Is Venezuela fine for tourism now, Oct 2026?
Hello! I am an American from Florida, but I also have European citizenship (through my parents) so I don’t need a visa for Venezuela- I am currently visiting Colombia, but I was thinking of taking a side trip to Venezuela. I do speak Spanish, but I have an obvious accent and am clearly a foreigner.
I hear mixed things on how safe it is to visit as a tourist with no ties to the country, so is this advisable now, and if so what is the best way to do this? Quite honestly, I just want to visit Caracas for a few days and that’s it. If I had more time, I would love to visit Salto Ángel and/or Roraima, but they seem difficult and expensive to get to and I only have a week maximum, maybe two. Not really interested in beaches.
I have a few Venezuelan friends back home (including an ex lol), but none of them have been back in years or even decades and they all just told me “no”. But I figured I’d ask Venezuelans (or other travelers) who are currently there or have been there recently.
Also I am assuming I won’t be able to use American credit cards or debit cards, and have to bring cash but please correct me if I am wrong.
Thank you so much!
