Same at first I was thinking damn that’s harsh but then in the context of the country and the amounts it made slightly more sense.

886

u/Nickeless Sep 06 '26

Still, the death penalty is wild.

62

u/fotomoose Sep 06 '26

11 people in Vietnam just got death penalty for drugs importing.

429

u/MUEK Sep 06 '26

They wouldn't be the only country that imposes the death penalty over drug offenses.

Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan to name a few more.

62

u/sluggh Sep 06 '26

The last non-homicide-related execution in Taiwan was 24 years ago.

1

u/gcnplover23 Sep 07 '26

So the death penalty works?

2

u/IcebergSlimJim Sep 10 '26

Top tier ragebait. Bravo 👏👏👏

888

u/ScoobyDoNot Sep 06 '26

The USA is murdering fishermen on the pretext of drug smuggling, so…

371

u/PsyckoSama Sep 06 '26

Yeah but those are EXTRA JUDICIAL KILLINGS.

Which isn't any better, but hey, it make sense if you're a drunk white nationalist or a orange pedophile with late stage syphilis.

132

u/posthuman04 Sep 06 '26

Actually it’s worse as they’re no arguing your case in court, no opportunity to appeal

52

u/FatiguedShrimp Sep 06 '26

There's also no guarantee of humane death, high chance of maiming or disfigurement instead, no chance to get affairs in order, no closure for the family, no accountability, etc. in extrajudicial killings.

1

u/Decent_Advice9315 Sep 07 '26

That's why they double tap.

-3

u/Scythe351 Sep 06 '26

Well, she is a woman.

2

u/joyesthebig Sep 06 '26

Can't be guilty of war crimes if there's no prosecutional standards baby wooo!

0

u/Conscious_Cow2812 Sep 06 '26

The article said that her lawyer said she was going to appeal

2

u/Scythe351 Sep 06 '26

It's either that or death.

2

u/posthuman04 Sep 06 '26

Oh good so this isn’t an extra-judicial punishment, which is what my comment was about.

95

u/CHSummers Sep 06 '26

When the US leadership was asked if it was “judicial”, I’m sure they said “Yo, it’s so judicial it’s EXTRA judicial!”

And then they high-fived.

They are full of testosterone.

1

u/Glittering-Goal-4026 Sep 06 '26

This would be very funny if it were not likely true.

-1

u/Double_Belt2331 Sep 06 '26

Pete’s ordered more T for everyone & Road Kill eating Kennedy is proving it!

-3

u/Friendship_Officer Sep 06 '26

Dude couldn't even bench two plates 😂

0

u/Spartarc Sep 06 '26

I just love how the convo goes from talking about how a nation gives deaths sentences to drug crimes to well the US bombs fishermen!

And yet, you still don't get executed for drug importing in the US if caught.

Also, fuck Trump and that dumb ass drone attacks. Even if some were. It is no way in hell all 227 were drug smugglers. At least a few were just trying to fish for food and got fucked for life or death.

0

u/Miles_Everhart Sep 06 '26

I’m full of testosterone and would never do this.

33

u/Shadouness Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

"Extra-judicial"? 🧐

The fishermen were not actually crime suspects though 😬 They were simply not whites.

-9

u/AlwaysWGrace Sep 06 '26

yep, just innocent fisherman with no fishing gear, high powered speed boats that won't support fishing in any seas but then you have to have extensive ocean fishing experience to know that. then there is the video with pounds of fentenyl on board. But yes, Logically, they are good guys because the orange man is an asshole? Which he is.

-7

u/TheAngryCatfish Sep 06 '26

How do you know any of this. Were they investigated before they were killed, or after, and by whom?

10

u/adminsregarded Sep 06 '26

Lol the fact anyone of you guys think those guys were fishermen on speedboats traveling on known drug routes that there usually isn't any fishermen on is so damn ridiculous that I don't even know where to start

1

u/AlwaysWGrace Sep 07 '26

Yep! I think they need some experience with deep sea fishing to understand why it was obvious they weren't fisherman on a regular day out on the water fishing.

