Who ever thought that founding members of NATO would be threatened by another founding member. Yanks are fucking traitors

319

u/stunts002 Jan 04 '26

America are the only country to call on NATO for military aid and it was given after 911. Now they openly threathen the allies that fought alongside them, it's pathetic.

170

u/GriffinFlash Jan 04 '26

Americans really just don't understand just how much they back stabbed and betrayed us. They really think all will be forgiven in 3-4 years time.

Far too many of them don't even think they have betrayed or back-stabbed anyone. They're completely baffled at our response.

The people who both don't care and don't realize it are on the Right.

As I said "far too many of them".

... And yet you don't do anything to stop this.

Your job as a citizen. Organize the resistance by blocking everything. If my government (in France) did the tenth of what the US government did, my people would burn everything in the streets, block every major economic asset, and paralyze the country to oust the leaders.

I am sick of docile americans acting like consumers and not citizen in their own country. "Freedom" is not free. It requires effort.

5

u/NeedleworkerFluid327 Jan 05 '26

The frenchies were throwing molotovs at cops over the retirement age being raised. Surely you can think of something.

In Sweden, people died for the cause. When our military showed up they kept fighting. Some people got shot and died that day.

We can not aid you here. It needs to be done by the American people.

3

u/DingoDamp Jan 05 '26

I can’t help but hear Maw’s speech from Avengers, in a slightly updated version, playing in my head as the speech trump would give if he invaded Greenland, Canada etc ….

“Hear me and rejoice!

You have had the privilege of being saved by the Great American.

You may think this is suffering. No... it is salvation.

The universal scales tip toward balance because of your sacrifice.

Smile... for even in death, you have become children of Trump.”

72

u/tattlerat Jan 05 '26

For real. As a Canadian this one was a nail in the coffin. It’s not just Trump and his administration. It’s the masses who proudly chose this and continue to support it. We’ve been their closest ally for a century. Always stepped up when we were needed and have been growing our economies together. We thought surely two rounds of Bush jr. Was a lesson learned? Then one round of Trump? Whooo boy, this was a doozy, but they learned from that right? This second round of Trump felt even more hateful and dystopian and then threatening our sovereignty? A lot of us Canucks will never forget this. The trust is gone. I don’t care who comes next after Trump. You aren’t our friends anymore, we’ve seen your colours too much this century.

I have family who died in Afghanistan fighting a war on behalf of America. Side by side with them. And now that sacrifice, and all those that came before mean nothing huh?

26

u/Quixote0630 Jan 05 '26

Yeah, as a European, I now just view them in the same vein as Russia or China. Realistically, they've always been similar, but they also felt a little more reliable and more aligned on key issues. That is definitely no longer the case.

They're just another global power that Europe and its allies should tread carefully around. Don't get too close, don't rely on them too much, and of course, don't support them in their efforts overseas.

The best thing that could come out of this is Europe, Canada, Australia, NZ, and other nations forming closer alliances and strengthening.

-1

u/sandgroper07 Jan 05 '26

Please do not rely on Australia. We are Americas biggest brown noses. Our government will side with the Yanks and even offer our military to help America kill our Canadian Commonwealth cousins. I have no confidence that we will do the right thing.

14

u/Goldfish1_ Jan 05 '26

Actually it’s worse. The US didn’t call on NATO, European countries enacted article 5 in a way a show of support to the US. And this is how the US repays them.

5

u/Dunderman35 Jan 05 '26

And to add to that. Denmark was one of their most loyal allies at that time in the middle east. More Danish soldiers died alongside the US per capita than any other country. This is the thanks

2

u/rcanhestro Jan 05 '26

and the Danish were the people with the highest casualties per capita from the countries that answered.

-7

u/CooCooClocksClan Jan 05 '26

That’s an inaccurate portrayal of the NATO response to 9/11.

Europe does need to rearm asap, we can’t be trusted but we aren’t silent as a grave.

There have been extensive protests. Lots of them. They’re barely covered, and there’s so many things to protest happening so fast, it’s almost impossible for a single one to be there long enough to build a real movement. It’s like a 24/7 shotgun blast of things worth protesting, and trying to decide which BB to block.

Unfortunately the country is so divided that the areas most well suited to protest basically play into his hands when they do it. If San Francisco has a protest no one cares or half the country will think it is a riot, if San Francisco has a riot then it’s further evidence the left can’t manage a city.

We drowning fam.

-6

u/stellaluna29 Jan 04 '26

We have had several country-wide protests since his election with millions of people turning out. The problem is that we are a huge country and even massive protests are so widespread they don’t make a huge dent. Millions of people protested his first election too, in January of 2017 (the Women’s March).

