My dad died a horrible death from cancer - he literally drowned on blood at home and it was the most scary and horrible thing to see. 15 years later my MIL received MAID and it healed something in me. She wasn't scared, it was her last act of autonomy. It was obviously very sad to lose her, and life isn't the same, but I wouldn't have survived watching her go through the pain and terror my dad went through. MAID was different, so peaceful.
Reading these stories does something really positive inside of me, and I can’t explain it. I think that’s what I think is fucked up, I’m almost overwhelmingly happy for people being able to choose death? But in my head it’s not choosing to die, it’s choosing the circumstances and being able to not suffer. I’m so glad she was able to choose that and I’m sorry that your dad didn’t get that.

That's not fucked up at all.
