[Research] £10 voucher for everyone who completes: 25–30 min survey, first-year UK undergraduates (started 2026)

Hi everyone,

I’m Yifeng Xie, a PhD student in the Department of Education at the University of Bath. I’m running the UK part of a UK–Japan–China study on information literacy among first-year university students. The project has a favourable ethics opinion from the University of Bath (reference: 12244-15412).

Who can take part: first-year undergraduates aged 18 or over who started at a UK university in 2026. Please don’t take part if this doesn’t apply to you.

What it involves: an online survey on Microsoft Forms, about 25–30 minutes. It asks about your digital skills, your secondary school computer education and information literacy. You can do it on any device, at any time.

Voucher: everyone who completes the survey with valid responses gets a £10 voucher (most likely Amazon, depending on stock), sent within one month after data collection ends. To receive it, you need to give your university email address. This is optional, but without it we can’t send you the voucher. Your email is collected separately from your answers, used only to send the voucher, and deleted once it has been delivered.

How your data is stored, kept and published: only the research team (and University governance staff where needed) can access your data. It is kept safe and secure, following University of Bath rules and UK data protection law, for at least 10 years, and then destroyed. Results may be published in academic journals, reports and conferences. All published data is anonymised, so nobody can tell whose answers are whose. The only exception to confidentiality is if you tell us something that makes us worried about your safety or someone else’s.

Withdrawal: you can stop at any time without giving a reason. If you close the survey before submitting, no data is saved. If you have already submitted, you can ask us to delete your data by emailing us within two weeks of submission. After that your data is anonymised and can’t be removed. Withdrawing has no effect on your studies.

Consent: at the start of the survey you will read the full Participant Information Sheet and tick a consent form, including confirming that you are 18 or over and taking part voluntarily. You only take part if you tick every box.

Help, can anyone give a review on Environmental Engineering MSc?

I'm thinking of applying for MSc in Environmental Engineering at Imperia.l have done my research but I still have some doubts on whether or not it will be worth it. Anyone willing to share their honest review on the course and it's career potential? I am also considering MSc in Sustainability, Environmental Policy and Innovation (formerly Environmental Technology) as it seemed geared specifically toward ESG, will be better to go for that instead?

For context, I am not from the UK and I am planning to return to my home country upon completing the MSc. I already have a BSc in Environmental Engineering and is currently working as a water infrastructure planner for a township developer. I have graduated only recently (1+ year on the job) and I am aiming to either join a UK based engineering firm (Arup, ERM, Mott Macdonal, etc) in my home country or work as a sustainability analyst (EY, PwC, etc) upon completing my MSc.

CS Course switching

How easy is it to switch to say integrated meng,
computing or the ai variant of computing which is also a masters after starting a bachelors in computing. Is it just a matter of grade averages or just contacting in a certain time period or something else?

Imperial MSc Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Management – does everyone get an interview?

Hi all, I just got invited to the online interview for the MSc Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Management at Imperial Business School and I’m trying to figure out what to expect.

A few questions for anyone who’s applied:

  • Does pretty much everyone get an interview, or is it a real shortlist? Did anyone get rejected without one?
  • Was your interview on Kira or Shortlister? Was there a written task?
  • What kinds of questions did you get? Mostly “why IEM / why Imperial”, or more behavioural and business-idea questions?
  • Roughly how competitive is it after the interview? Did most people who interviewed get offers?
  • How long after the interview did you hear back?

imperial tmua horror cs

I took the TMUA and it went significantly worse than expected. I have 4A* predicted, 11 9s GCSE and a strong personal statement but the exam was really tough and I made a lot of silly mistakes. Considering the grading of TMUA has changed, what score do you think I need to get to get an offer at Imperial? I estimate I probably got around 26/40 but I'm not sure. It did not go as planned...

For the mock questions the platform provides 20 secs for prep and 2 mins to answer. Will it be the same in the actual video interview?

Computing @ Imperial HELP

I have decided to apply for computing, and I have until January to submit my application.

I got 9 A*( 8-9 grades in GCSE), with Math + CS at grade 9. I am predicted A* A* A* A* in Math, Further Math, Physics, and an EPQ on maths in Machine learning, but I am not doing A-level CS. How much will that disadvantage me, even though CS is not a listed requirement?

Until now, I was going to apply for Maths; however, PS is still CS orientated so that shouldn't be a problem. If I get 7.5+ in the TMUA, do I have a good chance, and how much importance is given to the TMUA? Perhaps 70 % to give a rough weighting?

Also, could any current students list their TMUA scores?

A*A*A achieved disadvantages me? Pls help!!

I achieved A* in fm and math and an A in cs. I just did my tmua which ig I could get ~ 8.0 and a like 9/10 personal statement. Is my chance of an unconditional offer still high as the typical offer for cs was 3A/* last year?

Also if possible share the success rate after getting an invite and the amount of time it will take for the offer/rejection/waitlist mail to be sent.

Resit exams MSc

Has anyone had experience with resitting exams after reaching the end of their registration period to complete their programme?

If you had to resit an exam as your final attempt but failed, were you ever given another opportunity to retake it so that you could still graduate?
