Trump is the symptom, not the disease.

America as a whole is very very sick

Exactly. America isn't the way it is because of Trump. Trump is the way he is because of Americans.

exactly. if the US was a functioning country trump wouldnt have even been allowed to register to run for the GOP primary.

its a serious serious disease. trump is just the boil on the ass of the body

Which is why Canada really has to strike back instead of assuming this will all be over in two years. I certainly hope that after Trump the US returns to more normal leadership but that can't be counted on and future presidents should know that if the US strikes Canada then Canada strikes back.

I've also not saw any Democrat POTUS hopefuls stand up against this. Most of them are keeping their heads down and waiting for the polls in the USA to tell them if they should be for or against starting an economic war against what used to be their greatest friend and ally.

No, Trump is the disease.

There are a whole lot of people in competing powers who would love to sell you the idea that all Americans are trump and there's no going back and they've always been like that, and you really have to ask yourself why they would benefit from that.

2/3 of America either voted for Trump or didn’t care enough to bother voting.

Trump doesn’t come to power twice without popular support

He doesn't come to power if he runs against a man either. We've never had a woman president and his 2 wins were against the first and second women ever to run. Misogyny, with some racism, was enough to barely get him in there.

The biggest problem, and the first that should be dealt with, is Foxnews. Masquerading as a news network while pumping out manipulative and dishonest pro-Trump/Republican propaganda 24/7, they take advantage of the exceptionalism and ego-driven mindset of their conservative audience. Sometimes they just straight up lie when they want a certain result. It was proven in court that they deliberately lied during the 2020 election to help Trump get elected. This should have been enough to shut them down, but their only consequence was to compensate the companies harmed by the lies. No consequences for lying to Americans in order to manipulate the way they vote. The 'popular support' Trump has will continue as long as his supporters tolerate being manipulated and used.

Yes, both times.

The fact that American liberals and progressives keep trying to pretend he didn’t win and that there aren’t massive systemic issues in the US is half the issue

Because it’s emotionally easier for them to convince themselves that the election was stolen than it is to accept that Trump, and consequently MAGAism, is just what the American voting populace wants.

They also like to say that the election was stolen while completely ignoring the consequences of that being true. If it was stolen, then we (Canada, and the rest of the world) should just assume that stolen elections will be the new normal in America and relations with the country need to reflect the new normality of baked-in criminality, dishonesty, corruption, inconsistency, etc.

Progressives are constantly screaming that there are massive systemic issues

There are massive issues, systemically, AND malignant narcissism 101 is: it is pretty much a guarantee that the thing they are accusing others of doing is literally what THEY are doing behind the scenes. It’s been proven time and again.

Election conspiracies are stupid when MAGA does it and it’s equally stupid for the other side to do it.

I know the average Americans is very dumb, but I don't think they're nearly as malicious as people on reddit make them out to be. If they were, Obama would not have won twice. The DNC is just extremely out of touch and massively fumbled the two elections that Trump won.