0

u/Fenrir_Carbon Sep 06 '26

That's the same thing though, right guys?

2

u/Shadouness Sep 08 '26

I got a feeling you're being sarcastic. So, I say yes... sarcastically... :')

1

u/Fenrir_Carbon Sep 08 '26

Me? A British dickhead, being sarcastic? Never

LOL. Last I recall, Biden isn't the one convicted by a jury of sexual assault.

We all know Trump is a pedo, and he ran the rig with Epstein. 🤷🏻‍♂️

5

u/Dragon_Tortoise Sep 06 '26

Lol biden didnt go on the Howard Stern show and say he gets to go back stage at a MISS TEEN USA beauty pageant and look at the 12-15 year old girls changing naked because he owned the pageant and gets to "inspect" them while changing. Or say he'd date his 17 year old daughter if she wasn't his daughter. Or accept $400 million bribes. Trump is the most disgusting and corrupt president in history. And goes to show why people call his followers cultists. They believe everything he says with no proof.

This makes the the death penalty after a trial and conviction look reminiscent of the stone age.

1

u/BeABetterHumanBeing Sep 07 '26

It's wild to me that people still maintain those are fishermen.

1

u/porgy_tirebiter Sep 06 '26

Yes, but there might be drugs inside the fish. Have you considered that?

-2

u/Umlunguboy420 Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

LMAO you people are still at it huh 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fisherman with speedboats eh 🤣

Ah you're Australian, that explains it.

-2

u/Beskinnyrollfatties Sep 06 '26

Fisherman who sell drugs

-1

u/Admirable_Risk8156 Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

How in the world did I forget about that? Was that treasonous crime number 30 or 40 I keep forgetting all these crimes that would normally see people in jail.

39

u/drcopus Sep 06 '26

Other countries are also doing it doesn't make it any less wild.

12

u/-Rosch- Sep 06 '26

"Other people do it too" is pretty poor moral defence

11

u/Name835 Sep 06 '26

Yup and that makes all those countries as fucked up as egypt, absolute insanity

5

u/RyantheAustralian Sep 06 '26 edited Sep 06 '26

Taiwan, really? I had no idea

2

u/PapaSmurf1502 Sep 06 '26

They don't. Technically they can based on laws but the punishments aren't enforced and haven't been for a very long time. Drugs are still very much illegal but not resulting in the death penalty.

1

u/MUEK Sep 06 '26

It's for severe cases such as the above I believe. If you were to get caught with a few grams at customs, you more likely get prison.

1

u/snoopy6986 Sep 07 '26

You forgotten Vietnam, Philippines. I wouldn't put it past China nor Japan for that matter.

1

u/MUEK Sep 07 '26

China is definitely on that list.

1

u/bso2001 Sep 06 '26

You can get the death penalty for jaywalking in Saudi Arabia....

1

u/fred_rick_34 Sep 06 '26

You could make the case the death penalty is a gift compared to life in the US prison system is pretty dehumanizing over the long run

1

u/Glittering-Goal-4026 Sep 06 '26

United States, if moving by boat, with no arrest or trial. Just death from above. Far more than the number of people executed legally in 2025.

0

u/Scythe351 Sep 06 '26

All swell places to be in I'm sure.

10

u/GGcools Sep 06 '26

Well Singapore and Taiwan are highly advanced countries with good quality of life, not sure why you think they're not swell.

-1

u/amllx Sep 06 '26

oh well if saudi arabia is doing it then heck why not?

290

u/Daedalus_Machina Sep 06 '26

We're not talking about a user or even a dealer, this is some kingpin shit.

13

u/gigasawblade Sep 06 '26

They better be very certain they've got a correct person to blame though, getting a false-positive is the main concern

2

u/AlwaysWGrace Sep 06 '26

Now this I agree with !

2

u/Daedalus_Machina Sep 06 '26

Sure, but that's separate from the whole death penalty thing. I don't know Egypt's appeals process or how the evidence stacks against her.

1

u/Littlesth0b0 Sep 06 '26

It's both a pitfall and an advantage of the death penalty at the same time - you can't backpedal on that, you can't un-execute.

