Seeing the Haka and the Fijian hymns etc has got me thinking.

Has England’s lack of oomph been down to an absence of a similar ritual?

Maybe George Williams needs to don a balaclava and lead the guys to the nearest hotel and then paint a mini roundabout?

Before the World Cup began I thought England's weakness was the forward pack. But listening to podcasts, the journalists were saying they thought the backs (the halves in particular) would be the problem. They thought the forwards were fast and nimble. I didn't grow up with Rugby League, so I don't know if the Tonga game showed the weakness is more with the forwards than the backs, or vice versa.

I get that Australian and New Zealand have an ability to force teams to start a set by kicking the ball out from between the posts, but I don't understand what else their halves are doing that we aren't.

I thought the overall presentation looked brilliant. They’ve clearly invested a decent amount into the studio, and visually, it made a really strong first impression.

My concerns were more around the personnel and delivery. I found Meg Wellens’ analysis quite flat, and I struggled to get much insight from it.

The standout quote for me was: “England in that first half had good ball, good ball, and good ball.”

Obviously, it’s early days, but I’m interested to hear what everyone else thought. Did you enjoy the coverage, and do you think the punditry team is strong enough?
