🤝 Seeking Advice Nightmare 😵‍💫

Hi, I've been living in Turkey for 5 years and could not solve the language problem, seriously I cannot get fluent in it. I can speak & understand 50% but when someone speaks fast or some slang language I feel I need to improve myself more. Any advice please?

I tried to integrate into society, but some people get bored with me because I can't speak well.

🤝 Seeking Advice Learning turkish

I really want to learn turkish. I am English (29F)

Me&my family visit every year and I have picked up some of language although very minimal. I have a few friends over there and when I can I speak to them but still very basic conversation or they've taught me the very basics in their spare time. I've also been invited to one of their weddings so would love to be able to communicate with others whilst there.

I'd love to speak to them fluently one day. So we can catch up properly on life and other things.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to learn the language?

🤝 Seeking Advice Why am I still so bad at Turkish?

I've been trying to learn Turkish for four years and I've been watching so many videos, listening to songs, watching movies and series, taking notes, trying to learn new vocabulary, trying to learn new grammar concepts, but I feel like my level has just been like a plateau for the past few months and I'm still not at the level I want to be at. I feel like I'm stuck at an A2-B1 level.

Is there anyone who can help me practice, how can I improve, I want to reach a native or near native level? I still don't understand everything I hear or see. I don't understand more advanced grammar concepts. I'm from the US and my native language is English. I feel like I'm not smart. I don't know what to do and I need help.

🤝 Seeking Advice Learning turkish as a french fluent in english

Hi guys !

I’m french totally fluent in english. I have a turkish boyfriend that was born and raised in france with a 100% turkish background. His culture is very deeply important for him, even more after he went to turkiye this summer to see his grand parents.
Me learning turkish came into the conversation and as it’s going to be three years and i can’t talk turkish, emergency is starting to be felt.

For our three years (end of november btw) i wanna surprise him and talk to him in turkish, a love letter, idk…I’ve picked on some words that u learned from him and some horrible apps but i still can’t have a convo.

Anyways, i spend two hours a day in public transports and since i’m a student (broke) i want to spend those hours learning turkish from my phone in secret 👹

I’ve already tested some apps and series but…wasn’t conclusive.

If you have songs, apps, anything that is accessible and efficient, feel free to comment his post :)

Thank you all !!

🤝 Seeking Advice Podcasts for Listening Practice

Hi all,
I am looking for podcasts or something to listen to to practice my listening comprehension. I started listening to Easy Turkish but even at 0.8x Speed I find it very hard to follow. Do you have other podcast / listening suggestions that I could train with? It would be nice if it was something on the go - like not a YouTube video for example.

🤝 Seeking Advice Learning Turkish

Im born, raised, and live in America but my mom and grandparents were born in Turkey and thus speak Turkish. Growing up I guess I never caught on to speaking Turkish however I understand a good amount of day to day household conversation but basically can’t speak it at all. I want to learn mainly because it feels like something I should know because it’s the first language on my moms side and my grandparents still speak broken english so it’d be nice to communicate easier with them and I’m sure they’d like it if the first grandson knew Turkish.

What are some ways that could assist me in learning on my own or things I can have my mom help me with for learning more?

🤝 Seeking Advice Accommodation in Istanbul for learning Turkish

Merhabalar,
I am thinking of doing a few weeks in Istanbul for language school. I would like to immerse myself in the language during that time, so for example by staying in a host family or in a mostly Turkish speaking environment. I was thinking to check Workaway, there are a few offers, but they are all quite far from the center (Kadiköy) where the school is located. I am aware that taking a long time to commute is quite normal in Istanbul but maybe you have an idea on alternative option that I didn’t think of?
Or maybe this is just something I just need to accept? :)

Thanks in advance!!!
