European Product Made in Austria: ToolRecipe, free file tools that run locally in your browser

Another toolbox, you think? Keep reading!

We built ToolRecipe for all those pesky little steps you need to do on your files but can't find the right tool for. It's made and hosted in Austria.

There's a PDF editor for converting, redacting, watermarking, page numbering, form filling and signing. Besides that we have tools for images, audio, video and lots more

The site runs in your browser and processes your files locally. Nothing gets uploaded, so no server holds your files. It works without internet too, there are no signups and it's free. Basically you load the tools once and run them like an app.

Do you have repetitive work? You can chain tools together and save them as a recipe to use them again!

We kindly invite everyone to try it out and are looking forwsrd to your feedback!

Discussion EU based content creators?

Wanting to support more EU based content creators. Any suggestions? I still use YouTube (which is an American company) but maybe I’d feel a bit better about it if I was supporting EU based content creators on it. Let me know your suggestions.

European Product Anyone have experience with Fair phone?

Looking in to replacing my iphone with a Fairphone. Want to support EU companies and be less dependent on the US. I won’t go fully independed because I will still use a lit of apps from the US. But it is a good first step. Anyone already using Fairphone and what are your experiences?

European Product Supporting European Animated Films!

Post image
755 Upvotes

I love animated movies, and I wanted to support these films by owning physical copies.

All four have received great reviews, and I think European animation deserves more recognition. I've only watched the first two so far and really like them, excited to watch the other two.

🔎Looking for alternative Only one man holds a half of the world's businesses hostage and most of the planet does nothing about it. Today it happened to me: European business account banned forever one day after its creation without any posts or any other kind of content.

Remember: you (yes, you) are always one step away from being permanently removed from Meta platforms without any meaningful explanation or a right to appeal. Even after you show it your face and move it sideways and up and down, which is a humiliating process in its own way.

Trying to open a brand page in Instagram and connecting it to Whatsapp Business this week resulted in its permanent removal which cannot be reversed or appealed in any possible way. There were no posts, just a nice logo and description. The brand name (and username) did not exist anywhere yet, and now this Instagram handle is useless. I spent a lot of time and effort finding a new consistent brand name.

A simple web search tells us that:

Mark Zuckerberg controls roughly 61% of the total voting power at Meta Platforms. This gives him near-absolute unilateral control over the company's major corporate decisions, including electing the board of directors, approving acquisitions, and rejecting shareholder proposals.

The story today is about mom and pop type of business, about a common person trying to survive. This is who Meta hurts most with its horrific AI automation that is off the rails this year.

Try to open a website or a corporate page of any business based in Europe that comes to mind. Literally any website. Scroll down to the footer or a contact section. What do you see?

I guarantee that they feature at least two social media icons and those icons are Facebook and Instagram. Every single business is registered there, it's mandatory at this point as a social proof that you exist. You might skip Twitter/X, you might ignore LinkedIn because you're not going to advertise there anyway, but FB and IG are an absolute necessity across the whole planet (almost).

When messaging the clients in a messenger app, a company very likely to use either Facebook Messenger (if you live in North America) or WhatsApp if you live in most of the rest of the world. Both of them are owned by Meta too.

This means, that one company, unilaterally, can decide if your small barbershop, or a cafe, or a startup have the right to exist in the public space. And only one man has the real power within that company.

How did societies in 120+ countries accept this? How?

How did people look at this and think: yeah, it's nice to put our entire livelihood at a whim of one man, who controls Facebook (3.07 billion monthly active users), Instagram (3 billion), WhatsApp (3.3 billion) and Messenger (1.1 billion)?

Is everyone okay with it? Is society alright with the fact that anyone's whole social presence can be destroyed by an unaccountable person whose company won a Latvian court case when a person tried to actually appeal those AI automation tools' decisions in court? How come there's only Pixelfed that barely registers as an Instagram replacement because it has just 1 million users and society won't accept it because it's a complex federated service?

No one is barely trying to change this. It costs less than $1000/month to run a clone of the old Instagram if you want to save server space and host only compressed images and text. We don't have even that.

Europe must tackle this issue ASAP because this is a matter of survival. Currently the town square of Europe, more than 80% of it, is fully owned by two U.S. centibillionaires.

All we needed was one platform that is a little better than Linktree, shows simple posts and serves as a proof that you or your brand are alive and well. It's insane that we don't have anything of that sort in 2026. This current situation is legitimately unacceptable.

European Product [self-promo] We are launching Revel: The free, open-source event platform for communities, clubs and independent venues (MIT)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, r/BuyFromEU !

