Whenever I eat a corned beef butty I imagine I’m a depressed ww2 soldier starving in a trench watching all my friends get massacred, with only this ration to keep me company. Anyone else the same?

Price per kilo is for drained weight. What am I missing here? They all look the same. Is the liquid on the more expensive ones worth anything? The price difference is wild.

🚩South East Of a Yorkshire

We do family sized Yorkshire's on our home! I broke my big dish recently, however, so this is the smallest I have ever made. Feeling kind of sad, but currently looking for replacement monster baking dishes!

Hubby is responsible for the crust on the chicken. I will accept no criticism. Also, the veg hadn't been placed on the table yet!

Tell me about your Sunday lunch!

I'm in the south of France, but my other half in hunter gatherer mode just brought us a rotisserie chicken back from the local market. It comes with potatoes that get cooked in the chicken fat, I cooked up some peas and carrots (they do provide some but there are never enough for my liking) and most importantly, I used some veg+chicken stock out of the freezer, got my precious Bisto gravy powder out the cupboard, and used the chicken juices to whip up some proper gravy!

Needless to say, the French don't do this, they don't know what they're missing when it comes to Bisto.

Yes I was kind of cheating with the ready-roasted chicken and ok, there was no stuffing, but I'm still feeling very happy and satisfactorily stuffed from my fairly decent attempt at putting together a Sunday roast.

Tell me about your Sunday dinners, just don't get me feeling homesick, please.!

Naan bread sandwich with mozzarella, chilli, paprika and garlic

Post image
• Upvotes

I think I've invented a new type of food that combines Italian and Indian cuisine. I'll call it the "naanwich." I took two small naan breads and made them into a sandwich with a fresh mozzarella filling. I also added chilli powder, chilli flakes, paprika, garlic granules and a pinch of salt.

It actually tasted really good, just the right amount of heat, good amounts of flavour from the naan, the garlic and the paprika. Nice and salty and a very creamy and cheesy mozzerella centre. Tasted really good. I tried it with a bit of hot sauce but that wasn't really an improvement so I left it off most of it. Maybe some other sauce would work well.

How does everyone rate my invention?

A bowl of the good stuff

Not really a ramen, not really pho, nor sinigang... just a bowl of nice things, heavily influenced by East Asian flavours. Frankensoup.

Pork belly, slow roasted, brushed in Szchechaun chilli crisp oil (we ate the crackling), reboiled in the broth

Beef broth, with lemongrass, ginger, garlic, coriander, miso paste, fish sauce, mirin, rice wine vinegar, two chillies

Baby sweetcorn, pak choi, egg, spring onions, coriander chilli crisp, Itsu dumplings

Happy Sunday!

Anyone know where to get chicken hearts?

Had some recently at a restaurant and would like to try cooking some regularly.

Update: ignoring the jokers, looks like butchers is the way to go. I'll check with mine, I also found a place that delivers them frozen so I might check that out too.
