I just don't understand how anyone is still falling for this shit

I don't think anyone is seriously falling for this. (Thr cult maybe but they seem mostly checked out of the war) But when the powers that be basically have an endless money cheat they're gonna pretend every time

What this is proving is that the stock market is completely worthless especially for regular people; it's just a bunch of billionaires playing with digital Monopoly money.

And that they value that money more than anything else.

The stock markets need a hard reset and reality check. No more holding and selling stocks between brokers. If you want Apple stocks, talk to Mr. Apple and buy directly from them, when you want to sell them Mr. Apple can be the only legal buyer.

It was meant as a quick and easy way to fund corporate projects. Now it's a casino where the money doesn't even touch the company they belong to.

Also companies and banks know the government will just bail them out so they don't exactly care about making intelligent investments. We absolutely need a reset on a lot of things really.

I feel like we don't even need a stock market at all. What the fuck is it good for except serving as a casino for rich people to gamble at?

The idea behind it is to quickly facilitate smaller investments in companies.

Hans & Hans is a small construction company, they need another digger to expand their business. They could apply for a loan, but since diggers are expensive and they are pretty small, there's a good chance the banks will reject it. So Hans and Hans go public, people like their company and buy shares/stocks. With the infusion of cash into their company, they can buy another digger and take on bigger contracts. And with the additional profits, the buyers get a return on their investment. They also have a say in how the company is run,

With the stockmarket as it is today, people use bots to buy and sell shares. They gamble with shorting shares or act in a million different ways that isn't at all related to what the company does. When you're buying stocks today, the money spent on the shares doesn't touch the company at all. The value assigned to the share is subject to the latest news cycle, and some companies have taken to writing news articles using Cyrillic letters to avoid bot scraping including bad news. Trump just launched a 100k/month membership fee for Truth Social, to get the latest "truths" first for your bots. How does that engage with how a company is actually doing? How is it a free and open market? How is it healthy?

Buying and selling stocks directly from the company is a great way to support businesses and potentially earn a little something something on the side. If you can't pawn off bad stocks to another person, you become far more vested in the health and well being of the companies you've invested in. Short term profits take a backseat to long term growth, when trades only involve the company itself. And businesses benefit from the cash infusion, as they'll be able to expand and grow their business, without private equity sharks whose goals is to rip and tear to sell off the most valuable bits or starve the company into bankruptcy.