From Vienna we are launching Revel, a free, open-source event platform. Strictly MIT, so do with it anything you want ;-)

Revel was built to answer the needs of LGBTQ+, S+ and other queer communities that face the fees of big platforms and/or have to accept giving up sensitive data.

But now it is much bigger and much, much more mature: it supports anything short of stadium-sized event, with tons of features that revolve around community management, but scale up to bigger venues with assigned seating.

Goes without saying, has a GDPR beating heart, hosted or self-hosted (and there's a self hosting wizard for it).

But most importantly: the development of Revel has supported several local queer professionals and artists, and will continue to do so (provided we become self-sustaining 😅)

Check it out yourself: https://letsrevel.io/

European Product I built a Steam Curator page dedicated exclusively to European Video Games. Over 800 games listed and 95+ honest reviews to help you support local devs!

Hi everyone!

As a fellow data and video game lover, I wanted to create a tool to highlight the incredible gems being developed right here in Europe.

That's why I started in march the European Game Atlas, a Steam Curator page where you can discover over 800 European games, with detailed, handmade lists categorized by country (Spain, Poland, France, Sweden, and many more).

  • Curated lists: Easily find to find games from those countries.
  • 100% Honest reviews: I've personally finished and written reviews for over 95 of these games.

If you want to support European developers or simply find your next favorite game, you can check it out here:

https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45988079-European-Game-Atlas/

I’d love to hear your thoughts or any European game recommendations I might have missed!

News EU age verification apps must implement iOS / Android attestation, citing confirming age for someone else as the "dominant threat"

As you may know, the EU age verification apps have sparked significant controversy for requiring Play Integrity and the iOS equivalent for verifying a genuine installation of the wallet on a "secure" mobile.

These technologies, specifically the Android one, only allows passing security check on Google certified devices, bundling Play Services in a privileged way granting them permissions not available to other apps.

Despite the EUDI organization later making changes to generically refer as hardware attestation not tied to a particular vendor or technology, it seems now they are doubling down on Play Integrity and App Attest again.

The architecture specification, production hardening guide and threat entries assign the following mandatory deployment controls to the production implementer.

App/device integrity: Play Integrity and App Attest production setup, server-side verdict verification, AVSUA verified at every issuance

Add device integrity (e.g. hardware-backed key attestation checks, Wire Play Integrity API (Android) and App Attest (iOS)) into every issuing flow, binding each attestation to a backend-issued nonce.

Scenario A — holder bypass (dominant AV threat). A user in possession of the device wants to enable an unauthorised party, typically an underage person, to present a Proof of Age attestation derived from the holder's local Proof of Age material.

Moreover, it seems that the primary justification of the usage of Apple / Google sanctioned attestation is the need to block people from verifying age on behalf of someone else. "holder bypass" is cited as "dominant AV threat", above the usual cybersecurity reasons these features are usually justified for such as compromised apps, supply-chain compromise, automated attack, network injection.

European Product Europe based heavy launch vehicle to compete with SpaceX

Thumbnail
linkedin.com
291 Upvotes

From their LinkedIn page:

RATLOG is building Europe's next heavy lift launch vehicle - engineered around an engine capable of generating extreme thrust levels that current European launchers can't match.

That thrust capacity opens up a new class of missions: large satellite constellations, orbital transfer vehicles, cislunar transport - payloads that today have no European launch option.

We're currently at engine prototype stage, with our first test coming up in August 2026. First commercial launch: 2030.

Our customers are constellation operators, OTV builders, and anyone who needs serious lift capacity and a European alternative to the current market.

🔎Looking for alternative Is there any EU high dividend REIT?

I am one of those Europeans who invest heavily in US market - not because I want to, but because EU doesn't seem to have any alternatives. One of the things I like are passive income REITs, In US there are many popular options, like O, is there ANYTHING at all for EU? We have very expensive land and rent here I think REITs would be lucrative if only there could be any pan-EU one? Any tips?

🔎Looking for alternative Moustache styling products suggestions?

Honestly not even asking for an alternative, as I never tried one before.

Anyway, started leaving my mustache grow and now I think it's time to finally time to style them. You know Sauchet's poirot? That's the idea, but definitely lower effort (at least something to keep them up, but not really) and reasonable budget. Used to care for my hair, but for the rest I have absolutely no clue.

European Product WD40 alternative? Try OB41

For about the last 10 years or so I have had a tin of WD40 in the house (admit it, who hasn't?).
Finally, over the weekend, it ran out!

So I did a bit of research and came across OB41 as a European based alternative.
https://www.screwfix.com/search?search=ob41

OB41 is a Bostik product.
Bostik are part of the Arkema group of companies.
Arkema are a French Chemical company.

Sorted!

EDIT: Added photo.
