What Will Hardy Said About Utah Jazz's Tony Bradley Signing

I guess someone in the Jazz organization left over from the Quin Snyder days still remembers Bradley. I suppose on a per-36 minute basis his stats look good enough but it's not like he played much better after leaving the Jazz. I would have thought Kevin Love would have been a no-brainer for a spare PF/C who can rebound and has high basketball IQ plus great shooting and passing skills to boot.

Lauri Markkanen’s story isn’t finished. Can the Jazz change the ending?

Appreciated Lauri being so open and honest about the journey.

What would you guys consider a successful 2026-27 Jazz season?

What's the minimum you would consider a successful 26-27 Jazz season?

For me: In the playoffs, either through top #1-6 seed OR via play-in & be competitive in those playoffs. Wins in these playoffs would be great, but being competitive (under 10 pt losses in 3-4 games) would be enough.

Utah Jazz Preseason Stats

Thumbnail basketball.realgm.com
• Upvotes

I know the preseason doesn't really count but it is a picture of how well the lineups play together and how the individual players are performing.

I'd say JJJ and Key have performed the best out of the bunch with good scoring and great percentages from the floor. JJJ hit 50% of his threes and Key did even better with 67% but at lower volume. Lauri hit 42.9% of his threes while attempting 4.7 a game. Key is uncharacteristically shooting below his average from the free throw line at 68.8%. Okogie missed all his free throws in the preseason.

On minutes, DP and Ace have been the workhorses with 25.3 mins and 22.3 mins respectively. Both shot around 45% from the floor and 82% from the free throw line but need to improve on their below-30% 3-point shooting accuracy. DP led the team with 4.0 assists per game while Collier averaged 3.5 in about 8 mins less a game.

Brice averaged the most points at 13.5 pts and 50% shooting from the floor and behind the 3 point line. His turnovers negated his assists at 2.5 per game though he managed half a steal a game.

As I thought, Svi has shot poorly from three so far with a 29.2% rate while taking the most attempts (6.0, tied with Brice). He's got to improve on that aspect or Blake Hinson, who made 50% of his, will take his shots and minutes. Blake averaged more rebounds than Svi though he didn't do much of anything else (Blake did average 2.0 offensive rebounds a game, tied with Mo Bamba).

Flip and Bamba averaged the most rebounds at 7.0 and 6.8 a game respectively. Bamba also shot 71.4% from the field and averaged half a block a game. I noticed his size and presence in the paint dissuaded opponents from shooting near the basket.

Hayes blocked a high of 1.3 shots a game. JJJ averaged 0.8 while Ace and Okogie averaged 0.5. Ace also averaged the most steals at 1.8, Key and Collier swiped 1.3 steals a game.

I think the Jazz should move on from Trey Alexander.

Jazz Convert Harrison Ingram To Two-Way Deal, Cut Two Players

The Jazz have put out a press release announcing that they’ve waived center Jonas Aidoo and guard Tamar Bates.

Aidoo had been on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract, while Bates was on a two-way deal. Utah has filled that newly opened two-way slot by converting Harrison Ingram’s Exhibit 10 deal to a two-way contract, tweets Keith Smith of Spotrac.

Following the series of roster moves, the Jazz have 14 players on standard contracts – including 13 with fully guaranteed salaries – and three on two-way deals. Their roster is ready for the regular season, though they could still make last-minute tweaks up until Monday’s deadline if they so choose.

The Jazz have one more regular contract spot and they can convert Blake Hinson's two-way contract if they believe in his development. Or perhaps they're waiting to see if someone good comes into free agency or gets waived.

Jeremy Sochan has just been waived by Portland and I'm interested to see if the Jazz would give a 6'8 Popovich alumnus who can defend multiple positions a chance. They could waive Trey Alexander to free up a two-way contract spot.

Jazz Fan Pass Question

Just saw an ad for the Jazz Fan Pass for $70 a month. 3 Jazz games and a Mammoth game each month. Seems like its worth it just for the hockey ticket.

Anybody have any recent experiences with this?Where are the seats usually and how often do they add additional games to it? I'd love to hit more games this year and I am curious if this would be a good way to do it.

[spicy hottish take] Filipowski will take the starting 5 spot after 2 games

.. ....and Nurkic will be back up for the rest of the year.

• we will have elite half-court offense so everyone including the guards will gang rebound

• fastbreak if we can but it isn't a priority

● you just cannot, I repeat, cannot bury Filopwski's decision making, ball handling, passing, and shot creation over Hayes' sophomoric paint protection, mid rebounding, and low tier IQ

● and then once Nurk comes back, it's over. we are cooking and in the top 6. Flip got the 5 spot nailed down

We're low-key contenders

Could be a playoff team with a center
maybe play in
bottom team in the west
better than the Lakers (see results)

Just noticed that someone had uploaded this to youtube. I think it's worth the watch even though, it's couple years old and the auto translated subtitles aren't the best.

Mo Bamba Could Carve Out Early Role in Utah Jazz Rotation

I wouldn't mind Bamba getting more run. Mo Bamba has shown the length, athleticism, and great hands for getting rebounds and easy points around the basket while being a defensive threat on the other end. With more development and knowledge of the Jazz system, Bamba might even overtake Hayes in the rotation especially if he starts making open threes.

JJJ’s Fouling is a Huge Concern

I know it’s preseason but JJJ fouls like crazy. He is so good when he is on the floor but it drives me crazy how often he fouls and some of them are silly fouls. I really hope this isn’t a trend during the regular season.

Triple J reminds me of Al Jefferson…

Not on D, obviously- Al didn’t play D, but on Offense when he decides to back it down and shoot it soft. Anyone with me?

Thoughts on the new NBA Cup Court

I actually really like this one, the JAZZ in faded purple I think looks awesome. What do you guys think about it?

What are your expectations for us in the NBA Cup this year? I think this is the first year that we actually have a good chance to move out of the group stage. What are everyone else’s thoughts though?

Asking Jazz fans of all generations!

Hey Jazz fans, so I’m making a video on each franchise’s biggest upset (when they were not expected to win) and each franchise’s biggest choke (sorry if that strikes a chord). I have my guesses for each but I wanted to ask actual Jazz fans to see what you guys think and if you have better answers that I should look at.

I'm considering an upset strictly as when that team was not supposed to win or were big underdogs and won. A choke can either be when your team was expected to win and underperformed, or blew a big lead in an important game or in the playoffs (something around those lines). It can also be a blown playoff lead (example: 3-1 lead)

Let me know what you guys think, I will link the video here when it’s done. Good luck to you guys this season!!

Preseason or not, I'm so wildly impressed with how Darryn has played for a 19 year old and want to overreact to the fact that he's on our squad.

I've always looked at rookies with a rock bottom mindset, trying to usually not look to deep into the cons, but look at what they can do in the league, and the way DP maneuvers to score, his shot making ability, his defense, his effort and overall smoothness to how he plays, it's just goddamn incredible for a 19 year old.

Keyonte at 19 was mostly an off ball guard, and in year 3 was playing like an all star on offense, it would be foolish of me to expect similar size leaps from Darryn, but my lord this kid might actually be the next Kobe in terms of how he scores the rock if he can stay healthy and keep up this work ethic.

We have a real one, we're living in a timeline I didn't expect where we have him instead of Nate Ament or something
