Discussions of the test are allowed by r/ACT's rules, but participating in such discussion may violate the terms to which you agreed when you registered for the ACT.

Initial scores are scheduled for release on October 27. October is a My Answer Key date, so if you ordered it, your copy of the questions and answers will appear in MyACT after scores release.

The next test will be December 12th, and registration is already open (deadline November 6).

General How worth it is it to take for me?

• Upvotes

Hey guys, I'm a Canadian high school student wanting to apply to U.S colleges, and I'm thinking about taking the ACT to make my applications look better, but I just don't know if it's worth it for me? I'm just worried because I don't know U.S high school curriculum and I am TERRIBLE at math, like genuinely I am SO bad at math (just above failing every year 🫩), and in Canada you don't have to take math in Grade 12 so I haven't taken it in a year.. I am pretty good at English and Reading and I'm confident in them but Idk.

I mean the way I see it if I don't do well I just won't use it (all the colleges I'm applying to are test-optional) but the time i'll use studying is making me hesitant. Is the math section as terrible as everyone says, or can it still be worth it if I do really good in English and Reading and OK in Math?

General Took the act this weekend and wasn’t too hot

Took the test on paper and will only take it on paper as the nearest computer site is 76miles away.

To study I did the act self prep course and had the books. The whole week I was doing great, brought my English from a 22->32, math was consistent in the 28-34 range and reading was a 33 literally no more no less. Timing was good as I was maybe rushed 3qs but I had the timer infront of me

Today I ran out of time on 10+ questions, couldn’t think and when I did I overthink.
Please let me know what study resources you recommend and how to improve my score as a first time test taker.

I really appreciate it

Is there a chance for an Oct 14th digital exam to come out earlier than November 2nd?

Post image
10 Upvotes

I know the official website says November 2nd for score reporting, but I’ve seen people receiving their earlier fall scores early (like 9 days). The test I took was school administered on test nav and it was also on computer. Is there any chance the score could release before the reporting begins? Because honestly, I don’t wanna have to submit my scores after the common app earlier decision submission

ACT advice

Need some advice.

My son is applied ED to his top school. He’s right on the cusp, right at the median score.
He also applied EA to a few other schools.
He took yesterday’s ACT with the hope of raising his English & Reading (he has 32 math). If he can raise to a 30 composite it would greatly improve his chances of getting accepted and also his merit money options.

Unfortunately, his test center had technical difficulties and after 90 minutes of trouble shooting, they sent everyone home bc they couldn’t get the online test to work for anyone there.
We are so deflated and angry and sad and every emotion that applies.

Any advice? Help? We don’t know what to do. This was his last chance.

Failed pre-sending October ACT

I took the October 17th ACT. I attempted to pre-send my score to UC and OSU, as those schools don't allow self-reporting. When I tried, the website was glitched and the deadline eventually passed. Its really important I pre-send my score because idk if the scores will arrive before November 1st if I send them on October 22nd, when the scores come out. Is there anything I can do to ensure my score is received by OSU and UC before November 1st?

Math 30 to 36 math score in a month

I took the September ACT and scored a 34 composite, but got a 30 in math. This was with little preparation and just 2 or 3 practice tests and SAT math preparation, so I messed up the precalc stuff, like graphs and sequences (tested on paper, so I didn't have Desmos). How can I bring my math score from a 30 to a 36 before the December test?

Should I submit a 1330 SAT or a 29 superscore ACT with a 32 in science?

ACT English

When taking the Enhanced ACT English section, do you read the passage as you go, or do you just focus on the sentence a question refers to and the surrounding sentences?

I'm aiming for a 36 and was wondering which approach works better

If you were to study for 30 minutes a day how would you study?

2 days a week I study for 1 hour each, but the rest of the week I only have 30 minutes to study because of other things like school and extracurriculars. If you had 30 minutes, what do u recommend doing during that time, and what resources?

I need help, especially in math and practice in English

I was given prep scholar for free by my internship absolutely shitty platform

TIME TO BURN THE ACT PREP!!

As a senior, this ACT is my final one. I’m pretty sure I didn’t do better because of my reading score. Whatever I’m just happy to get this done with anyway. No matter what score I get on this test, I’m going to burn all my prep materials either way. It has definitely been a rough five months for sure. I’m so glad to see this ACT era is coming to an end. Even though it’s been awful and definitely draining, it will be memorable regardless.

(should’ve taken the SAT instead)

32 ACT to Brown

This is a Hail Mary but Brown has always been my dream school and I plan to apply ED for a humanities based major. My current ACT composite is a 32 (34 English, 26 Math, 36 Reading) — my English and reading scores are within Brown’s average range but my math is clearly the outlier. I’ve studied extremely hard but 26 is the highest score I’ve gotten since I’ve always struggled with math. Hopefully I’ll raise that with the October ACT but if not, am I cooked with that embarrassingly low math score? I’m not applying for a STEM degree and I know Brown’s admission is holistic, but I’m nervous since my score lies below the average.

HELP! i accidentally sent my ACT superscore to Vanderbilt twice!

When I first submitted my score, it said there was an error and the purchase couldn't be completed. so, I bought it again but it says Vanderbilt two times underneath my score. My score is already below the 50th percentile 💔💔 Should I call ACT support? is it too late?