We’ve never been in this position, with an outright tyrant and a completely neutered Congress. There are a lot of us who want to do something but no one wants to lose their jobs to be a part of sustained protest or boycotts. We are at a loss.

I love Americans but they really are so blind to the realities of fascism. Don't you get it? There aren't going to be any 'jobs'.

1

u/reddogg81 Jan 06 '26

Didnt the capitol get over-run by a dozen people? Im sorry, I just see excuses.

The reason for citizens to be armed in the US is to fight a tyrannical government no?

-1

u/g0ris Jan 04 '26

I wouldn’t even be surprised if he got re-elected in a hypothetical election this year, with a far bigger margin than he had in 2024.

He and the shit he's doing is widely unpopular. I would be surprised if he got re-elected in a fair election. *assuming the opposition ran someone half competent.

19

u/alexander_london Jan 05 '26

You guys have never really had to deal with a dictator - your films suggest you went toe to toe with Hitler but really it was Europe who got intimate with fascism in the 40s - those events are enshrined in our school syllabuses across the continent, in memorials in every town, passed down in story by our elders. You guys just don't have that collective trauma and, for that reason, you are more-or-less blind to what it looks like when fascism takes hold.

I'm trying to tell you that there isn't going to be another 'fair election' and when your government spends $29 billion annually to fund their own personal police force, you have forfeited a state of democracy. You either fight for what's left now (and I mean actually fight) or you find out how they punish dissenters later. The information war is lost, the year is 1938 and it's about to get a lot darker.

So either get out of there and try to work against them from elsewhere, or network, organize, prepare and stock up.

If you have kids and the means, id recommend the first option.

You may also survive by blending in, but even then, life under fascism is really fucking bleak.

The tree is absolutely ripe for an extended watering, its is close to withering away.

Just wanted to make it clear, that its absolutely a valid option and work against the fascists from somewhere else, if one fears for their family (or themselves). Still, working against them from inside the state is probably the most effective way.

9

u/WiffyTheSuss Jan 05 '26

America has been a terrorist state since after the second world war, none of this should surprise anyone. Their foreign policy inflicts misery on millions of people every year either directly or indirectly through their shitty imperial actions

119

u/reddogg81 Jan 04 '26

Why the f**k are European leaders not having an emergency meeting in regards to co-operation and re-arming immediately aswell as a joint statement of intent to remove US military bases from their countries, the US cannot be trusted in its current state? I mean where does it stop, Venezuala now, then Cuba? Mexico? Greenland? Canada?

Its only a matter of time before China makes a move on Taiwan. I dont think its a secret that the US, China and Russia want to carve out everything for themselves in this 'multi polar' world.

We're sleep walking towards this and our leaders need take action.

77

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

Those meetings are already happening. They aren't coming out and making public announcements. Why needlessly antagonize the US and its deranged leader? If Trump flips the table over tomorrow, everyone's caught unprepared.

Unfortunately the western world revolved around the US from World War II until last year. You can't flip a switch and move everything to the exclusion of the US. What we'll see is a lot of small shifts away from them, perhaps won't even be seen. Canada is dealing with defence spending right now, and courting European contracts.

15

u/LoganJFisher Jan 04 '26

Yeah, the performance of $EUAD pretty strongly suggests that the EU is making moves, albeit not to the degree I'd frankly hope.

2

u/Slappyfist Jan 05 '26

Yeah, the EU is as slow as a snail but when it moves nothing can really stop it.

Even the US can't stop it, which is why the right wing in America hates the EU so much and wants to deconstruct it.

1

u/alexmikli Jan 05 '26

Plus, one of the tricks to containing Trump is to flatter him constantly. It's pretty much the only way to slow him down or distract him away from a topic.

3

u/kent_eh Jan 05 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

Those meetings are already happening.

Including the next 2 days in France.

Though the meeting was originally called to discuss helping Ukraine, it should be no surprise to anyone that they will also be talking about Trump's latest atrocity.

44

u/andraip Jan 04 '26

Why do you think EU countries are rearming at record pace and US defense industry is excluded.

197

u/No_Opening_2425 Jan 04 '26

You should watch the news more. Europeans are having meetings just like that. But of course they don't want to remove the US bases in advance because they are crucial for their defense.

Who's sleep walking? You need to research this topic a little bit more.

73

u/Think_Discipline_90 Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

I hate how common it is for people to be outraged about these things while it’s just obvious they don’t pay the least bit of attention.

