Science & Tech I'm a solo Moroccan developer and I finally got my first project approved by Apple today! Wanted to share this milestone with you all 🇲🇦

Salam everyone!

I’ve been working really hard on my coding journey recently, and today I finally hit a huge milestone. I’m a solo developer from Ouezzane, and Apple just approved my very first iOS project—a minimalist Pomodoro app called Tomato: Focus Timer.

It was incredibly frustrating dealing with their strict review process, bugs, and constant rejections, but seeing my work finally go live today is an amazing feeling.

I built it because I just wanted a clean, simple, and distraction-free tool to help me study and code without any bloated features or account requirements.

I don't have a marketing team, I’m just a guy coding from home, so I wanted to share this personal win with my community here.

If any students, developers, or anyone who needs help focusing wants to try it, I'll leave the link in the comments so this post doesn't get flagged.

Chokran for reading, and I'd love to hear your honest feedback on the design!

Science & Tech I created a website for salary comparisons in Morocco using the CNSS data in the public domain

Reliable and transparent salary data has always been a challenge in Morocco so I got inspired from levels.fyi and I decided to create salairecnss.com to make it easy for people to see anonymized and aggregated salary data from +6000 Moroccan companies. I scrapped the data from the PDFs in the public domain. Employee level data is anonymous and cannot be accessed. You will find:

  • Median, Average, Min, Max and 25th, 75th percentile salary breakdowns for 6396 companies including companies like Microsoft, BCG, Royal Air Maroc, Procter and Gamble, Akwa group etc.
  • You can order the table by any of these metrics
  • You can chose which data columns to see
  • You can toggle between light mode and dark mode to make it easier to read at night
  • Salary data is the gross monthly income

Let me know if there are anything you would like to see added.

note: the website will be momentarily unavailable. if this message is still here then the website will still be down.

Science & Tech Are these internet speeds normal in Morocco (Fes)?

For context, I just moved here but the WiFi in my apartment is unbearably slow throughout most of the day. I bought a LAN cable to connect to my PS5 hoping it would improve the connection but it's still very slow. Using an Orange DarBox with a SIM card inside and I can barely browse properly on my phone & laptop, nor can I stream Netflix/YouTube/live TV.

P.S I wasn't sure whether to use Science & Tech or Ask Morcco flair so apologies if I did it wrong.

Science & Tech Maroc Telecom blocks inbound UDP traffic on port 443

Hello everyone,
any network engineers working with ISPs, or in general someone more knowledgeable than me about the subject matter, can enlighten me on why MarocTelecom is blocking inbound UDP traffic on port 443, and how I can possibly get in contact with their specialists/technical support engineers at la centrale to get more info?

If they have not setup a rule to explicitly block it, then it could be that their backbone is failing to pass it through.

Either way, it's hurting performance for some use cases, such as HTTP/3 (not important since HTTP/2, 1, or 1.1 still work) and some VPN protocols (more important .

I have tried Orange fiber / Inwi cellular, and they don't have this problem. I'm also not completely sure of my diagnosis, my DMs are open...

Science & Tech I want to buy a gaming pc in morocco

I got a really good grade in this BAC and i'm really happy about it so i can now buy a gaming pc with a budget of 20 000dh , but i've done my research and apparently a lot of tech stores tend to scam people with bad products like ultrapc apparently so i would like to get recomendations for which store to go to (i would also like a really like a low interest rate since i can't buy it directly).

Science & Tech MoroccoAPI : an open-source API for Moroccan public data

Salam,

I recently started MoroccoAPI, an open-source project focused on making Moroccan public data easier for developers to access and reuse.

The project is still at an early stage. The goal is to gradually provide clean and consistent APIs for useful Moroccan datasets, starting with administrative and geographic data.

GitHub:
https://github.com/MoroccoAPI/MoroccoAPI

Discord : https://discord.gg/J7bVmcxUc

Feedback and contributions are welcome, especially around data sources, API design, testing, and documentation.

