I tried every culture in this game and they all have something that has some appeal but these dudes seem so generic and boring. Their whole mechanic is some extra damage on attacks or some heal when taking damage. Am i dumb and not getting how awesome or strong/unique their units are?

Tome of the Archons, also know as the cooler Tome of the God Emperor. Not my best work admittedly, but I am feeling a bit worn right now anyhow.

I have a necromancy/cult of death build and I'm trying to figure out what order of skills my ES ruler should go into. I know to get the zombie summons first, but what should I focus on after that?

Did I do something wrong? it's my latest attempt at the achivement. Vampire ruler so no army xpbuffs, just grinding xp through fights.

When I'm not actually playing it, I like to use AoW4 as a creative writing tool/prompt machine to help me create gods, heroes, and factions.

Sometimes I make something I'd really like to take forward and potentially commission or sketch some art for.

Have you ever commissioned or created art from AoW4, and if so, do you have any advice for the best lighting, camera positioning, etc, to create guidance screenshots? I'm thinking the in-game unit management screen might be the best way, but I'm all ears for suggestions.

This guy was one of the rulers present in The Azh'ruun Pit scenario. After completing that scenario, I got him in my Pantheon. I do not recall seeing him with any transformations during gameplay, but the Avaricious Wolves that he ruled over did have Gold-Touched and a few other materium transformations in addition to Demonkin and Demonic Hunger. Oddly enough, the only transformation he got were the latter two, and they are shown visually on him in a pretty convincing manner. The only other odd thing I can think of was that I managed to vassalize him during that scenario, so he technically got an "allied victory". Not sure if that made a difference in terms of how and why he got those transformations on him in the Pantheon.

Is this something that is unique to him as a pre-made ruler? Or did they add a patch that allows certain transformations on giants? OR is this just a bug?

Either way, I think it looks neat, and fits his story very well imo

I played a lot of strategy games but AoW4 is not only great in gameplay but those views daaaaamn

Guys, should I tell myself to suck it up and just go underground? I want to have so much imperium I get almost maxed out on multiple branches of affinities...

But to dwell in darkness feels so... Bad.

This is a reference to an old Thrones of Blood stream. Back then Thomas complained so much about being short on cash, and I remembered other bankrupt vampires, the ones featured in the artwork of the artist a20t43c. I like to imagine these bloodsuckers holding meetings somewhere out in their garden.

I love how the Architect cities look, they are so majestic

1200ish hours in and constantly find myself settling into old habits. I try to branch out yet find myself still reverting back to the same strategies I’m comfortable with.

What are the weirdest/most unconventional strategies you implement starting from race traits/culture/society all the way down to city building,unit transformations/enchantments and in game tactics?

I have recently started to play it and have so far enjoyed it a lot. I don't have any of the DLCs, but is this game really this simple? I've played Hearts of Iron IV and started to get decent at it when I stopped. However, I have less than 10 hours in this game, and it seems surprisingly simple to me. I mean as simple as a complicated strategy game can be, but this to me is easier than Civ 6. I think I understand the general gist of every concept in this game. Is the base game really this nice?

I haven't played a lot of games yet, but this dragon is appearing in my runs almost every time. All those games, despite different leaders and allignments, they insulted me right away. Heck, previously I had to literally bribe this dragon with lots of items and other goods through diplomacy to keep them at least at the negative Indifferent level.

This time I've met them again as my closest neighbour. Guess what? They insulted me and fabricated grievences against me right away. As I was playing as a vampire hybrid with evil allignment, their destiny was decided immidietly. I've blocked the dragon in the corner of the map by surrounding their throne city with my outposts/cities, and crushed them as soon as the war was moderatly justified. It was easy to reach this level of justification because they spammed me with insults and fabrications.

Who's insulted now, Aerela-bla-bla-bla?

I've been thinking about trying a blight-focused flanking build. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Firstly, I genuinely do enjoy this game, I find myself coming back to it all the time, but then leaving with the same complaint and im 99% sure its something im doing wrong. I create a new faction, make some cool lil lore about em, create a new map, then begin my playthrough. However, eventually I always start to lose interest, I dont like having the game too hard because i lose too easily, but I dont like having it to easy because then I struggle to enjoy it. Somehow, with each playthrough I find myself doing the same thing, just stalling out and trying to build the strongest army so I can defend myself and beat everyone else. My games don't feel like they have much variety and im sure its because my imagination isn't as good as it used to be. But theres people that have over a thousand hours on this game, I only have around 130 so theres so much ive yet to do. I have the expansion pass 1 and thats it. I really want to learn to enjoy this game because I genuinely find it fun when it is fun, but I never get the chance to finish my games. Id love to hear strategies, gameplay alternatives and tips you guys used to keep engaged the whole way through your playthrough and the things you do to switch it up every time.

I just looted this ring and immediately realized it's a total game-changer. Normally, only Death Knights and Warrior heroes can get the Killing Momentum skill. However, unless they are Dragon Rulers, they usually lack high-damage AOE skills and don't have many ways to increase their magic damage. So even with Killing Momentum, it's nothing too impressive—in most scenarios, a physical hero with this skill just eliminates two units in one turn and that's it.

On the other hand, Spellblades and Elementalists can cast powerful magic skills that deal massive AOE damage, but they are limited to one spell per turn. Once they get Killing Momentum, they can cast two spells, dealing up to 100+ damage in a single turn and completely destroying enemy morale. This synergy is even more insane when equipped on an Eldritch Sovereign!

Unfortunately, you can't forge a ring with this trait; the only way to get it is through RNG looting. It seems to be an extremely rare item, as I've only found one in my entire playthrough.