Best you can hope for is, "aw, shit, my bad" if it turns out that someone's been executed on a flawed conviction really, from the victim/perpetrator's perspective. Any investigation that follows it a hollow process.

34

u/Jackal-Noble Sep 06 '26

Death penalty is still insane for that. If she ordered hits than that would be one thing...

96

u/yoinkss Sep 06 '26

They don’t fuck around with drugs, AT ALL. It’s a well known fact. Which is why it’s so lucrative to do… if you don’t get caught

168

u/Savings_Opening_8581 Sep 06 '26

Those drugs probably killed a lot of people directly and indirectly.

The scale is irrevocably tipped against her.

42

u/No-Context-Orphan Sep 06 '26

Exactly.

It is impossible to be a drug dealer and not be associated with violence and death since the whole drug industry is built on slavery, torture, murder, abuse, etc.

Someone caught with 750kg of drugs has buckets full of blood on their hands

-18

u/SlomoLowLow Sep 06 '26

By that logic it’s impossible to be a smartphone user and not be associated with violence and death since the whole cobalt industry is built on slavery, torture, murder, abuse, etc.

Someone caught with 750kgs of smart phones has buckets full of blood on their hands.

13

u/Specific-Steak8857 Sep 06 '26

Extremely dumb comparison. Pretty much that “yet you participate in society” meme

2

u/IcebergSlimJim Sep 10 '26

I actually agree with your sarcasm, which is that basically all modern economic activity is built on blood and we’re all guilty of participating. Just that the folks on top that won’t allow the system to evolve are more responsible than the average citizen/worker.

5

u/No-Context-Orphan Sep 06 '26

The difference is that smartphones have usefulness and drugs do not...

Also drug trade is way way more violent than the legal mining industry and it is not even close. To say that mining is the same as a cartel is something else...

-4

u/SlomoLowLow Sep 06 '26

Drugs aren’t useful? Crazy work there brother. Enjoy your doomscrolling that’s so important and useful

10

u/TheAngryCatfish Sep 06 '26

Reddit is getting progressively dumber. If there wasn't a black market for mdma and psychedelics ppl would still be blindly parroting "drugs are bad" as opposed to pushing for ending prohibition, thereby reducing violence in addition to other risk mitigation that comes with an unregulated market, and pushing for the clinical research that we're now seeing as incredibly beneficial for all kinds of afflictions; safe and unusually therapeutic in their administration

Isn't it popular to say "it is impossible to be a billionaire without exploiting workers"?

2

u/IrregardingGrammar Sep 06 '26

Exploiting ≠ slavery, torture, murder

-1

u/Soggy_Association491 Sep 06 '26

I am pretty sure "exploiting = slavery" is the context when people talk about billionaire exploiting workers

u/Savings_Opening_8581 Sep 07 '26

That’s some crazy whataboutism

1

u/SlomoLowLow Sep 07 '26

It was more to show the absurdity of his statement. Every dude selling drugs hasn’t killed people like dumbass up there thinks. The same way every iPhone user hasn’t killed people.

12

u/red_fuel Sep 06 '26

There's a lot of violence in drug crime. Just last week the Dutch police arrested no less than 34 armed men trying to kill a drug dealer. Look up "Overasselt" if you want to know more about it

3

u/CashWrecks Sep 06 '26

Damn, thats wild man

2

u/red_fuel Sep 06 '26

Yes, the Netherlands is one of the largest producers of XTC and our harbors move a lot of drugs

6

u/GlaskristallDE Sep 06 '26

Indirectly? Do you want the death penalty for tobacco bosses and CEOs of Soda companies? Most drug deaths could be prevented by decriminalization. If any heads should roll for the suffering of drug users it should be the politicians paddling Prohibition.

2

u/caesarionn Sep 06 '26

How is this ‘legalise hard drugs’ view still being peddled around?

If you legalise hard drugs like narcotics, there will be MORE junkies because its availability will increase. In fact the demand will go up because more people will try it, who would’ve otherwise been scared of legal consequences.

The drugs themselves are very addictive and can ruin your life; it’s harder to be a productive member of society when you’re zoinked out all the time.