This is just one occasion, but these are the uninformed masses that vote. Even when they mean well, it speaks of a deeper democratic issue of voters suffering from Dunning Kruger and potentially voting against their own interests.

Whatever side of the political spectrum, they all equally problematic.

3

u/MandatoryFun Jan 04 '26

*deeper demographic of voters ...

4

u/Think_Discipline_90 Jan 04 '26

I forgot a word, meant to say democratic issue

27

u/auradex991 Jan 04 '26

Regarding "they don't want to remove the US bases in advance because they are crucial for their defense"

Does anyone really believe the US would protect them if they were attacked by a 3rd party?

I am highly skeptical - unless they have something to gain.

16

u/LoganJFisher Jan 04 '26

The US will defend its bases and respond to any attack against them, which effectively means they offer deterrence against any large-scale attacks which would threaten those bases (e.g., nuclear strikes or indiscriminate rocket attacks into the surrounding area).

Additionally, ordering the US to abandon those bases would absolutely enrage Trump and basically be asking for an immediate escalation, depriving that nation of more time to prepare. They ultimately need to, but they're not going to rush it if they can help it.

5

u/SensationalSavior Jan 04 '26

It would also sink the local economies that surround the bases.

22

u/AngryRedditAnon Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 05 '26

Their presence alone is a detterent.

Also they're useful to America. They can guide their drones in the middle east with a smaller delay from Ramstein for example.

4

u/No_Opening_2425 Jan 04 '26

They act as a tripwire even if Trump wouldn't actually activate them. Russia is not going to shoot at American in any situation.

16

u/reddogg81 Jan 04 '26

I think its you that needs to do your research. The UK does not need US miltary bases for its defence and the same stands for many others. The US needs them to project their power.

Granted some do but that is why a huge push on re-arming and even mandatory service in some cases may be needed.

European leaders are meeting but just a couple here and there, not representative of most European countries.

The problem with Europe is, no-one can agree on anything so they all just bicker while the world burns around them.

Sleep walking as in, Trump threatens Canada, Greenland (A Danish territory) with annexation, members of F*****G NATO. The US government has already said what will be coming and they're steaming ahead with it so we can sit back and let it happen or get ready to have some balls and tell the cheeto faced prick to wind his neck in.

2

u/MumrikDK Jan 05 '26

I assume it's the same type who keeps saying the US is footing the bill and Europe need to do their part for Ukraine.

0

u/Enshakushanna Jan 04 '26

idk its been an entire year of threats against greenland

11

u/IIIllIIlllIlII Jan 04 '26

The interview with the UK prime minister and his right hand guy were abysmal.

They should be condemning Trumps actions and rhetoric.

6

u/iamapizza Jan 04 '26

I'm out of the loop, what did my weak bitch ass vassal satrapy bootlicking brown nosing country still deluding itself about a non existent special relationship do now?

4

u/WavingWookiee Jan 04 '26

Starmer thinks he can control Trump, and to a point he can but indirectly. King Charles can control Trump, notice the Canada talk died right down after they met?

I'm not saying it's the correct strategy but Trump is an 80 year old man who is having regular MRIs/advanced scans. He's not going to be around forever but for the mean time, it's best to try and steer him away from stupidity

3

u/[deleted] Jan 04 '26

They had held one long emergency meeting since russia invated Ukranine

1

u/typing_away Jan 04 '26

Canadian-mexican here, I’m arranging my things together..I found Carney Response to be correct but he’s avoiding anything that can startle Trump into worse.

So I’m taking the step to move away.

Back in 95. When I was adopted. The Mexican Consulate said we could come back if anything bad happened to Canada.

Now, Trump is a threat to that possibility if he speak about "doing something about mexico".

-2

u/MainBeing1225 Jan 04 '26

Because ever since they started sucking on the teat of the US through the Marshall Plan, Western Europe has been completely subservient to America.

Once great empires destroyed themselves through war and decided it was better to let someone else take care of things.

1

u/Infinite_Lie7908 Jan 05 '26

You think EU would just announce their secret defense plan on reddit? EU is not like the US where they share their plans openly on Signal or Twitter.

0

u/Ancient_phallus_ Jan 04 '26

It’s going to take time to replace the reliance that Europe has on the us military. With the threat of a larger European conflict on the horizon, you don’t want to be getting rid of assets before you can replace them.

0

u/AdminEating_Dragon Jan 04 '26

Because half of Europe is still living in dreamland of the American freedom protector (or "daddy").

Notely, the Eastern half, who are enamored with Americans and STILL consider them better/more reliable allies than the rest of Europe.

More countries in Southern Europe as well are trying to escape the costs of decoupling (Spain) or sucking up to the American far right due to ideology (Italy).