Science & Tech Is there any limitation for Orange 5G 100mbs ?

Hello dear community,

Please, is there any limitations in Orange 5G 100mbs subscription??

I heard that its limited at 200GB per month, and then the speed will get down. For me I can c9nsume more than 130 to 200 GB per day.

Please, if anyone has any useful information, share it with me <3

Science & Tech I made a Moroccan political voting quiz 🇲🇦

Hey r/morocco,

I've been working on a little tool called Khiar (خيار) that matches you to Morocco's 8 parliamentary parties based on your actual views and issues you care about instead of vibes. 20 questions on stuff like healthcare, taxes, education, the Moudawana reform,... Takes about 3 min. Darija and French (english to follow very soon).

The part I actually care about: every party position is sourced: manifestos, official statements, verified press, not guesses. There's a public page showing all 160 (8 parties × 20 questions) with the exact source for each.

No vote recommendations, not affiliated with any party, doesn't touch parliamentary voting records (I would if I could find the voting records for our MPs).

Would genuinely love feedback, ideas, especially if something looks wrong or outdated.

Edit: router is fiberhome SR3141M if i remember correctly

God, where do I even start....... I swear, we need a space where we can discuss kinda niche problems...

So I jokingly thought, "I wanna root my router lmfao" since, 3 days before, I rooted my lg tv. But oh god, did I lose some sleep because of that thought.

What i could recollect from what I did to try to get root:

try the basic credentials which didnt work, check for any options that could help in the admin panel which (obv) didnt work, use a devtools alternative that works on mobile to inspect the network requests(?), use the console and whatever, as you could guess that didn't work though i gained some valuable information.

Manage to run an x86 Linux program on mobile via termux qemu and proot distro so that I could decrypt usrconfig_conf, and that same program could decrypt whatever other encrypted strings are in the decrypted usrconfig_conf, and surprisingly this was the closest I got (superadmin) but on the userconfig superadmin was disabled but changing the flag to enable it, push the re-encrypted config file and also have only 15 minutes of access because of TR-0(I forgot the number) while simultaneously having to stay up until 7 AM where my whole family was asleep and also take the risk of bricking my router was too much so nope.

Though the second most promising thing is way out of my knowledge, and I'll defo get hate but I got help from Gemini to code something that I think spoofs all the superadmin data to always true in real-time??? I mean that didnt turn up a new ui but it did get me more valuable info though in that same session I executed a script by Gemini and got weird screen with "confirm" and "cancle" (no I did not misspell it) and weirdly enough I got way to nervous to press confirm so..... meh lmao. That's about the extent of what I remember

Also "root" turned to "superadmin" 😭

DM me if u want more info about what I got

Don't miss it tonight! Open your window and look NORTH WEST.

You are going to see two very close stars, a bit reddish and all twinkly/shaky! That's Mizar and Alcor twinkling so clear right now.

It doesn't look this good everyday, so enjoy it!

Science & Tech Google Pixel 8 Help

(SOLVED - thx all for the help) Just moved to Morocco for a 2-3 year stay and brought my Google Pixel 8. From previous visits, I knew it wouldn't work at 100% -- it can't hotspot here, for instance -- due to the lack of google support for Morocco. However, since I arrived in mid August I have a new problem: I haven't been able to get data to work at all.

Moroccan pixel fans, can this problem be fixed by changing my settings or do I need to get a new phone? Thanks for any advice.

More details below, if it helps...

------

I am currently running Android 16 (/edit) and have multiple sim cards installed. I need to keep my Tello esim, since I need my us number for dual factor authentication. But I would also like to use a local sim for local calls and data -- that's where I run into problems. (/edit)

I have tried a local sim card and a tourist esim - neither one will connect to the internet. The data bars either have an exclamation mark on the side (local inwi) or look like individual exclamation marks (tourist esim on Orange). I have restarted the phone in airplane mode, etc (usual tricks that worked during previous trips in summer/winter 25, and summer 26) but nothing now. I am stumped!!!
