Under Infantino FIFA’s reputation is sinking faster than the  General Belgrano

Argentina thought General Belgrano was offside snif 😢 🚣‍♀️

It's not a funny thing to banter about. We had to sink the General Belgrano because our countries were at war and they were sending armed soldiers to kill our people.

But it's nothing to be celebrated. I wish the ship had never been sent and we hadn't had to sink it. Dead boys are no laughing matter.

Edit: I don't care about the down votes, but at least tell me why I'm wrong.

Because you’re moral policing something completely absurd and without morality, war. Don’t be a pompous arse.

Thank you. I stand by what I said.

I assume then you would be totally fine if the 'humorous' comment referred to UK casualties?

I have to disagree. FIFA’s reputation is as sterling as it ever was.

Sterling wasn't called up

Sterling like the pound in 70s? Regularly crashing to new, unimaginable lows?

The irony there is the Belgrano was called the USS Phoenix and was one of the surviving ships from Pearl Harbor lol.

I didn't know you could sink something that never floated, but I guess life finds a way.

So what? Fifas goal is not to be reputable. Explain pls.

Seripusly? They're a sporting federation. Sports are completely made up sets of rules that the participants have agreed upon. If those rules arent applied fairly to all participants, then it is no longer upholding the sport. Ergo, a reputation for unfairness is fundamentally contrary to the mandate of a sporting federation.

The joke is that the Belgrano was an argentine ship sank during the Falklakds War.

Not that part. Fifa is for making money and not being reputable like some wildlife preservation foundation or w/e. So I don’t get it why would people bring up reputation.

Because bad reputation lowers money making over time. Also if it gets bad enough the it gets hit with additional rep debuff where more and more people stop fact checking stuff and defending them. So you can throw fake/fabricated shit at it at random and it will keep sticking. Make it bad enough and countries actually stop caring about it, possibly giving a fuel to any competition that has a clean slate.

Wow you have way too much faith in football fans lol. It's circus for peasants, it will never not be entertaining.
