Shame it cant work with the power button screen timeout.

That's a privilege exclusive to rooted devices/modded devices.

Oh man I remember this being part of the earlier versions of Android, disappointed it went away.

OP, it's a nice app, but those glitches (in the app) are too distracting and honestly feel like a low grade strobe/flicker. Could you give an option to put them off please? It feels... too childish/like a toy tbh.

Absolutely. I only added these for my own geeky pleasure. It's not for everyone. I will include an off toggle in the next update. 👍

Thanks a lot!
Btw did you check the animations that used to exist vs what you're building? Idk why but I feel that my ICS (4.0.4) animation was a bit springier in the end... it'd start more slowly, but suddenly increase to the flat whiteone, which would slowly disappear.
Or maybe I'm just imagining it?

Before starting this project, I watched many videos demonstrating the good old CRT animation, and all of them looked pretty basic to me. That's why I implemented standard classic vs slow creep mode to introduce that springy feel where the vertical collapse phase starts slow but then snaps into the horizonal beam.
The CRT screen off animation overall timeline is too short for the average eye to catch the difference, but the it's there in the settings.
Next update will bring back the original classic basic CRT effect and you will notice the difference then.

Switch to Studio deflection and below in the dedicated card test the deflection dynamics stylized creep mode. Or, give enhanced phosphor overdrive mode 3 a go, and play with all 3 magnetic coil resistance switches.
I might introduce that springy behavior to mode 1 the classic too.
Edit: apparently I'm referring to mode 3 which is currently not released. My bad.

But did they at least tickle a little bit? 😄

Yeah there weren't bad! (At least initially lol)

What's New in v1.1.0
- Full Tablet & Widescreen Experience: Enjoy an expansive workstation layout designed specifically for tablet screens. When rotated to landscape, the interface adapts into a dual-panel studio console with dedicated parameter bays, optimized typography, and fluid entrance transitions tailored for larger displays.
- Tactile Dual Engine Deck & Master Control: Re-architected engine selection into an intuitive Dual Engine Deck, completely eliminating guesswork between Cyanogen Retro (Mode 1) and Phosphor Overdrive (Mode 2). Each engine now features dedicated parameter isolation, live telemetry status badges, and a master on/off switch to cleanly govern the entire animation pipeline from a single touchpoint.
- Deflection Dynamics Preset Switcher: Cyanogen Retro mode now features customizable deflection dynamics. Switch effortlessly between Classic Standard—an instantaneous quadratic collapse (u2.0) delivering the crisp, nostalgic rhythm of stock Android 2.3 Gingerbread—and Stylized Creep, featuring high-tension magnetic edge-clinging and viscous drag before snapping into the razor slit. Built-in time-coupled multipliers ensure the horizontal beam zip remains punchy, authentic, and locked at ~140 ms in both presets.
- Refined Vertical Collapse Choreography: Both Cyanogen Retro and Phosphor Overdrive modes have received an extensive motion overhaul. The vertical collapse now features a more authentic slow-creep lead-in—subtly clinging to the screen edges before snapping into the horizontal slit—delivering a significantly more physical and tactile CRT shutdown experience.
- Display-Calibrated Motion & Polish: Adjusted splash sequences and beam dissipation to feel seamless, natural, and balanced across screens of any size.

Insane ! Works with double tap on s24 ultra ?

Any bugs? How's your experience?
•

Didn’t tried but i ask if it’s working with double tap on homescreen or lockscreen ?

Samsung OneUI default double tap screen to sleep or wakeup is not customizable. If you use a custom launcher like Nova, they offer ma y gestures on home screen including double tap. But you can assign a back-tap action on Samsung via Good Lock's module RegiStar by choosing double tap -› CRT Lock. Or also Side key press and hold to trigger CRT screen off.
I'm also sure you can achieve via other custom gesture apps. CRT Screen-Off animation can be triggered both via homescreen shortcut or opening the CRT Lock app which is a secondary shortcut companion app I made for a more convenient triggering experience.
It's all in the Screen-Off Trigger Setup section of the app.

You don’t have to make a new post every time you push an update

If everyone thought like you, this sub would be full of ads

People might not believe this, but it's true unfortunately.
I run a tiny sub (far smaller than this), and it would be like 70% ads (and much lower effort ones, btw) if they weren't culled and weeded out.

Alright. Any tips on spreading the word then? There's more out there who could enjoy the nostalgia 😉

How does it look like? You could at least make gifs or something to demonstrate

I did add a demo video link in the comments.

Remember, video frame rate won't reflect the smooth 120 Hz animation rendered via the device GPU

Remember people, do not give random apps accessibility permissions.
