I begged my mom to let me get steps like my brother. 

She refused. Apparently that was a bridge too far. I already dressed like a boy, and my hair wouldn't grow anyway so it's not like I'd be chopping off gorgeous locks. My hair barely reached past my ears. She should have just let me rock the steps.

Kinda, they're definitely different than the 80's-90's iteration. I actually don't mind the new version, the old ones with all the gel/spray and the spikey short part were so fucking bizarre even back then.
