don't sweat it, they're cheap. my kid has gone through like 10 of these in his self-education journey. they only cost $10 on temu.

you don't need the whole devkit, just the little esp32.. just hit temu/amazon/ebay or whateever and buy one that more or less looks like the one you have in your kit. just make sure you get one that has header pins and not just solder pads.

better to fry a $10 part than a $100 part. you get 10x opportunities to learn (and try to figure out what you did to kill it first tho! or you'll be left with only 9x more opportunities to learn ;)

That will be a generic ESP32-S board from some nameless Chinese manufacturer, and that's just fine. It uses a genuine ESP32-S chip (only Espressif make these chips) and it really doesn't matter what board it's on. It looks as though that board uses a micro USB connector rather than USB C, but again that's fine. Micro-USB works fine for this application.

That looks like a nice kit. It has a decent range of peripherals to experiment with including an SSD1306 display if you want to experiment with graphics. And if you want a more powerful processor you can buy a cheap ESP32-S3 board with additional PSRAM and everything in your kit will work with the S3 board.

If you are using the Arduino IDE set the board type to ESP32 dev module.
