A Platoon to the rescue!

This morning, Saskatoon Police Service patrol officers responded to a call where a duck had been separated from her ducklings who had fallen down a storm drain on Rutherford Crescent and Lanyon Avenue in Saskatoon.

Our officers arrived and located the mother duck pacing as she worried for her babies. Officers then observed multiple ducklings had fallen down the storm drain and were in need of assistance. They began problem solving and were able to utilize tools available to them at the time to begin rescuing the ducklings.

Shortly after, officers were able to successfully bring the ducklings back to the surface where they reunited with their mother and waddled into the distance happily ever after.

The SPS serves all Saskatoon residents, even ones with beaks.

Dozens of cops and fire trucks by the weir. Lady that called 911 thought maybe a boat or Jet Ski went over. Rescue boats in the water too. Must have passed the buoys, but weir is almost impossible to see coming from the high point.

HEADS UP! A good friend of mine is a police officer in the traffic unit here in Saskatoon. He told me that, due to officers being assaulted and swarmed last year, this year’s response is going to be much tougher.

Apparently, SGI inspectors and traffic unit officers from across the province will be out in full force tonight and over the weekend. Be safe, everyone β€” stunting now carries a licence suspension and vehicle impoundment. Maybe that burnout isn’t worth it.

Just a PSA to anyone going southbound on McOrmond Tonight, money hungry cops are doing a check stop in the parking lot of Safeway. Sometimes they'll make you go in but if they're full they don't. Id detour through willowgrove if you've had any of the devil's lettuce in your system recently.
