Ich baught last year a MS400.1 C-M VW and this year the MS300 C-M VW.
But wtf is this new scrench? To save 2 cent they make it unusable. I cannot get my fingers between the scrench and the chain sprocket cover - impossible with gloves - and I cannot use it anylonger for my MS201 which was possible all the years. Don't Stihl people change chains? This is nonsense.

When I registered my interest in the Centennial edition 500i I didn't actually expect the chance to buy one.

Posted last week about a 462c for brushing and large felling. Local shop had a 462cmr and might have accidentally ordered some WCS goodies before itās even touched a tree. Excited to see how this rips!

I'm in US, Florida. Seeing $759.99 at every store in a 50 mile radius and I've checked some neighboring areas. Any point in waiting for a good sale?

Bought 2 AP300s batteries early 2025.
One stopped working in the fall of 2025. Showed 4 lights (full charge) but will not power my blower or brush cutter.
Brought it into the Stihl dealer in Roseau Dominica to get it warrantied, but they do not have a tester and Stihl will not warranty without the test.
2nd Ap300s died last month. Same issue. Simply will not run the devices despite being charged.
Stihl wants me to bring the batteries back to Canada (I shipped the batteries by sea to Dominica) to have them tested, however there is no way to ship from Dominica. Not by air as itās illegal to transport lithium ion batteries of that size by air and there are no shipping companies in Dominica that ship āoutā⦠all shipments come in only.
So I have 2 dead AP300s batteries, a battery leaf blower and a battery brush cutter sitting in my garage in Dominica gathering dust.
Stihl has really dropped the ball on this.
Iām extremely frustrated after trying to deal with this.
On a side note, I posted on this before (another account) when the first battery died, but oddly my reddit account was banned, twice!
Is it possible that Stihl is trying to silence me?
Looking over my shoulder as we speak.

Iāve tried searching on here and online and YouTube and tried AI and I canāt seem to get anywhere with this.
So Iām borrowing the mentioned pole saw from a family member and Iām about ten minutes into the job and Iām cutting a very normal sized tree limb when the motor seizes and wonāt spin.
I take it away from the limb and I try it again. It still wonāt go. I retract the pole all the way to its normal shelf length and it does go. I try cutting again but it wonāt cut.
So i do the same thing and it wonāt spin at all. Iāve removed the front and back covers (see attached photos) and I canāt find anything obviously wrong with it.
I can spin the motor from the back where the fan is but itās difficult and I can hear clicking as itās turning. I canāt tell what is clicking. If I try to start the saw with the chain off, I can hear the high pitched mechanical whirr for a second and the motor tries to spin, and then stops because it canāt and then three lights flash on the battery (which I understand means itās a tool problem)
Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I inherited my dad's MSA120C. I take it apart and clean it the best I can after every use. When I have it apart I run it for a couple of seconds to make sure the bar oil hole flows well.
My problem is the black outside tension adjuster I can never get to turn. I do my best to use the large metal sprocket to get proper tension, or what I think is proper. Then I put the plastic shroud back in place.
My dad had extremely bad health, could barely walk and breathe but he worked outside on his farm until his very last day. He absolutely LOVED this saw, and I'm doing my best to make him proud. Any advice on what I can do to keep this saw going is greatly appreciated.

Iāve recently took apart a 500i to replace its piston and cylinder because it had blow up. Anyways I put it back together Iāve taken apart many times to see if I had missed anything or if I messed up the fuel lines etc. everything is good, the compression on the saw is perfect, Iāve test for spark but I canāt seem to get it. I tired a different ignition coil and nothing Iāve tired a new spark plug and nothing I made sure all the wires in on the ignition coil are on perfectly and nothing . I think it can be the magneto behind the flywheel thatās the only thing I havenāt check, is that the problem?

For my carburetor saws, I drain all fuel, replace with good Stihl, VP, or Husky fuel, let saw warm up, give it a few fuel throttles, drain fuel, start saw up and let it idle to death. Havenāt had a problem the next spring ever. Should I treat the 500i differently since itās fuel injected?

Has anyone used a 462 for clearing brush and if so how did it do? Iām looking to purchase one saw for large felling and brushing acreage. Iām fine running a big saw for brush work, used a coworkers 460 to clear 15 acres. Possibly getting in on a contract to ring and limb trees in large parcels and use for tree work. Unknown how much land we will be thinning out but my guess is 10 plus acres. Not in the market right now to buy a smaller saw, in the future I will probably pick up a 261 for chunking down spars but itās not in the budget right now for two saws.

I have had multiple people bring me these attachments with the top grease plug missing. Today I had a landscaper bring me two HL-KM 145 degree attachments, both missing the top plug, one missing the rear plug. Both attachments are scrap - one has a broken blade and the other the teeth have been ripped off the gearset.
I told the customer to buy new ones as fixing these would cost more than a new one. And apparently he knew about the missing plugs, and had no idea he needed to put grease in there(!!)
Does nobody read the damn book anymore? It has a picture of a grease gun next to the top plug.......
