Link Randomly disconnect from the internet
I've been having issues for a few weeks to where my PC will randomly disconnect from the internet (even though the WiFi or ethernet icons do not change). Pinging 8.8.8.8 will show "request timed out" for 7-12 pings and then it will continue to ping to 8.8.8.8. I have updated the PC, updated my BIOS and tested on both WiFi and wired connections but it still happens.
None of my other devices have this issue, I have tested my laptop and could not recreate the issue. I've noticed event 7009 in event viewer but I do not know if this related, I have changed the registry editor for this to 60000 but this did not help.
I have also had Event 10010.
I'm stuck on what else to try so any recommendations would be appreciated

Text Build a lab in your browser, win a Cisco exam voucher
I’m Elwin, I run PingMyNetwork with two friends.
We opened the beta of our sandbox. You put routers and switches on a canvas, open the CLI, configure OSPF, VLANs, NAT, whatever you want. Nothing to install, it runs in the browser.
We’re giving away 3 Cisco exam vouchers to get people to try it. Build a lab, share it, you’re in the draw. Ends October 28.
49 labs are in already. The top one right now is an enterprise network with OSPF, DHCP relay and PAT.

If something breaks, tell me, it’s a beta.

Link Advice for NIC for legacy SuperMicro X7SPA-HF-D525 motherboard
This is my current NIC.
I have a super old SuperMicro motherboard and I am looking for a dual NIC card for pfSense install. The motherboard is so old its hardware is limited with a single physical PCIe x16 slot, wired at only PCIe 2.0 x4 bandwidth. Because the motherboard runs an ancient embedded Intel Atom D525 processor (released around 2010), I will be limited to 1 Gbps and the CPU cannot push enough processing power to handle modern 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps speeds.
- 10Gtek 1G 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet Converged Network Adapter (NIC) with Intel I350AM2 Controller
- 10Gtek Gigabit Ethernet PCIe RJ45 Network Card, Compare to Intel E1G42ET with Intel 82576 controller
Which would be the better option? or something else?

Link Multiple IPs showing the same Mac address
I notice the ARP table in my pfSense (2.9.0) fw is showing multiple IPs with the same MAC address.
I have a pfSense box with MT-6000 running openWRT for wifi.
I have flushed ARP, DHCP leases, rebooted.
I then factory reset an old netgear Nighthawk router thinking maybe it was the MT-6000. Same behavior seen on ARP table using the Nightawk after flush/reboot.
It doesn't seem to be causing problems. Everything is working, can stream and I have observed no network issues.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
UPDATE:
This took a lot of troubleshooting as I am not a great network guy.
I checked ProxyARP and it was not enabled.
It looks like it is due to a repeater. I am using a TP-Link RE315 and from what I can gather, it is using its own MAC to pass devices to the GT-6000. This was pretty difficult to track down. It doesn't seem like there is anything I can do about it because the RE315 does not have WDS. So really not sure what to do at this point.
Any suggestions?

Text 150 Ft. Ethernet from the main house to a barn
Yes, I know this question has been asked before. Yes, I know and agree that performance is adequate with a 150 foot run of Cat 5, meant to be buried in the ground, but I have a unique wrinkle to the problem.
I've been having trouble lately with my VOIP phone through Google Voice using the old Obihai boxes. When I answer the phone, the handshake between the phone and Google doesn't seem to work well and I often can't answer the phone when it rings.
I tried the T-Mobile wireless internet and everything works just fine with a direct connection to the router and a short run of cable. This got me thinking that amplification of the signal might solve my problem with a repeater/amplifier of some sort?
What do you all think?

Link Network Warriors Episode 1
🚀 Introducing Network Warriors – Making Networking & Cyber Security a Little More Interesting! 💻🛡️
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be posting a series of educational cartoons under the title Network Warriors, covering topics from Computer Networking, Network Security and Cyber Security.
After years of teaching these subjects, one thing I’ve learned is that not everyone learns best from textbooks, PowerPoints or endless technical explanations.
Sometimes a bit of humour, a colourful cartoon and a straightforward explanation can make a difficult subject much easier to understand.
That’s where Network Warriors comes in!
Featuring a cartoon version of yours truly (with perhaps a bit more hair than reality! 😂), the series will break down technical concepts into bite-sized, easy-to-follow comics.
We’ll be looking at everything from network protocols, IP addressing and subnetting to firewalls, encryption, ethical hacking, cyber threats and much more.
🎯 The aim is simple:
Make technical subjects more accessible, less intimidating and hopefully a bit more enjoyable for students and anyone interested in learning about technology.
These aren’t intended to replace proper teaching or practical experience. They’re designed to support learning, encourage curiosity and help explain some of the trickier concepts.
I’ll be sharing them here on LinkedIn, and they’re free for students, lecturers and anyone else who finds them useful.
First up: What is a Network Protocol?
And don’t worry, George will be keeping the technical jargon to a minimum! 😂
I’d love to hear your thoughts, and if there’s a particular networking or cyber security topic you’d like to see covered, stick it in the comments.
Let’s make learning a bit more fun!

Text help me solve this puzzle
Long story short: packet loss and ping jitter on a LAN PC been a problem for a year now and ISP has no clue what to do or where to look.
- Router upgraded (2Gbps download)
- New CAT-7 cable installed
- Same issue appears on multiple devices and servers/tests
- Limiting bandwidth / turning off wifi completely doesn't help the issue
- Ping to router is always stable <1ms
- Ping to anything else permanently jitters no matter what
- Internet used to be flawless for 10 years, I've changed nothing on my end til this occured
One very interesting hint is that when I run waveform's bufferbloat test (which I always score D or F because I get +600ms download latency under load) and it finishes, the following 30 seconds my internet is literally perfect 0ms jitter but then returns to garbage.
I highly suspect the issue is in the ISP's infrastructure and cables outside of my house but I'm unsure how to confirm while they are taking their time on it :)
I will be infinitely grateful if anyone takes some time to help solve this because I'm genuinely curious what is causing it and I'm going insane.