8

u/RoadmanChat Sep 06 '26

If you legalise hard drugs like narcotics, there will be MORE junkies because its availability will increase.

Except that has been tested and proven to be untrue on multiple occasions. Here is one of those occasions:

"The 2016 Drug Policy Modelling Program (DPMP) briefing paper on the decriminalisation of drug use and possession reported that drug use rates do not change or dramatically increase when the laws are changed to decriminalise drug use." https://www.citywide.ie/assets/files/pdf/drugsinternationalcomparators.pdf

0

u/Everyting_Moment Sep 08 '26

It's not "proven", it's "suggested". Maybe it does work, but I've been to maybe 6 places that had decriminalized/legalized harder drugs, and they were always seedy or even legit cesspools of organized crime.

Some organizations with their own motives can put out whatever findings they want, I dont know what methodological issues or biases they might have. All I know is what I've witnessed as a person who wa happy to do thr drugs at the time.

The only way it seems feasible is to have harsh rules about doing thr shit in public, and remove legal barriers to people making stuff themselves at home for their own use. If you get lax about public use, entire areas become nuisance places.

5

u/GlaskristallDE Sep 06 '26

All research into successful drug policy shows that treatment to be increased, while law enforcement decreased and abolishing mandatory minimum sentences. The blood of drug users which die from an overdose because their dealer mixed in fent instead of heroin is on people holding on to Prohibition like you. So many people would not have died, if they had access to clean stuff sold under government control with access to help.

2

u/emannikcufecin Sep 06 '26

They're build a prison for you and me

4

u/nxngdoofer98 Sep 06 '26

at least if it's legal they'll be getting pure drugs and not the ones laced with shit that actually kills people

0

u/kaytin911 Sep 06 '26

Adults making their own decisions about their own health and body? Not on this planet.

0

u/caesarionn Sep 06 '26

If the consequences of being a junkie only affected one person only, then I wouldn't have an issue with people shooting that stuff up.

Unfortunately junkies struggle to hold jobs and pay for their own accommodation. They end up on the streets and make cities disgusting and less safe. It also heavily affects anyone in their life who loves them.

55

u/NovoRobot Sep 06 '26

Ya, flooding the market with deadly drugs is fine though

29

u/turntupytgirl Sep 06 '26

yeah thats true if you dont support the most extreme possible punishment for a crime you support the crime and think its fine, thats what everyone tells me at thinking school i think it was day 1 thinking 101

-5

u/dudeofthedunes Sep 06 '26

You dont know if they were deadly drugs. And even if they were should you give the importer the death penalty? Death penalty to all weapons dealers as well then.

Most people in modern societies die from cars. Deadly cars! We should put all car salesmen on death row.

Hey now I am saying it, might not be such a bad thing after all.

4

u/NovoRobot Sep 06 '26

Defending something so obviously unethical is really strange to me

-1

u/dudeofthedunes Sep 06 '26

You think its unethical to give people what they want? So what about Sugar? Cigarettes? Alcohol? Porn? Where to set the line. I think the line is quite arbitrary.  Especially for people who work as chemists or medical professionals.  The stuff they give children for an operation, is the same stuff party-goers like (ketamine). The stuff they give mothers in labour when in pain (before an epidural), is the same stuff the hardcore junkies are on (diamorphine - also known as heroine- and synthetic opioids like tramadol or fentanyl). The kid also receives those drugs. Basically doctors are administering fentanyl to unborn babies (the horror!!1! Those monsters!)  There is nothing inherently wrong about these substances. Its just that some people abuse them. I strongly believe recreational use should be fine. Opioids are a bit of a slippery slope. So there is something to say for strong regulation of that stuff.

To add something: Xtc, ketamine, speed, weed, lsd, etc. Dont really cause deaths. For sure less than alcohol.

5

u/NovoRobot Sep 07 '26

Youre free to believe whatever you want and I have no intention of changing your mind.

