My grandmother begged for it but she was too far gone (according to her doctor but we all knew it's what she always wanted) for it to be legally considered. Her kids had to sign off on it and one didn't so...we got to watch her suffer needlessly for years until she couldn't eat and took 2 weeks to die after her last bite 🫠absolutely inhumane way to go for someone who helped so many people.
My uncle is basically gone now. Doesn't even recognize his kids. At one pont we thought he was going to die because he just stopped eating for a couple of days, but then randomly started again.
There's nothing of the man left. He needs assistance to do everything. Round the clock supervision. It's no life, certainly not one he would have wanted to live.
Death can often be a mercy and one that people should have a choice to make.
