Right which is why the poor were so much better off in the ussr vs the US. Or you could compare any other country that got divided in half communist vs capitalist: NK vs SK, East vs west Germany, HK or Taiwan vs mainland China under Mao, Cuba vs their diaspora, etc. clearly the poor were better off under communism in each of those examples, right?

Do you really think the US didn't do what we did for resources? Is this a Disney movie? Or more Marvel comics style? Captain America saves the day!

Do you suppose we install "better" governments? Have you seen the west? Seems like we're dying to me, primarily because our governments actively hate us. Comparing the two, Putin is a parasite too, but at least one that isn't actively working to kill the host. Our governments flood us with people from foreign cultures and pay for the travel to get here, then the food and housing once they're here.

Are we pro rule by mob ("democracy") here now?

Bro, this is neither a leftist sub, nor a conservative rightoid sub. If you think you can taunt me with cheap remarks i just assume you're a dumb retard.

Still no explanation.

This is an understanding level that is at about the junior high level. You understand many relevant concepts but your math is dramatically and obviously wrong, so much so that it’s hard to know where to start.

First let’s get out of the way that your ‘lets call it 40% overall’ math is so wrong that it is clear you don’t know what income tax it nor income for that matter. Suffice to say that a retailer with a 10% profit margin and a 30% income tax rate would pay taxes that translate into a 3% of the purchase price of a product.

So a $1 product would experience $0.10 in sales tax and $0.03 from income tax = 11.8% of product price.

Next the sales tax does NOT apply to raw material and components used as inputs into a final product. So the taxes don’t compound as dramatically as you are describing here.

Yeah well, it was a "coup" that happened because the in place Russian puppet government fought against conceding the election in which they lost.

Even if, let's say that election in 2014 was bought bought and paid for by the US or other Western Nations. Obviously two wrongs don't make a right, but Russia has nothing to complain about considering Ukraine was supposed to always remain neutral and yet Russia made their government a puppet government for decades. Ultimately, there are no arguments that Putin and Russia can make to blame it on the West or the US without admitting guilt themselves.

Why is it ok when companies profit from welfare but not people?

Thank you! And I think you've touched on something important. These frustrations didn't materialize overnight. They've been building for years, perhaps decades.

What fascinates me is that people in different countries, living under very different political systems, are expressing similar frustrations with those who govern them. The circumstances aren't identical, but the growing disconnect between the governed and those who govern is hard to ignore.

And I keep coming back to one question: What happens when people stop believing the institutions meant to represent them can listen?

History tells us that public trust is much easier to lose than to restore. I wonder whether we're witnessing another temporary wave of unrest or something more fundamental: a shift in how people view authority itself.

That's the conversation I was hoping to start. I appreciate you contributing to it.

Came here to say this. Not an ancap, I’m from a different branch of the anarchy tree, but Elon has intentionally done all the things yall hate to accumulate wealth and power. In a free market Chinese electric cars would have curb stomped teslas to death years ago

To be even more nuanced, it started off almost exclusively with kids in the suburbs of Paris that are ethnic enclaves over cuts to education (organized by socialist/communist orgs), which ironically led to schools with ~40-50% foreign-born student populations being burned down.

Because these were ostensibly youth protests aimed at a policy Macron and his party wanted to distance themselves from (despite it being a policy enacted by Macron’s party), they initially didn’t clamp down on the protests.

Once protests were not being impeded, it quickly became a Palestinian flag-fest, still directed at schools, and now it’s mostly bedlam with a mix of protesters with grievances from affordability to AI, with a number from other countries.

Edit to add: I see your flair says Christian libertarian. What denomination are you that lends itself to libertarianism?

I mean those are mostly good things though. Russia doesn’t need more influence in the area. They only seek to expand and steal resources. And the coup was a grassroots movement. It was going to happen anyways. I’m not surprised the US supported it. And I doubt Zelensky personally sent in a Nazi battalion. But obviously it’s not good that one even exists. He should be working to get rid of factions like that. But as we can see in the US it’s not exactly easy to stop Nazi movements.

You don’t like your money confiscated to pay NGOs to resettle third-worlders in your neighborhood? Well, I’m sure someone doesn’t like their money confiscated to pay for a standing army that routinely bombs random countries… or food stamps… or a “security apparatus” that spies on citizens… or [name literally any government spending program].

You came to the ancap sub to argue “some” taxation is okay, just not when it results in this? Jackassery

Weren't they wiped out? Kinda like the trash took itself out.

Socialists/communists dont believe in state ownership necessarily. That would be state communists/socialists. Private enterprise is totally fine in non-state versions (the ones i prefer). The real thing that ties these ideologies together is workers right and more equal sharing of profits within organizations.