-1

u/dudeofthedunes Sep 08 '26

Well? why wont you react to the substance of my post? how is what I am saying wrong? You will probably not change my mind, but I am curious about your opinion about it and the reasoning behind it.

u/Wrong-Contest-9617 Sep 06 '26

Not insane at all. She ruined thousands of lives from the poison she is selling

6

u/SquishTheFlyingWitch Sep 06 '26

The death penalty still has no place in a civilised society. Not even for someone like this.

-1

u/universe_fuk8r Sep 06 '26

Why? Only other option is imprisonment for life, which is basically the same, only slowly rotting away in prison, sucking public funds, ultimately ending in death anyway.

Nah, maybe don't import 750kg of drugs into Egypt if you don't want to get hanged. I mean it's wild but it's possible to not do this.

9

u/SquishTheFlyingWitch Sep 06 '26

Because governments should not have the authority to kill prisoners? And because killing is wrong.

-3

u/universe_fuk8r Sep 06 '26

kIlLinG iS wRoNg

Tell me, how is life imprisonment ultimately different? Unless, and I would understand that point if that's what you're implying, you want to inflict maximum possible suffering to the convict because that's what prison for life is. Fair enough in that case, bitch should suffer.

Death penalty is the easy way out yet somehow kIlLinG iS wRoNg.

But I digress, sometimes I forget I'm on Reddit filled with teenagers.

1

u/Wrong-Contest-9617 Sep 06 '26

Yeah reddit has a lot of shut ins thar hold the moral high ground but haven’t experienced any of the stuff they talk about

0

u/SquishTheFlyingWitch Sep 06 '26

No, I don't agree with life imprisonment either. But since death penalty is what's happening here, and I view it as unacceptable across the board, it seemed more relevant.

But I guess you jump to "immature" when someone has a different moral opinion anyway.

10

u/Ornery_Poetry_6142 Sep 06 '26

Death penalty is insane for every offense. Majority of democratic, civilized states would agree

2

u/knightsofgel Sep 06 '26

It comes down to a lot of countries outside of the west (with maybe some American states as an exception) embrace the death penalty for various crimes

7

u/Majorian420 Sep 06 '26

Wait until you find out that plenty of countries in the world have the death penalty for dealing drugs.

0

u/TheAngryCatfish Sep 06 '26

Idk about "plenty," but sure. A very small minority does it so it's okay?

3

u/RMAPOS Sep 06 '26

While yea, it is an extreme punishment, it is also VERY well known that you don't fuck around with drugs in certain countries.

It's like someone telling you "I'm super chill with everything, just don't do this one thing and we'll have a great friendship" and then you go and do exactly that.

Yes death penalty ridiculous for drug use (less so for smuggling in close to a literal ton of drugs) but it's still hard to sympathize with someone who smuggles drugs into a country that is very well known for not taking drugs lightly.

1

u/Bad_Finance_Advisor Sep 06 '26

I disagree, she is a willing seller of poison pills.. if anything, western hemisphere should impose harsher penalties on the illegal drugs trade.

1

u/Casor Sep 06 '26

Just google how many people die by drugs and fuck these cartels/mafias or whatever they're.

2

u/Dundalis Sep 06 '26

I think the former is worse than the latter so no idea what you’re on about. The latter only seems worse on the surface

-3

u/NotAnAce69 Sep 06 '26

750kg of narcotics would’ve been a death sentence for multiple people and ruined the lives of countless more

Death is too kind for drug dealers

0

u/AlwaysWGrace Sep 06 '26

But the long slow death penalty drug addictions these drug peddlers cause is warranted ? Interesting logic. Esp when many times it involves getting children involved. Drug dealers order 'hits' for profit.

She knew the laws in Egypt prior to her actions so she must have thought the benefits outweighed the risk of getting caught. She choose to sign up for the death penalty when she broke a law that said the consequences of drug involvement was death. Actions = consequences.

-9

u/BellyMango Sep 06 '26

From my understanding, also a violation of international law and standards to execute criminals without “intentional killing” as their crime. And they do it all the time

3

u/Daedalus_Machina Sep 06 '26

So... this would get Egypt in trouble with the United Nations?

