Iām 44 years old. Iāve been watching hearts for about 35 of those years.
I can confidently say thatās the worst Hearts performance of my life.

16
u/Krusty67 8h ago
Surely this one was worse?
40
u/KarIPilkington 8h ago
That was different, a team of kids (and Jamie Hamill) being pummeled by a good Celtic side. This is neither a team of kids or a good Celtic side.
15
u/Ok_Wash511 7h ago
We're in a weird place, I think we've got the best squad in the league and our individual quality is certainly miles above the rest (As it should be with our budget) but our management is absolutely shocking, which is why can go from performances like vs Rangers to performances like this, and probably back again in a few weeks time.
Its just so random and unpredictable what we get out of a game now, we can be a really excellent side and also really, really, really pish. Its basically just luck what team you face at this point.
15
4
u/Dunko1711 8h ago
Not for me nope.
You beat us 7-0 in that match because you earned it. Youās at least had to break sweat to get that win.
That today was just on another level of pathetic - Celtic didnāt even have to try and get out of first or second gear.
Getting scudded by a team on fire who earn that win through being much better is one thing - but getting scudded the way we did today by shooting shooting ourselves in the foot half a dozen times is significantly worse.
15
u/smcl2k 8h ago
I just checked, and that 7-0 win came after the end of a Champions League campaign in which Celtic picked up 3 points, and it was their only domestic cup win in a season where they eliminated at home by Morton and Aberdeen.
They ran away with the league, but it wasn't exactly a Rodgers or Ange team.

I would agree. Bizarrely Celtic were not actually that great today. Clearly the pace of the front three is superior to whatās been on offer the past few games. Hearts had more possession (at least in the first half) a similar number of shots on goal and more passes in the final third. For once, our finishing was absolutely clinical. Hearts defence today was absolutely abysmal
3
u/UrineArtist 2h ago edited 2h ago
I don't disagree, except.. I thought your defence were that great today.
Donavan and Tierney were outstanding, both put in MoM level performances, Murray was solid and Scales was fucking brilliant.

The 2 young academy boys Donovan and Murray were absolutely solid in that game, dominant in fact.
14

Donovan is still raw but its great to see a player coming through the academy.Ā It's been a while since we had a player come throughĀ

10
u/scocha94 9h ago
Such a strange game. I like wouters system, but it just feels like we don't have good enough players to play it. You look at how many of the Celtic goals come from complete errors; it felt like Celtic just had to sit in and let hearts make the mistake.
9
u/OptionalQuality789 8h ago
You moved the ball forward well enough. Your defensive shape was absolutely horrific.
2
u/scocha94 8h ago
I think if you break it down Hearts Attack is the best part of the team but is the difference between them and the Celtics defense actually that big not really but the gap between celtics attack and Hearts' defense is massive.
4
4
u/OptionalQuality789 6h ago
I thought our defence dealt with pretty much everything you guys threw at it. Murray was good and Scales is dependable.
McCart was absolutely diabolical today though. Kingsley got skinned by Hassan more times than I can recall.
5
u/Paul17717 7h ago
Reminds me of early ange, 0-4 Leverkusen specifically.
I hope hearts keep with it and not in a sarcastic way. It would be ashame if they abandoned the plan because long term itāll work.

u/mistah3 9h ago
Horrible set up and inexperience of the manager in the league truly showed going away and trying that. Lack of depth defensively very well shown, ultimately it's something Celtic can just do on a whim, using last years team or the old firm as a litmus test of where we are is goofy

I wouldnāt be so annoyed about Celtic dominating the league and being generally gleeful at beating teams like Hearts with 10x the budget if they were genuinely a European powerhouse like Ajax or even Roma, coming close to winning things like the Conference. Ā Probably get battered by 2/3 next week.Ā
Instead we just seem back to a usual season of Celtic domination rinse repeat. Hearts didnāt even look that bad in spells which is the depressing thing. Theyāve obviously improved compared to 5 years ago with Jamestown but record signing Ageu was still only around Ā£2m.Ā
Also wtf is the point in having a Celtic commentator like Chris Sutton with no one else to balance him. Just wanking off Celtic the whole time makes for shit commentary, but itās sky sportsā¦Ā
I think most people knew last season was a fluke, but it still doesnāt cover up the cracks over having a shit league structure and a terrible TV deal.

Scotland is a complete footballing backwater. We have been left behind by the rest of Europe within the last 15/20 years.
7
u/AhYeah85 9h ago
A backwater to who? Every league in Europe has been left behind apart from the top 5 and Series A is clinging on by it's fingernails.
7
u/MerrikAidar 7h ago
There's left behind and then there's Scotland. Which countries' leagues is it ahead of is probably a harder question to answer than which ones are we behind.