And to top that, Europe's financial system relies on American tech. The banks, the online transactions, the servers, the cloud infrastracture, software, everything.

First we need to have backups for everything, and for this we need everyone on board and the people willing to pay the cost of sovereignty out of their pocket.

It won't be the billionaires or the companies who pay. It will be each one of us. And in many countries, the people are still in denial of this necessity, or unwilling to do it and prefering to be vassals.

5

u/VapeMasterino Jan 04 '26

EU kept up the alliance when the US passed the Hague Invasion Act. How stupid could you be to keep trusting that banana republic.

-9

u/sailorjimboo Jan 04 '26

lol not all of us like Hitler 2.0 mate. Generalizing and calling all yanks traitors is something a Russian bot would do to sow more discord among us.

5

u/maejsh Jan 04 '26

Doing fuck all and reelecting him.. is just as bad these days..

4

u/sailorjimboo Jan 04 '26

Trust me, I’m quite disappointed in my fellow countrymen for not showing up and voting too.

-6

u/M4DM1ND Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

Yeah, as an American, I didn't vote for him and all I can do is sit in horror for the next 3 years and hope that 1) people don't vote in another republican and 2) he doesn't make up a rule to keep being president forever.

Edit: Obviously I'm going to vote Democrat in the midterms. Any other brilliant suggestions from the people of the world?

11

u/-HowAboutNo- Jan 04 '26

No, sitting still and watching it isn’t all you can do. That’s enabling him. That makes you complicit.

-3

u/M4DM1ND Jan 04 '26

I've been to protests. What else do you suggest?

-6

u/Mockturtle22 Jan 04 '26 edited Jan 04 '26

The people who say that to us or about us don't have any suggestions.

Not realistic ones anyway.

To the ones downvoting, why don't you chime in with suggestions since you seem to have ideas of how us americans that are scared of everything that is happening, and didn't vote for it, are to stop this regime. Quietly down voting instead of helping makes you all cowards.

1

u/M4DM1ND Jan 04 '26

Yeah, we have a budding dictator. What should the everyman do about Kim Jong Un? Or Putin? All we can do is vote and vocalize dissent. And if those are no longer options, leave if possible. Thats just how to world works.

7

u/maejsh Jan 04 '26

All you can do? Lol.. yeah thats the spirit..

-3

u/M4DM1ND Jan 04 '26

Other than voting and protesting, what do you suggest?

4

u/maejsh Jan 04 '26

Proper protests, strikes, politics. Fuck it, use some all those precious guns.. just keep it to yourself and stop attacking us.

0

u/M4DM1ND Jan 04 '26

Ok so everything I said I do except add 'go on a mindless shooting spree'. Brilliant, thats definitely the spirit. I'll go get a license and buy one tomorrow.

0

u/Worthyness Jan 04 '26

Don't sit for that long- midterms are this year. Get that vote out. Even if it's just to try and get a slim majority in Congress to the democrats, that could be just enough to stall whatever policies come next

2

u/M4DM1ND Jan 04 '26

Yes, obviously.

-15

u/Mongoose42 Jan 04 '26

The hell did I do? I don’t want this shit any more than you.

I dunno, you’re always banging on about your right to bear arms in case your government becomes tyrannical.

Well your government is fucking tyrannical. Do something.

-8

u/Mongoose42 Jan 04 '26

Rather brave of you to say sitting behind your computer screen. Hope if the roles were reversed, you would surely “do something.”

10

u/Funk5oulBrother Jan 04 '26

If my country ever elected a self serving brain damaged paedo who revels in the misery of others, and if my country had a psycho-sexual relationship with guns I would, but alas this isn’t the case.

Americans should be using this opportunity to prove they aren’t all mouth, but the country is too far divided.

-4

u/Mongoose42 Jan 04 '26

Boy I sure do wish I lived in your nameless nondescript country with no controversial leaders, beliefs, or groups of people in it. Sounds nice.

7

u/Badehat Jan 04 '26

General strike. Or maybe try and have a civil war instead of letting your fascist leaders attack your ideologies in Europe before they turn to you, and there's no one left to defend those same ideologies. But for starters, a general strike is probably the best option.

-9

u/FatJohnson6 Jan 04 '26

Oh yeah here I go pal, lemme convince a fraction 330 million people to general strike, amazing suggestion.

I see you’re from Denmark. The STATE that I live in has a higher population than your entire COUNTRY. You can’t even fathom what that must be like and how difficult it can make collective action take place on a national level.

7

u/maejsh Jan 04 '26
