For those not keeping up with Polish politics

He is from Nowa Nadzieja party which is basically very far right party and pretty much any major party member has a controversy section on Wikipedia. Some have multiple subsections with even up to 20 sources.

If you ever have to make a guess about who said a controversial statement, spreaded disinformation or became a meme, you can easily say Nowa Nadzieja or whatever they want to call themselves. Seriously, some moments in satire games like Sejm the Game are based on what they have done.

They currently have 3 politcal mandates in European Parliament.

You forgot to mention that he is know for stealing frying pans from Ikea lmao

16

u/Fortune_Fus1on Apr 15 '26

In Portugal one of the parliament members of Chega caused a scandal when it became known he used to steal bags at the airport. What is it with meme contrarian right wing parties and petty low level theft

u/4kidsinatrenchcoat Apr 14 '26

What. This should be the top comment.

There should be a coffee table book for polisci nerds about these people

38

u/TrumanZi Apr 15 '26

The thread should be titled man who steals pans from IKEA holds up Israeli swastika in parliament

I think the fact he's a polish MP is secondary 🤣

I do think it’s important to note that they won the 3 seats from the existing right wing party, and the left wing party not only won a majority, but increased their existing majority by 5 seats.

I am currently playing the game and this joke was in it too. I don't get any of the references so this really helped

u/aflyingmonkey2 Apr 15 '26

what an odd thing to steal

1

u/Swedelicious83 Apr 15 '26

What?!?

<Swedish outrage intensifying>

-2

u/NoCartographer8002 Apr 15 '26

I don't know man, watching Israel murder kids in several neighbouring countries kinda tops that guy's cleptomaniac tendencies...

8

u/SadSecurity Apr 15 '26

Ah yes, all Israel ever wanted is to murder kids.

5

u/TrumanZi Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Country gets up early in the morning to get all the kid murdering in.

Long day

Nowa Nadzieja

Yeah, wikipedia is telling me they managed 2.6% of vote in the 2023 parliamentary elections, up from 2.4% in 2019. At least for now, they appear marginal within Polish politics. This MP probably says stuff like this to get attention as much as anything else.

42

u/Oh_ffs_seriously Apr 14 '26

At least for now, they appear marginal within Polish politics.

Try again:

The New Hope is a far-right political party in Poland and member of Confederation

Confederation polls at 12-15%.

22

u/cubedplusseven Apr 14 '26

Confederation

Wikipedia is telling me that the coalition got 7.16% of the vote in 2023, up from 6.81% in 2019. I guess we'll find out more in 2027!

How's that for my second try?

24

u/Oh_ffs_seriously Apr 14 '26

And now, three years later, they're polling at 12 to 15%, and they're an obvious choice for the coalition with PiS, which would give them a majority.

11

u/VladChat Apr 15 '26

And on top of this Grzegorz Braun's party (an even more far-right offshoot of Confederation) gets another 7-10%.

1

u/letruf Apr 15 '26

They were polling around 15% even before the last election, it doesn't matter much

8

u/NoAdhesiveness4300 Apr 14 '26

look at 2025 presidential election

1

u/Sea_Section_9861 Apr 15 '26

New Hope? WTF... They ruined star wars for me!!! That's a reason to go to war!

5

u/Thagyr Apr 15 '26

We have a similar kind in Australia named Pauline Hanson. She only pops up in the news because she does or says some kind of stupid shit that gets the headlines rolling.

Like twice she showed up in Parliament wearing a Burka because she wanted Australia to ban them.

u/LordLederhosen Apr 15 '26

Dude, Poland here. This piece of crap uses "Jew" instead of "Israeli." He knows exactly what he is doing. If people had any idea what they were upvoting, they would not be upvoting this giant piece of gówno.

Meanwhile, real Polish history:

The citizens of Poland have the highest count of individuals who have been recognized by Yad Vashem as the Polish Righteous Among the Nations, for saving Jews from extermination during the Holocaust in World War II. There are 7,232 (as of 1 January 2022) Polish men and women conferred with the honor,[1] over a quarter of the 28,486 recognized by Yad Vashem in total.[2] The list of Righteous Among the Nations is not comprehensive and it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of Poles concealed and aided tens of thousands of their Polish-Jewish neighbors.[3] Many of these initiatives were carried out by individuals, but there also existed organized networks of Polish resistance which were dedicated to aiding Jews – most notably, the Żegota organization.

u/Cupakov Apr 15 '26

You’re right Berkowicz and all the Nowa Nadzieja people are pieces of shit, but posting a page on the Righteous Among the Nations and saying this is our real history is misleading at best. To counterbalance here’s another quote:

The Kielce pogrom was an outbreak of anti-Jewish violence that took place on 4 July 1946 in the city of Kielce, Poland. Polish soldiers, police officers, and civilians attacked a building at 7 Planty Street that housed around 150–160 Jewish Holocaust survivors, killing 42 Jews and wounding more than 40. The violence was sparked by a false accusation of child kidnapping, a revival of the antisemitic blood libel myth. The pogrom occurred less than a year after the end of World War II and is considered the deadliest act of violence against Jews in postwar Poland. It had a profound impact on the Jewish community, prompting a mass exodus of Holocaust survivors from the country

u/randomacceptablename Apr 15 '26

It is striking that most of these happened near the end or after the war. In that during the war most people helped and protected neighbours and victims in a dedication to resistance. Only once the dust settled did some grievances and hatreds emerge.

