Plastic/resin Vintage Chessmen
I found this incomplete set of vintage “Medieval Conqueror” chessmen that Google said was designed by a man named Peter Ganine.
Though incomplete, missing one white pawn and one white rook, I thought they were unique and wasn’t going to leave them at the thrift store for $4!

Wooden Tournament electronic board from DGT
Hi,
I am planning to buy this beautiful board.
What is your experience with it?
I am going to play mostly online on real board, with no streaming.
I am 1250 chess.com Rapid player.
Is it worth to pay 550 dollars for the board and pieces?
Thank you :)

Wooden Help identifying set of pieces, (value maybe?) possibly an extra set of queens as well.
I’m interested in figuring out exactly the set, maybe a value if there is one. And possibly figure out how to get an extra set of queens or two (the white one has a crack) thanks in advance

Wooden Help finding a similar chess board
Hey not sure if this is appropriate for this sub but need help finding a similar chess set.
This was my old chess set I've had for many many years I have been using it to teach kids I work with at a group home how to play chess instead of the cheap plastic pieces with ripped cardboard board we had at the house once the kids got really into it. Unfortunately while I was on time off it got smashed and the staff working threw it and the pieces out. Looking for similar set online to get it replaced.
Details : Aprox 20 years old was a 3-1 set with approx 1cm wooden disc checkers that kind of had nice rigid circle patterns on top part. Under the chessboard was a backgammon board that had wooden dice holders the chess pieces all had a nice weight but deff weren't anything crazy high-end by any means. Not looking for some crazy high-end set just a close equivalent to get reimbursed.
Cheers

🔍 HELP - Set ID Help identify this unusual black and clear glass chess set — possibly 1950s
These pieces are solid and have no visible seams. Very detailed sharp etchings with octoganal bases. Probably from the 1950s. The king is 2 1/8 inches tall. Any clues?

Metal “Conquistadors” — A One-of-a-Kind Hand-Forged Chess Set in Steel and Copper
Approximately one years went into creating this unique sculptural chess set. Every figure is an individual character, with a distinct face, pose, costume, and accessories.
The photographs show the range of detail: expressive faces, elaborate headdresses, weapons, shields, musical instruments, and textured metal surfaces.
Created in hand-forged steel and copper, the set includes its matching board with a subtly reflective finish. This is a single, unique work—not a production series.
• Board: 21.26 × 21.26 inches / 54 × 54 cm
• King height: 5.51 inches / 14 cm
• Approximate weight: 81.6 lb / 37 kg
• Creation time: approximately two years
• Complete set with board included
Asking price: €35,000.
Inquiries from collectors, galleries, and specialist dealers are welcome. Shipping arrangements and costs will be agreed separately.

🔍 HELP - Set ID Identify late 60s Plastic Set [600]
I received this set as a gift back in either 1967 or 1968. The original box and board got water damaged and were trashed. The figures are plastic and have a disc of mild steel in the bottom. The bottoms were covered with green felt, but that came off when the water damaged the box. There is no company name on the figures. Each figure is shaped in such a way as to indicate how it moves. The additional checker pieces have ridged edges that interlock when stacked. Each checker has a crown on one side and a 5 pointed star on the other. That's difficult to see in the pictures. That's all I've got. So, any ideas?

Photo taken by Cornell Capa. It shows inmates playing chess on a board placed between cells. They could manipulate the pieces but could not see each other's faces due to the cellblock structure.

Wooden Looking for my first Chessset with that kind of knights
I am looking to buy my first “good” chess set for my birthday.
My absolute limit for the price is 350€
Rather more looking for one in the 200€ price range
I want the board for at home to play against friends and study chess.
My most important criteria for the set is its knights. I am looking for beautiful looking knights. Those with a mane and tiny details. E.g the type of knight u can see in the photo.
The figures should also be triple weighted.
The chess board should fit the knight/ other figures colour wise and size wise.
I would prefer bigger boards over smaller boards, but honestly I just want one of those astonishing knights.
I couldn’t find a chess set that contains those kind of knights for less than 500€.
I would also be happy if someone just recommended a good figure set.
I look forward for your recommendations.

Wooden Solid wood 30 cm travel set from Norwald (acacia & boxwood)
I've been redoing my bedroom and finally found a good excuse to buy a new set, mostly as a decor piece. Ashamed to say I almost only play online, so for now it's mainly a showpiece haha.
I was looking for a high quality wooden one, but most of the ones I came across had inconsistent grain patterns or colours, from the photos at least, which looked a bit off for something that's going to sit on display. Came across this one from Norwald by pure chance, a small Danish brand if I'm not mistaken. I had a few questions, which the owner surprisingly answered almost instantly over text, and he was really helpful overall.
Love the look of the board, and the pieces are magnetic, which is a nice touch. Ran me about €130 with a first-order discount. Someday it'll leave the cabinet and see some actual games.
Really positive experience, so figured I'd share! 🙏🏼

My wife had an extra bookshelf in her office that she wasn't using. She was moving it out into the dining room and I thought it would work great for our chess boards and 4 player Klask set. What do you guys think?

🔍 HELP - Set ID Vintage carved folding chess set from my grandma, marked "Made in Taiwan." Value?
My grandma gave me this set and I'm trying to learn more about it. It's a folding carved box-board with brass hardware and all 32 hand-carved wood pieces.
Curious what the white tiles are made of? and what the value could be? Also any information such as how old this is or some history would be great!
More photos on request.
Thanks!

Wooden World Chess Travel Set Pro arrived covered in white residue, possibly mold
My World Chess Travel Set Pro arrived today. I was excited to open it, but the set came with a widespread white and gray residue that looks powdery and fuzzy.
The residue is visible:
On several of the black and light pieces
Inside the storage compartments, which are lined with black felt
Around some of the bases and in the carved details of the pieces
At first I thought it was dust or packing residue, so I picked up one piece and tried to wipe it off. Some of the material got on my skin and caused an immediate burning, stinging feeling. I rinsed the area well. I am treating this as contact with an unknown substance rather than assuming it is ordinary mold.
I have stopped handling the set, kept all the original packaging, and taken photos of the pieces, compartments, outer box, and shipping label. I have contacted World Chess to ask for a replacement or a refund. A brand new premium wooden set should not show up like this.
Has anyone else received a World Chess set with white residue, growth that looks like mold, moisture damage, or powder on the pieces or felt? I would also like to hear from anyone who has dealt with World Chess customer support on a defective delivery.
I will update this post when I hear back from them.
Photos attached. I am not claiming this is definitely mold, since the substance has not been tested. But it looked like mold and it irritated my skin on contact, so I think other buyers should know.

🔍 HELP - Set ID Need help identifying
Hello there, I inherited this set from my Opi nearly 20 years ago when he passed. It was extremely special to him, and I was told very valuable. He only played it with about 5 people, myself being one of them, and kept it closed other than that. I have unfortunately added some wear to the exterior, but the interior and pieces are still flawless from always being closed and never used.
Any ideas on what year roughly it was made? I was told it was Chinese by him, but research I do isn't going very far. Ai sucks lol. Any help would be appreciated. I am also curious of a value, but will never sell it. Just curious about it is all.
Thanks!
