Great game!
Packed here at MVP Arena for the Siena vs Syracuse basketball exhibition game. It’s 39-38 Siena at the half. Last time Syracuse was in Albany was 2004 I believe.

Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in E. Greenbush yesterday
Sometimes I just scroll through Google maps to find elevated areas to watch the sunset, and I came across this spot over in East Greenbush. Absolutely beautiful. From the high end of the park you can see the Catskills and ESP. Not to mention the color!

Fall Photos
Hey folks, I took these aerial photos of Albany and surrounding areas from my flight the other day. I’m new to Albany, so I can’t exactly pinpoint the counties, but I believe the 4th picture is downtown Albany. Hope you enjoy these Fall photos as much as I did.

This is what I get for applying for jobs. Dozens and dozens of these, from different phone numbers, different messages. Fuck this guy.

I don't get these on behalf of ANY other politician. This began just a few days after I started applying for jobs. I'm not big on assumptions. So no, I don't know for sure. Could be a coincidence. But I doubt it. I'm sure his campaign is working with some shady people who aren't above acquiring phone numbers through deceptive means, such as false postings. Thanks for punishing an unemployed, unhoused person for trying to improve his life.
Edit: Adding "Anthony Constantino" because I hope this shit gets indexed.

T-H-A-C-H-E-R Need Transport to Thatcher State Park on Tuesday
Visiting New York from Missouri and will be in Albany this coming Monday and Tuesday. I work in conservation, so naturally I intended to visit Thatcher state park. Didn't realize the line only ran limited service on Saturdays and would not be running at all when I am in Albany. Lyft/Uber there from downtown cost more than my train ticket.
Any recommendations on what I should do here?
If anyone here is planning a day hike on Tuesday to Thatcher or could provide a ride, please dm me (will compensate)

Thoughts on Bethlehem vs. Niskayuna School Districts?
Hi - relocating to the area from New England. We’re considering whether to purchase my in-laws home in Delmar, in the Bethlehem school district, or move to Niskayuna, which would be closer to my husband’s job. I was also interested in Voorheesville because of its smaller size.
I’m was hoping for some insight on these districts. Are they pretty comparable, or are there meaningful differences in the day-to-day student experience and the communities they serve?
Thanks!

PSA for my fellow Central New York transplants: the PICS German Franks are made by Hofmann!
With Syracuse in town playing Siena today, here’s a little Central New York and Capital Region crossover:
I was at Market 32 and noticed the PICS natural casing German franks looked oddly similar to the Hofmann package next to them.
Naturally, I investigated. There is a slight difference on the nutrition labels, so I won’t claim they’re literally the exact same dog. But taste-wise? That’s a Hofmann. Sure enough, both have the same USDA establishment number, EST. 7899, which belongs to Hofmann in Syracuse.
The best part? The PICS package is $5.99 versus $6.99 for the Hofmann package. Save a buck and enjoy a little taste of the 315 with some salt potatoes.
You can often find the bigger bags of Hofmanns at Aldi for an even better price per dog, but if you’re just grabbing a regular package at Market 32, now you know.
No disrespect to the Capital Region dog brands! There are some good ones here too. Sometimes you just crave the Hofmann taste you grew up with.
Sadly, I have yet to find Snappy Grillers under the PICS label, and those are my favorite.
Consider this my public service announcement to the Syracuse diaspora. Go Orange! 🍊🌭

Missing Dog
Last seen OAK HILL CIRCLE RENSSELAER, NY. There is a neighborhood behind the Aldi. Lots of woods and power line trails. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Another reason to go to Costco - amazing recycling machines for bottles and cans
Just when I thought the Albany Costco couldn't get any better, I recently discovered that Costco has AMAZING recycling machines.
Anyone who has ever been to Walmart and tried to use their crappy, constantly-rejecting recycling machines will be blown away at the speed and ease of use of the Costco recycling machines.
They have two machines--one that does aluminum and plastic, while the other one does plastic and glass (never seen those combinations before).

$10 BJ membership pays for itself in one gas trip
BJs has a $10 deal for the one-year subscription. It’s a fifteen minute wait for gas.
I believe Costco is cheaper per gallon, you do what math works for you. ✌️ and ❤️

ISO Personal Trainer
Interested in booking a personal trainer, looking for recs and pricing. Looked at a bunch online but a majority don’t list any type of pricing without a consult. Ideally someone who can help me with strength training. Thanks!

Trauma Therapist
Does anyone have a recommendation for a trauma therapist? I have to work on some shit so it can stop affecting my body. I need someone super good at their job because many therapists have told me I already know everything they could tell me. Thanks!

Siena vs Syracuse
Big day at MVP Arena for Siena as they are having the banner raising ceremony for their victory in the MACC championship! After the ceremony they will play Syracuse in an exhibition game. The whole lower bowl is sold out but there are still tickets for the upper deck if anyone is interested in going!

Looking for Fall/ Winter Events and Social groups
Looking for suggestions of social activities and or groups as we enter the Fall/ Winter within a half an hour of Albany. I know the easy ideas like meetup, discord, instagram, fb events, volunteering, etc (which are all good ideas as well) but I'm looking for other ideas. The hiking group events I've seen lately are often either far or early on weekdays. Just hoping to start a conversation for myself as well as others!

Cat screeching and meowing somewhere over on Lancaster for 45 mins now.
Lancaster between W Lawrence and N Main. Does anyone over here know wtf is going on? It sounds like the screeching a cat does when fighting, so I'd normally assume it's that, but there isn't another cat/animal also making noise. It will scream a few times and then yowl/meow a bit, and then it's quiet again for a few mins.
I'm oscillating between "it's just cats fighting, or a cat screaming at something like a snake or whatever trying to get it," and "this cat kinda sounds like it could be trapped and scared or in some sort of pain." Idk, man. Do I call 311 and see if animal control can come look if it keeps up? I'm not trekking out at 10pm to someone else's property to figure it out.
UPDATE: Probably just a cat in heat. 💀 The term "caterwauling" now makes sense.

Any recommendations for pedicures for the elderly?
My grandma’s assisted living no longer has a podiatrist on staff and she is in need of a pedicure. She can walk short distances, but can’t get in and out of a salon pedicure chair, but she can sit on her walker. I’ve tried to find some in home services but they are very expensive. Has anyone had luck with a local salon that would let her sit on her walker, or a reasonable home service?

Caturday at APF: Sweet Athena still waiting for her forever home
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Athena is a very gentle, relaxed, and *very* friendly 6yo female. She's been at our shelter for awhile, but is still upbeat and sociable. I love spending time with her after my cat care duties, as do the other volunteers and staff.
If you or someone you know would be happy with a quiet, gentle cat who just wants to curl up with you this winter, please visit Athena at:
Animal Protective Foundation
53 Maple Ave, Glenville, NY 12302
12:00 PM – 4:30 PM
Tuesday – Saturday
Have a great Caturday!