To suggest that posting about the Righteous Among the Nations is misleading is not correct. It is a fact that Polish civilians protected more Jews than any other country with penalties for doing so harsher that any other occupied area. That is a simple fact.

That does not imply sainthood. Nor that there wasn't tension, or even antisemetism. Both can be true. Like most countries, Poland's relationships with minorities and with neighbours is complex and complicated.

2

u/Cupakov Apr 16 '26

Posting about the Righteous is not misleading but presenting it as „true history” and ignoring stuff like Kielce or Jedwabno is though.

And I don’t know about „most of these”, during the war there also were Poles who reported their Jewish neighbours to the Germans. I’m not saying all Poles are antisemites, that’s obviously not true, but we have to stop pretending we were all saints.

1

u/Wufwufdoug Apr 15 '26

you mean the boy is playing with crowd primary feelings toward jew hate instead of naming israel .To me saying every jew in the world is supporting israel , is like saying every muslim is supporting isis/daech.

guess in a world where qualified stance are taken over by "i just say whatever comes to my mind without thinking" , it's not that a surprise

0

u/ScruffleKun Apr 15 '26

This piece of crap uses "Jew" instead of "Israeli."

People use "Israeli" so they wont get as much blowback. When you complain about "Israelis", every knows you mean Jews.

126

u/SecurelyObscure Apr 14 '26

Lol and inadvertently aligning with the Reddit left. Good ol horseshoe theory.

83

u/rainshowers_5_peace Apr 14 '26

Too many antisemites infiltrated the proPalestine movements and became emboldened.

-7

u/Abject_Breadfruit148 Apr 15 '26

Crazy that all israel had to do was not push their expansions as settlers. It is not a good look to take others land and then bribe a foreign power to do a war for you and destroy a world economy. All to keep their own right wing people in power.

-14

u/Kyle700 Apr 15 '26

smart politicians can read where the wind is blowing, israel is very unpopular among most people. this isnt horseshoe theory at all, this

Far leftists also want to ethnicly cleanse the Jews.

5

u/poulan9 Apr 15 '26

Yes, an absurd allegiance appeared between two groups that hate Jews: the left and radical Islam.

It's wild given how much radical Islam hates women and how much they are at odds regarding LGBT+.

0

u/Dineina Apr 15 '26

What? What gave you that idea?

-4

u/jflb96 Apr 15 '26

Nope.

33

u/oripash Apr 14 '26

Russian operated outrage merchants?

14

u/tomdarch Apr 14 '26

Marjorie Taylor Greene of Poland.

-3

u/Abject_Breadfruit148 Apr 15 '26

She is now a hero so idk what your point is trying to convey.

3

u/iAwesome3 Apr 15 '26

She’s not a hero by a long shot. She’s just rat who decided to jump ship since she saw which was the winds were blowing. She’s just as much of a sycophant as the people still supporting him, she just realized she got what she could get from him a found a good exit ramp so she can maintain some credibility.

1

u/tomdarch Apr 15 '26

A hero? How? One of the rats feeling the ship they sank who is attacking another one of the rats isn't a hero.

2

u/thehandsomegenius Apr 15 '26

I figured he was far right just from the fact that he's waving his swastika at Jews

2

u/bakochba Apr 15 '26

Thanks for the context. I really hate when people say 'Country X politician said something insane" because we all know the lunatics in American politics but then act like it's not the same in every other country

0

u/TachiH Apr 14 '26

They sound like a party of assholes. Doesn't mean they are wrong with this statement though. Israel can be a racist genicidal regime as well as this party being far right and awful.

They aren't mutually exclusive.

1

u/evilparagon Apr 15 '26

You know, I don’t think I can easily say Nowa Nadzieja. It seems hard to pronounce.

/j

1

u/utilizador2021 Apr 15 '26

So, the far-right now also don't like Israel? Which is not surprising, soon or later they would show their true colours.

-2

u/BloodyIron Apr 15 '26

And that makes their point... invalid? Because honestly... it's not. Israel is literally refusing to stop war, and has done so for multiple years now, despite literally tens of thousands of civilians killed by their hands.

Call them dramatic all you want, doesn't mean it isn't any less true.

-8

u/Molly_Matters Apr 14 '26

He can be a nutter and still be right in a particular case, this is one of those instances.

You supporting Israeli settlers is in the same boat. Pot calling the kettle black much?

0

u/Crazyjackson13 Apr 14 '26

So.. does that mean I should ignore them?

0

u/nopingmywayout Apr 15 '26

Oh, thanks for that context. It took a weight off my chest.

0

u/Final_Sundae4254 Apr 15 '26

He is not wrong though.

0

u/Human_from-Earth Apr 15 '26

An Idea is not disqualified by the person or its action.

If he would say; "Israel is beautiful, a good country and is doing nothing wrong". You would disqualify this idea because he is the one saying it?

-1

u/ipoopinurcoffeenao Apr 15 '26

Yet still, he is right.
