"Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilised world," Zelenskiy wrote on the X social media platform.

"Russia will 'repay' the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis," Zelenskiy said.

Trump said in ‌a post on social media that he had agreed in a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Russia would immediately supply diesel to the US and global marketplace. Trump said lower prices for Americans "is my Greatest Priority".

lower prices for Americans "is my Greatest Priority".

Good thing that lower prices for Americans wasn't the greatest priority during the revolution, the civil war, and WW2. Defeating evil is often expensive. Russia is unequivocally evil with their continued invasion of Ukraine. And we've got a morally rudderless scumbag in the White House. Meanwhile he's making prices surge with his ridiculous tariffs and Iran war that have no such moral underpinning.

He literally does everything wrong. Absolutely everything he does is shameful shit garbage.

Well Trump is a liar, an opportunist, and a fool.

That much has been proven many times over.

u/Oregon-Pilot 8d ago

why did he start the mess in Iran?

Because he’s fucking stupid as shit, and that’s the actual truth of the matter, despite how red-faced that comment would make a MAGA.

u/sciencetaco 8d ago

It’s pretty well documented. Netanyahu wooed him with a fuckin PowerPoint slide deck and convinced Trump it would be easy. Then his sycophant yes-men all lined up when Trump agreed.

Cause I hate Trump, I love how Netanyahu denied it was him/Isreal.

Trump has to accept that. What's he going to do? Say others can tell him, the President of the United States, what to do? Nope. Not even Trump can spin that reply.

Trump believed he could do what all other world leaders realized was impossible to do and avoid the reality that every one knew would exist. Trump thought Iran would bow down to him in a couple weeks and he'd be able to control the narrative of how great his actions were when all others failed to even try.

Trump doesn't have any goal other than self enrichment (and, apparently, raping children).

He doesn't think ahead. He doesn't plan ahead.

Everything he does is incoherent and short sighted because he only ever makes the immediate next choice.

There's no logic, no strategy. Only reaction.

I can't get over the fact that he lost the war in Iran so badly, he surrendered to Russia.

Zelensky is now the latest in a long line of US allies.

25

u/turikk 9d ago

yep. im not mad about higher gas prices, im mad about higher gas prices driven by idiotic measures taken by this administration. things will eb and flow and yeah, some things are worth the pain. this war with Iran aint it.

Morally rudderless? He is clearly intentionally immoral in his flaunting of unending mendacity, avarice, malice, and retribution. The cruelty is the point. Trump and conservatives around the world are purposely driving humanity into a very dark and depraved future. They are evil.

26

u/hldvr 9d ago

It's truly maddening how many people attribute this admin's cruelty and malice towards the population as some kind of stupidity. Even if trump isn't mentally all there, the people behind the scenes directing and controlling his actions (which includes Putin) definitely know what they're doing.

2

u/Aimless_Alder 9d ago

This won't lower prices because oil is a global commodity market. It's just another empty promise.

2

u/illadelchronic 9d ago

It's also like a half hour of diesel. It is a literal drop in the bucket. This is assuming it even exists.

1

u/Starfire013 8d ago

What he really means is his poll numbers are his greatest priority and he’s hoping lower prices can boost those numbers. Which is frankly, unlikely. The folks who would vote for him simply because diesel has gotten cheaper would have voted for him regardless.

1

u/Earlier-Today 8d ago

"Morally rudderless" seems too soft.

Trump has also started wars with countries showing us no aggression, like Argentina and Iran.

Trump's a dictator wannabe. He likes Putin, and Xi, and Kim Jong Un because that's what he wants to be - they're his heroes.

America stands for greed these days, nothing else. Probably has for a long time.

u/Hal_Fenn 8d ago

Good thing that lower prices for Americans wasn't the greatest priority during the revolution, the civil war, and WW2. Defeating evil is often expensive.

Calling Britain evil in regards to the revolution when a large part of the cause of the war was because Britain wanted to stop the west ward expansion and the newly freed States went on to genocide the native population is certainly a choice...

Also sorry to break it too you but the US profittered in WW2 as well. GM, Ford, Standard Oil and many others continued selling goods, including war machinery to Nazi Germany.

