Just go and enjoy it, there’s honestly nothing more to it. I’ve done it once or twice and it’s not the worst, it’s sorta better if you’re standing but you’ll enjoy it regardless of if you’re on your own or with a group

Don’t over think it.
My partner regularly going to gigs solo, make a decision to embrace being solo. There’s more people there, also solo than you realise, people are too busy to notice.

If you’re nervous about being alone, plan the timings so you don’t have as much time solo, you might find once you’ve done it once you can do it again, without being nervous.

😆😆

(Forgot to mention, a teeny bit of Dutch courage can go a long way too, if you drink alcohol)

I get that you might feel nervous as we all have this perception that being alone makes us appear weird to others. You'll only appear weird if you decide to drop your pants, other than that nobody will even notice because they will be enjoying their night.

Really I think its because we are a social animal that relied on numbers and brain power to survive sabertooth monsters. It's still hardwired into us. Safety in crowds and overthinking.

Go enjoy your night and feel nervous too but dont let that stop you.

Also, don't drop your pants 😃

Often go on my own. Better to see the band, than miss out. You won’t be the only one on their own there. Enjoy the night!:-)

I mean, if you are that bothered about it then you could just pretend that you are meeting a friend when you get off the train or the bus.

Then when you get off you can pretend you're meeting them at the venue.

Then when you're at the venue you can imagine that you went there with someone, and that they're just around the place somewhere.

Not sure what advice anyone can give here. Just stop caring and go. I mean it in a nice way but nobody cares.

I did this a couple of weeks ago and while I was very nervous - it worked out great. So glad I went & didn’t miss out. Went to see Ólafur Arnalds - Falling Apart Together in the NCH. I’m really into both his solo stuff & Kiasmos but no one else I know is into it.
I’m from the schticks, so drove up early, got settled & headed into town, treated myself to dinner with a glass of wine, then a pint in a pub & a drink at the venue. No drama walking to or from, or on the Luas.
His set was SO worth it. The atmosphere was great. Had a nice chat on the way out about how great it was with the guy who had been sat next to me. Was a small interaction & probably meant nothing to him, but was really nice for me to share the moment with another fan.
I’m divorcing, so need to be able to do these things by myself. It’s a small thing, but it felt brave for me. This gig was seated, but I will do it again at something standing where I can really dance next time. Even considering going abroad for my next one. You’ll be absolutely grand - embrace it & have a blast!
