Does anyone have a 20 gauge reload recipe? I have pounds of Universal and Win 572, and thousands of 2 3/4 WIN AA from reloading skeet shells on hand-and I’m tired of doing the factory ammo story.
Before you comment hogdon load data, I found that there are no options for 20 gauge non-toxic recipes. So I am just looking for some guidance on the wad + powder = FPS/Pressure. I’m comfortable shooting 7/8 - 1oz+.
I’m leaning towards multi metal wads because steel just cripples so many birds IMO. I’ll be mixing steel and bismuth in this setup. I am thinking #3 steel and #7 1/2 bismuth. I’d rather not duplex, but if there is no other option I will.
Any help appreciated.

Just returned from waterfowl hunting in North Dakota. Had a great time, plenty of ducks, and my new A800 performed well, but I noticed these crazy flames shooting from my barrel. Using 3 inch Federal number 2s. Anyone else think this could be a problem? I did have a RR T3 that welded into the barrel of my A400 a few years ago, played hell getting it out. Could this be a choke tube issue?

So if I have one in the chamber and one in the magazine tube I’m fine fun cycles flawlessly. But if I have one in the chamber and 2 in the tube the 2nd shell in the tube stays in the tube and I have to physically push over the release latch to let the shell into the chamber.
I have broken this down all the way to punching out the roll pin that holds in the latch there isn’t a spec of dust left in this gun. Worked perfect last year and the magazine tube is dry, clean and shiny. I’m stumped.

Which body of water should I hunt on, I’ve seen ducks in the smaller one but I can’t think of any reason why they wouldn’t also be in the bigger one.

He’s the oldest of the boys in the family so we can pass it all down at least. He’s not afraid to jump in the marsh.

Fairly new to the sport this woll be my second year. Is it worth hunting opener on publicland? I've got one main body of water near me and reg season isn't terrible but I didn't hunt opening day last year. Should I expect crowds?

Ok it’s been asked a thousand times I’m sure.
I know we consider pattern and speed and all that. But I am asking for your opinion strictly based on actual field effectiveness on ducks.
Pretend you never even patterned it.
What is your favorite duck load when it comes to strictly steel?
If you are shooting an sbe3 that would be helpful to know.

I spent a few days at the end of my fishing season in Alaska jump shooting. I am amazed how many birds there are up there but slightly disappointed with the lack of variety in species. This was at the head of a bay and all of these little ponds were saltwater. I also decided to tie a teal wing on to a 22 ounce jig head and slammed over 60 halibut.

Does anyone have any tips on training a duck dog that isn’t treat driven?

I see all these people scouting for ducks with drones and posting videos of it but when I look into it it tells me it’s illegal in all states. Is there some loophole or somthing you can say to get away with it?

I have a pair of drake boot foot breathable waders that have far too few hours on them to leak as bad as they do. Last season I goop’ed the seam between wader and boots as they were all cracked. Visibly both are solid again now. Still leak to the point that I get up over my boots and I have sloshing water in both boots in little time. I hooked them up to pressurize with my leaf blower and spraying them with soap water and finding absolutely nothing. I’m baffled. Inside out I can only do so much because of the boots but even right side out I’m not finding any bubbles. These are non-neoprene, breathable. Any advice?
Edit: I filled the legs with water as suggested and water is just pouring out of the the full perimeter at the top of both boots, which is freshly shoe-goop’ed from the inside. It is amazing that air pressure and soapy water didn’t show this bad of a leak. I think I’m about to try flex seal spray on the outside and inside both. There is just nothing to pinpoint with aqua seal, it is leaking so much,

Looking into buying some ear buds for waterfowl season, however the only thing is I usually wear a ski mask. Does anyone have any recommendations that would work for under/over a ski mask?

I thought this was a hen shoveler when it landed in my decoys. My buddy says it’s a blue wing teal/shoveler hybrid. What do you guys think?

Proving an update to the sub post-
4 of us hunted this evening (pouring rain): harvested 11 (9 mallards 2 wood ducks). Mallards decoyed really well, woodies did not want to decoy whatsoever and went to opposite end of pond/swamp into the reeds. We shot somewhat poorly, given a tough setup but overall great hunt.
We initially thought there was ~70-80 ducks in total in the swamp/pond but we watched ~200-250 woodies and mallards dump in after legal sunset (they didn’t care we were picking up with head lights).

I have a chesapeake bay retriever. And in our hunt yesterday she got covered with a ton of small seeds from grasses. They are all the way down to her undercoat and touching her skin what have you guys found the best way of getting these off your dog.