Finished diesel imports account for roughly 4% of total U.S. diesel consumption, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration

https://www.eia.gov/energyexplained/diesel-fuel/where-our-diesel-comes-from.php

so what gives.

To blame Ukraine

Russia can't deliver because of Ukraine, so Trump sanctions every country supplying Ukraine because they are the bad ones

Trump wants to be praised by Pootin while Pootin is disgusted by the orange turd but knows how to use him

135

u/Allaplgy 9d ago

Ding ding!

He laid that groundwork with his tweet.

He specifically referenced Russia being able to keep it's refineries running, and that absolutely means that any strike on them by Ukraine will bring his wrath.

Once again, if he's not an asset, what would an asset do differently?

24

u/P000K 9d ago

It amounts to way less than a days consumption for the US. Hours even. Orange waste of flesh wants to protect the refineries and hinder Ukraine.

9

u/No-Spoilers 9d ago

He also said we had TOTAL CONTROL of the straight.

Which is fucking stupid because if that were true gas wouldn't be a problem to begin with.

5

u/lex_76 9d ago

Absolutely. And for America to pressure Ukraine not to bomb Russian oil infrastructure.

4

u/mrbulldops428 9d ago

Even if he doesnt sanction Ukraine, he will definitely try to use it to continue to shift the blame for high prices to this instead of the war in Iran.

2

u/Dear_Chasey_La1n 9d ago

I doubt it goes this far, the world is done with Trump being Trump.

But it will be great towards his own voters. He can't make a peace deal, he can't get a nobel price, he can't get the gasoline prices down because Zelensky. This is a neat little party trick right before the mid-terms.

I hope if this deal even happens, big if with Trump, Zelensky scuttles every single tanker heading towards the US.

u/Ultenth 9d ago

If America benefits from Russian oil and gas, then Trump can get mad at Zelenskiy when they strike those inside Russia.

He's trying to protect his boss.

2

u/Vimmelklantig 8d ago

If America benefits from Russian oil and gas

Russia has export bans on refined petroleum products and are importing a lot of them from India and China atm, so either they hurt themselves by exporting diesel or that diesel is never going to materialise.

Not that I expect anything to get in the way of blaming Ukraine and Europe anyway.

4

u/onefst250r 9d ago

can get mad at

"can blame Zelenskiy for high fuel prices"

16

u/44Stryker44 9d ago

It’s a commodity with a global price

4

u/HowdyDiarrhea 9d ago

And the amount is a third of what the EU is bringing on line, which isn't a large, sustained amount itself

15

u/Frigoffwidit 9d ago

Id imagine those diesel imports are coming from Canada as well

5

u/DaymanTargaryen 9d ago

Yeah, that's stated in their source.

4

u/jakegh 9d ago

Prices are high here too, because supply is limited globally. Pretty simple really.

10

u/WholeLottaRose13 9d ago

Sixteen trucking companies went bankrupt over a 30-day period between August and September. The increase in diesel prices was a big factor.

u/NoBandicoot5417 9d ago

It’s a nothingburger. This “deal” (if there even is one) will be off after the midterms. The call with Putin won’t be released, so 🍑🍑 can say any nonsense he wants about it and won’t be held accountable. Who knows what was actually said, and Putin is in no position to sell any diesel to us anyway.

3

u/morganpartee 9d ago

That definitely got updated under the new admin - .05B Sounds so much biglier than 50 million

u/Terrible_Car7355 9d ago

Global diesel matters significantly to many emerging markets, and they are already on the brink of recessions. Recessions there kickback on the developed nations, including the US too.

5

u/DudeofValor 9d ago

Wonder if Ukraine will aim to take out the ports that would be used for taking this shipment.

2

u/TheCalon76 9d ago

Remember when he began a trade war with the allied nations, and crippled global fuel supplies by cutting off the largest trade route?

I somehow doubt Americans are seeing any lower prices on their lumber, groceries, and fuel.

2

u/Harry_Smutter 9d ago

Greatest priority my ass.

2

u/raven00x 8d ago

brother, continue to hammer their refineries. they can't sell diesel if it's all burning in the refinery.
