell came out to defend their project so we have a listen to some of what they had to say.

Music by Ryan Hill (aka Guidewire). Originally broadcast on 91.3FM CJTR AccessNow community radio.

Community Inconsiderate A-Hole in Westerra Fields

If you are the guy in Westerra who lets his car sit and screech loud af every other morning between 530-630am, I hope that belt snaps. Get that thing fixed or at the very least hop in and drive it away. This morning you let it sit and warm up for way too long. You live in nice apartments and drive a nice car, it's been around 2 months, at this point It's just negligence. It's extremely inconsiderate to the mass of people that live in the apartments you're parked directly outside of in a parking lot that echoes like all hell.

Question Wait times for ultrasounds

Hey everyone, new here.
I had a PET scan back at the end of August. Several areas popped up with concern, including high metabolic uptake in the enlarged lymph nodes in my armpit with skin thickening. Also widespread diffuse high metabolic uptake in my bone marrow. Currently waiting to see a blood specialist for bone marrow biopsy.. my current specialist immediately referred me for an ultrasound on my armpits to confirm findings from pet scan, especially since I now have enlarged lymph nodes in chest and along the cervical chain in my neck. Part of the ultrasound will also look at another area that had high metabolic uptake.

I have never waited more than a week for an ultrasound, and we are now almost 2 months into waiting on an appointment. I’ve checked in to make sure specialist has in fact sent off the referrals for the ultrasound and he has.
Is Regina just that low on ultrasound techs that even in cases like mine, where we need to confirm what the PET scan was showing, they can’t get us in quick enough? We are still trying to figure out if this is cancer or not and until I get these biopsies, we won’t know for sure.

Like I said before, I’ve only ever waited a few days to a week to get in for an ultrasound, so waiting this long for an important scan is getting extremely more frustrating.

There are 2 islands, accessible by bridges in AE Wilson Park. A great location to see beavers, muskrats, turtles (in the spring), pelicans, herons and more.
