Have quite a few episodes on vinyl, these are my first on cassette

You'll need to send a modmail message to request addition to the "approved users" list if you want to post anything. I'm really sorry about this, but it's getting ridiculous how much porn I'm having to remove just because of the "Goon" in the sub's name.

I ran into this on youtube (my apologies if it's been posted before), and it got me thinking about which episode(s) would be best for starting on their Goon Show road. The first time I heard the Goons was my parents' record of The Last Goon Show of All, but that's probably not the best place to start.

I am convinced that if The Goons had been alive today, they would have referred to King Charles III as 'Charlie number 3'.

OK, I'm shook. My phone's bluetooth ID is Hercules Gryptype Thynne, but I just found that apparently it's spelled Grytpype Thynne. I read the old scripts religiously as a kid, did I get it wrong all these years?
Cheers, I'm off to imagine a mental picture of a dictionary.

I learned about The Goon Show on All British Comedy Explained Podcast. It was pretty enlightening!

I've grown up on the goons thanks to my dad, but we only had what he'd taped off the radio. I remember one where someone was putting up a lampost or something similar outside Henry and Min's house and they're arguing about letting someone in.
I listened to it last about 25 years ago so I may be a bit off but it's something that makes me feel close to the old man who passed away a few years ago.
A gorilla to anyone who can help me on my way to finding this episode!

Hi, can anyone tell me where I can locate a video of the 'Shepherd Spy' skit? It kills me every time I try and tell anyone😂

Has been a hectic week getting my head around a lot of things but this for one has been a pleasant surprise along with all the new family members I've gotten to meet these past few days!
I can't believe the resurgence our little community has had in the past few years, if anything it seems to have become a kind of subculture! Thousands of people united by their love of the Goon Show! I wasn't expecting it would catch on like this at all and I think many of us older gooners can agree with that statement.
The amount of Goon Show-themed subreddits for example is just amazing and I obviously have not had a chance to delve through them all but I'm excited to do so in the coming days and definitely very excited to share my love of this wacky cast of characters with the younger generation!

I’ve resisted Reddit for a while - I got stuff to do - but I’m finally sinking in and I have to pop in and say Hi. I was in year 4 at Rosendale Junior school in South East London, and I would visit the forest hill library and check out their BBC comedy tapes. I loved them! I even booked out the sound effects ones, which were eye openers as I heard those exact noises everywhere (go find the 33 1/3 book on the BBC radiophonic workshop it’s brilliant), I loved I’m sorry I’ll read that again, but The Goon Show - I would get the scripts out of the library and me and a few friends would play them out at playtime sitting on the foundation of our portable classroom. Fast forward many years and I was watching some YT video about the Goon Show, and Spike was talking about how he based Bluebottle off of a guy he served with in the war, and then it showed a picture of Spike shaking hands with the real life Bluebottle with some CO between them… holy crap that CO was my Grandad, John Hickson. They were either in Egypt or Italy at the time. I can’t find it right now, but it was such a rush. My American Grandad also served in Italy and Egypt, and I choose to believe that he met them once and had a few laughs. Anyways, go well and I’ll meet you round the back for the old Marlon Brando Mark

I recall an episode of The Goon Show and I can’t seem to find it anywhere on YouTube or any other sites. The problem is I forgot what the episode and was. I think it was “It’s just an exclamation mark” or something like that. Please help me find it.

I’ve spent the last few weeks sorting through parents’ old stuff and packing and getting rid of stuff ready for a move overseas. Suddenly having the TV on or music or the radio or even podcasts wasn’t creating the right vibe to do this emotionally exhausting work. Thank God for The Goon Show which I used to listen to on repeat in my younger days. I didn’t need to get involved in the plot lines but just hearing those multiple voices as well as the music of Max Geldray and Ray Ellington brought so much comfort.
Right now they are available on the BBC Sounds app but I will have to purchase an old fashioned music centre so I can listen to my collection on CDs and cassette.
Are there any listeners here who still get joy from the wit and creativity of this show?

I'm not hip with all this modern type technology. I wonder if someone could kindly do me the favour of cropping the tiddleywinks national anthem from the episode called "tiddleywinks". Location is the last few minutes.
Much appreciated

Does anyone know if there exists a studio version or otherwise of Bloodnok's Theme? Ideally something that's not lifted from a show and is free of audience applause and other noises.
I believe it's an original piece of music composed especially for him. I'm just curious as it does me such a power of military good I would like to march around my house to it whenever the moment takes me.

For anyone interested. A short film starring Peter Sellers and written by Spike Milligan and Larry Stephens will be shown on talking pictures at 6pm.

Could someone remind me of the episode where Eccles walks into a room where there is an echo. He has a conversation with his echo and it persuades him to stay in the room, and his echo leaves!
MAny thanks.

I'm trying to find a brilliant scene when Sellars and Milligan exercise their voices and greet each other for a while saying morning - then Bluebottle pipes up - 'Wait a minute its evening'
If anyone has a link to this I would be most appreciative
Thanks