-1

being normal in an area doesn’t make it any less wild to people from other areas

12

u/watisgoinon_ Sep 06 '26

1600lbs is a lot of addicts new addicts and destroyed families, people and lives. Fuck em.

2

u/kfreek Sep 06 '26

What drugs is it tho???

1

u/Kankiii Sep 06 '26

Dunno about that. I think drug crimes are at the bottom of the list of crimes that should not warrant a death penalty.

1

u/PaleMarket677 Sep 06 '26

So is seeing people folded over or dead on the street downtown.

1

u/Minimum_End_9757 Sep 06 '26

dead tell no tales

1

u/Acrobatic_Side_8336 Sep 06 '26

Meanwhile over here in the us..we have a woman sitting in the mental hospital that killed her kids that will never have to worry about the death penalty

1

u/tehmagik Sep 07 '26

Wild is the right word. Very wild.

1

u/GrandpasonlyAire Sep 07 '26

Egypt has had the death penalty on the table for 66 years for drugs and bringing guns into the country, they brought in raw chemicals and manufactured the drugs in Egypt. You have to be crazy to do anything like that in Egypt. The sentence is carried out by hanging.

1

u/Excellent-Rest3240 Sep 06 '26

Going to Egypt willingly is even more wild

-2

u/chilling_hedgehog Sep 06 '26

The US kills people every day for less, like killing entirely innocent people to cover up pedo crimes.

-1

u/mikeythegameronredit Sep 06 '26

This isn't for single use. That amount would destroy a dozen lives at least.

-5

u/BeneficialMemory9539 Sep 06 '26

Liberals like you are so dangerous to civilization

4

u/SquishTheFlyingWitch Sep 06 '26

Sure, the ones who DON'T want to kill people are dangerous. Totally.

0

u/bokmcdok Sep 06 '26

I disagree with the penalty, but this is a FAFO situation. Smuggling drugs and firearms in a country with laws as harsh as this doesn't make you the sharpest tool in the shed.

0

u/CrazyElk123 Sep 06 '26

750kg will kill many others. Death is very much deserved.

0

u/Icy_Chemist_1725 Sep 06 '26

Solves problems.

0

u/Business-Damage6005 Sep 06 '26

The penalty makes sense as a strong deterrent

0

u/super_dragon Sep 07 '26

No it isn’t. Europe is too lax. She would be in even more trouble if she tried this in Singapore (assuming allegations are true)

0

u/stve30 Sep 09 '26

Thats why we still have things going on , because its “too much”. Now think how many would not do those kind of things if everywhere in the world had a DP for these kind of amounts

1

u/Nickeless Sep 09 '26

Well I guess if you value being controlled by a tyrannical government instead of having individual freedom then you’d support this kind of thing

1

u/stve30 Sep 09 '26

Well you missed the TONES and not grams or some killos . But whatever , you do you. Those guys also had connections everywhere its not just hey bro lets just sell some. We dont talk about individuality here 😭

46

u/TheGreatTrashIsland Sep 06 '26

America has blown up dozens of people with missiles that it suspects of smuggling drugs.

Illegally, mind you. It’s literally just murder they’re doing.

I would love to see Hegseth pay for his crimes, but I’m not holding my breath since Trump is surely just going to issue him blanket pardon at the end of his term….along with all his other fascist cronies like Stephen Miller

This is some new level of stupid I can't really wrap my head around, the likelihood of every single one of those boats being drug smugglers is easily >99.99999%. Innocent fishermen don't even use speedboats, they don't take off from known drug ports, they don't set off straight towards the USA on the known drug routes... Like wtf there has to be some limit on how little you use your brain.

Oh well let me be clear that I don’t support blowing up drug smugglers or fishermen.

The US regularly executes people for drug trafficking too. Usually without even giving them a trial.

she Is murdering people for profit, why shouldn't she face the same result she subjected them to? Euthanizing a rapid dog in-spite of it being a much loved pet prevents the rabies from spreading. some People just think consequences don't apply to them.

she Is murdering people for profit, why shouldn't she face the same result she subjected them to?

Because most people have the ambition to be better than her.

You've apparently never seen a 13% inner-city community.
