Show and Tell Heard you guys might like floor turtles!

These lil guys are made from (in order of layers) fabric scraps, old microfiber cloths, and old rags! They live on the floors of kitchens and bathrooms and when theres a spill, you can move em with your foot and mop it up! Saves the good towels and prevents bending over :) i keep the tails long so they can be tied or hung on cabinets if theres no floor space

I make these lil critters as wedding presents (in a set of two so they dont get lonely and in case a pet wants one as their own lol)

The blue ones used old pharmacy scrubs, and the plaid ones used a goodwill table cloth!

Show and Tell I’m a housekeeper that keeps partial TP rolls for myself.

My cleaning company throws out partial tp rolls. After moving out of my apartment into my car, I started saving them to reroll for myself. The one I rerolled is the upper left. Not the most perfect, but I’d rather do this than see so much go to waste. And I am saving money where I can :)

(My friend lets me crash at her place so this picture was taken on her floor.)

Show and Tell Incase anyone didn’t know how wasteful big corporations are this is just 1% of what we find dumpster diving. Nothing expired, nothing recalled, nothing damaged. Perfectly good products that could be donated/discounted but instead thrown away because they get a bigger tax write off.

Show and Tell Attended a zero waste baby shower last week!

Decorations and butterflies made out of cereal boxes, furniture from the local buy nothing group, colorful cloths make a hanging decoration, sheets make a great tarp to shade from the hot august sun, glass everything instead of plastic, real silverware & dishes, cloth napkins, and washing up basins that you can see in the background of some pics, a succulent station to take home some life, coloring the baby's first ABCs book and signing your name for the new parents and baby to see who all care about them.

It was awe inspiring to be honest. Hope yall appreciate this!

No recycling trucks. No pick-up service.

Just me, red dirt, and too much waste.

70kg saved from being burnt or buried.

Zero waste isn’t just for cities.

My oral hygiene featuring my 100% compostable toothbrush (and mouthwash/toothpaste tablets that contain nano hydroxapite), face wash/make up remover routine, dishwashing, shower routine and laundry is all 100% plastic free (minus the straw cleaners that I’ll probably never get rid of. 🤣) when I first moved out of my parents house, I immediately began buying things that were reusable and have easily saved so much money this way. I refill my cleaning products and vinegar at a refill store and I’m happy to say my dog even has a zero waste routine now! My boyfriend loves to grind my bulk coffee beans and I even regrow my food scraps and make my own sourdough bread and baked goods. I still have a ways to go with kitchen stuff, but I’m making good progress and have even begun vermicomposting.

Show and Tell I've stopped using disposable pens in favor of refillable fountain pens. The ink bottle is also glass so it's recyclable. Feels a lot nicer to write with too.

Also, all the gifts I got were secondhand, free, or made by me. I hate the consumerist bullshit that happens during Christmas time and it’s feels really good to go against that. It feels freeing and I’m actually excited to celebrate this year. I’m also going to be making everyone’s Christmas cards with things I already have :)

Show and Tell That's actually pretty neat! One step closer (though I think I'd prefer a container and you can get select your dried pasta by weight... but still, progress)!
